For centuries Venice has been defined by its otherworldly presence. Divided into six sestieri (districts), the city is split by the Grand Canal, snaking through Venice in a backwards “S” formation. Water here is a means of communication, connecting its parts as well as opening the city to the outside world. People move themselves and cargo by foot and boats of all types. A city of great contrasts, the strength and beauty of Venice are perpetually challenged by its great fragility – constant study, repair, resourcefulness, and vigilance maintain a very delicate balance here.

Casa Verardo is an ancient noble palace of the XVI century at only 200mt. from St. Marks square. A pleasant combination of:*ambient atmosphere *proximity to the main points of interest *reasonable prices 3 floors (with lift), with two "piano nobile" (noble floor), with wide walk-able areas, a big terrace on the roof and another one at the first floor (both with canal view), where you can have breakfast.
Stayed 4 nights in this gem of a hotel. The staff are super friendly and quick to help with restaurant suggestions or directions. The location is a 5 minute walk to St. Marks but you don't get the crowds or noise. Breakfast is served buffet style on a patio overlooking the garden. Just perfect. Can't wait to get back

Albergo Marin is your cozy hotel in Venice, close to the train station S.Lucia and a couple of steps far from the Grand Canal. We offer to our guest 19 nice rooms, all ensuite but one (cheaper), with air conditioning, safe, satellite tv, SKY tv with more than 600 free channels, and all kind of comfort you can get from upper level Venice hotels, but at a right price. We also have some superior double and triple rooms with turkish (Steam) bathroom, where you can enjoy a complete and charmant relax. In the morning we serve breakfast in our breakfast hall: we do supply salty and sweety flavours, hot and cold products (try our scrambled eggs with bacon i.e.), gluten free options on request. Free Wifi is anywhere, in your room, at the bar, in the lobby, even outside, where our external bar tables lie. All the guests can access our bar, where it is possible to enjoy a glass of wine, a good spritz, soft drinks and much more.
A great location near the station but tucked away in a quiet spot. We arrived early, and Giacomo greeted us with a warm smile and two large glasses of wine. He then gave us a number of great recommendations for exploring Venice, both areas and restaurants. Our room was fine with a comfortable bed. House keeping was great too, if a bit too enthusiastic..... Breakfast was really good, including Prosecco. We are guessing this was due to it being Easter Sunday although it was my birthday! Definitely recommend.

Loved this hotel for the location and rooftop bar. Room was lovely - request a view-soundproof and contemporary. Housekeeping service on point and the breakfast was everything you needed. The service at breakfast was so friendly and they were on top of your every need. The front desk was great for check in- some people were better than others. One lady really seemed bothered by questions and all replies were to look online. However, the rooftop bar just had the best view and vibes. We made a point to have a drink there almost every night. Bartenders and servers were so fun and made exceptional drinks. Such a great experience! We will be back. Oh and most importantly THE LOCATION!!!! It’s in the pulse.

Canal Grande is a charming boutique hotel located in Ca' Polacco, an elegant little palace which has just been restored. The furniture of the hotel is characterised by the elegance of Rococo style, typical of 18th century Venice. The lobby with its rose marble fireplace, the breakfast room with its golden mirrors, and the bar with its Venetian red velvet armchairs overlook the Grand Canal and are the best places where to begin and end a day! The small terrace on the Grand Canal gives our Guests the possibility to have a drink in a special setting and to "breathe the air of the canal"!!
This was a budget break 2 weeks before Christmas 2018. Very old movie kind of place, not swish , fancy or modern in any way. Felt as though we spent a few days in Venice as it was 50 years ago. Beautiful Clean, lovely bed linen, romantic and literally on the Grande Canal !

Little bit disappointed with this hotel as we'd read some positive reviews. Husband booked this as a birthday treat. Check in was swift and the girl on the desk was helpful and informative. Kind of went downhill after that. Room was on the 3rd floor, fine, was clearly a budget room. Tiny little window and a view of a crumbling building next to it, so not a great view or any kind of view. There was air conditioning in room 316 but it was a bit of a fight to get them to turn it on. As has been said before, you either roast to death with the window closed or you leave it open and are eaten to death by mosquitoes. They were in no rush to turn it on even when it was about 28 degrees outside. Bathroom, please be careful here. If you get up in the middle of the night half asleep be aware of the step up into the bathroom it's about 4 inches high, you'll either just stub your toe or fall face first onto the tiled floor. Shower, this was a joke! i've been in bigger phone boxes. Don't try and take all your usual bottles etc in there with you....there's not room. If like me,a bit on the chunky side, you're going to struggle, the doors on the cubicle just will not close. If you're claustrophobic don't even attempt it! We ended up showering with the doors open and the fabric/cloth things they leave you all over the floor. We did bring this up with reception who just shrugged 'nothing we can do about it'. Bed, yes it was 2 singles put together and yes it was a firm mattress but not uncomfortably firm. Breakfast was just your average self service buffet, nothing outstanding to be honest. We did try the rooftop bar for a drink and it was nice. We flew home Thursday 26th May so were up and about early for breakfast. Went down to find the breakfast room in darkness. Everybody seemed to be eating in the bar area for some reason. So we stood and waited for someone to come over to take our room number as we had done past 2 mornings and were totally ignored by the waiting staff. Wen
