Le Clos, the story start in 1770 when the nuns of the Abbey of Saint-Nicolas bought the land under the old regime called "The garden of the Beguine". Bordered by the remains of city walls and a tower called the white tower, the plots became peasant gardens. A century later, in 1886 - under the protection of a gentleman benefactor of the Abbey of Saint-Nicolas - a Castle was born. The Benedictine nuns began hosting families opened a school for girls of the abbey. The round tower and the square pavilion, pepper-pot roofs and four slopes, false battlements and tall chimneys, windows and doors decorated with braces, are a harmonious example of architectural style of Viollet-Le-Duc. The mansion was an inspiration for the architect to draw on the exceptional tower houses that have adorned the town of Verneuil since the fifteenth century. In gothic style, the walls come alive with color. The "checkerboard", so characteristic of the region, combines the dark brick called "flamed" orange brick and whitewashed plaster, while flints and brick diamonds offer subtle variations in the tone. The sisters welcome families into the 1960s. In 1961, it was renamed the Hostellerie du Clos. In 2007 it became Le Clos. The castle original will require ongoing renovations, modernization and decoration but will preserve its original spirit. In the spring of 2015 will rise to a former conservatory Gustave Eiffel style of 100 sqm, facing south with a view overlooking the park. It will host the breakfasts, a restaurant that showcases the "Bistronomie" tea room, reading and rest ... A relaxation area with a swimming pool cover, bio sauna, bio steam room, fitness , energy showers ... Finally a south-facing terrace on the ground floor equipped with sun and a beautiful place "nose in the grass" to eat more lightly. Today, the castle of fifteen rooms and suites located in a park of ancient trees has beautiful botanicals, beautiful and loyal birds, four hives with bees pollinate flowers and tree gardens. He is a member of Relais & Châteaux since 1975 and this year celebrates its fortieth anniversary of belonging to this great association
The hotel is situated at the edge of the attractive town in a small park. Very comfortable rooms with old world charm/antiques and an excellent restaurant using local ingredients, with an excellent wine list. The attention to detail is terrific. There is also a small pool and spa area which is a bonus.

Located at the short drive distance from the nice small historical town, the chateau is a good place for a night stay or a more or less long family/romantic escape. Th adjoining forest is a nice place for a walk, the regular area around is an illustration for how modern people may adapt to and resuscitate the old ruin. Host is warm and supportive. Breakfast is good, with their own jam assortment.

Spent a long weekend in Verneuil and couldn’t have been happier with the hotel and the room. We got a larger room for an extra 10 Euros and enjoyed its spaciousness, the clean bathroom, separate toilet and quietness even though we were overlooking the town square. We didn’t even hear anything when the Saturday market was going on. Great market btw! Plenty of parking on or by the square and you can walk around the beautiful town.

We had a wonderful time at Les Bois Francs. The cabins where lovely and recently updated, still not quite as good as the English ones but fine for us. There is no oven which we didn't realise but we purchased a reusable BBQ from the Carrefour onsite and was perfect. Bed where really comfortable and slept well. Only 1 toilet for 6 people which wasn't ideal. Staff where super friendly and spoke good English. Pool was brill and really warm, don't need to book a time slot which works out really good with kids. We hired a golf buggy to drive around which was super fun and got us to the activities on time. The only issue we had with the activities was the pony riding. Our eldest daughter was to tall, which wasn't mentioned on the booking so she was very disappointed. She is just over 140 cm which I think was the limit, there was 3 children turned away upset. They also didn't mention you had to where long trouser so we had to rush back to the cabin to get some, again others where in the same situation. The grounds where really well kept and will definitely be going back. The cost is half of the prices in the UK. The journey down takes about 3 hours from Calais. Highly recommend, we had a lovely stay
