Vaxholm is known as the “gateway to Roslagen” because it is a hub for travel to most of the islands in the Swedish archipelago. Vaxholm itself is comprised of about 70 small islands, all of which can be explored on foot. There are shops, restaurants, and cafés for those looking to take a coffee break. For those interested in military history, a ferry runs to the tiny island of Vaxholmen, home to a major 17th century citadel also known as Vaxholm Castle (Vaxholms Kastell in Swedish).

The classic Waxholms Hotell, built 1903, is a landmark in the Stockholm Archipelago. The beautiful setting of the hotel offers fantastic views over the bay and the fortress Kastellet. Our 42 rooms offer good comfort and you can enjoy the local cuisine in one of our restaurants or take part in a conference while the ships drift past outside the window. We recommend you to come here at the four most fascinating times of the year: summer autumn, winter and spring. In the summer, Vaxholms is boiling. Boats come and go around the clock and the harbour is never still. The restaurants are crowded and the bay makes a vivid scenery.
We were not really happy with our stay. We paid almost 3000kr for a night stay and the room we got was really tiny. Nothing extra, no tea or coffee. Nor a fridge. We were really happy when they told us breakfast is till 11:00, we looked forward to have a sleep in. When we arrived to breakfast at 9:55 we were told to get what we wanted from the buffet because they were taking all the food away. We were really looking forward to enjoy a long breakfast with that beautiful view but we were rushed to eat, because they had to prepare for the lunch guests. This was a big disappointment! didn't feel welcome by the staff, it felt more like they were doing me a favour and i wish the staff was better informed both at check in and check out, about the hotels hours and even not trying to get me to pay for the room twice. Big disappointment!

The images are very misleading for this property, it is old, in need of a good clean and refurbisment, there are no staff available. When we arrived for a four night stay in late June, in the midst of COVID, our key was left on a desk for collection, when we went to the room, I realised there were shared bathroom and shower facilities. I didn't feel safe to stay. There are no staff on site, so I cancelled online on the evening of arrival. The following morning the shared toilets were not clean, bins overflowing and drains clogged with hair, totally unacceptable in any instance but particularly with COVID. I explained the reason for cancelling booking in the morning to only member of staff I had seen, there was no reaction, or understanding. When I checked my bank the full amount for four nights stay had been taken from my account. When I contacted the customer service, they were curt and asked if I had photo evidence of cleanliness. I have read of other reviews from travellers who have been treated similarly and this property needs to be called out on how they are treating customers, and putting thier health at risk because of lack of cleanliness.

Welcome to Vaxholm Bed & Breakfast! A small hotel, in our home, in Vaxholm's older residential neighbourhoods. Just steps away from the waterfront and a few hundred meters from Vaxholm guest harbor, cafes, restaurants and archipelago boats. We offer accommodation in two rooms – The Studio for two people and the Family Room sleeping up to four – on the ground floor of our 1930s villa. Both with private entrance from the street and separate patio outside the door. For your comfort we have made the beds for you before you arrive, and in the bathroom you will find soap, shampoo, hair dryer, towels and other essentials. Both rooms also have a pantry with coffee maker, microwave, fridge and a single hotplate for simpler cooking. Choose if you wish to add our breakfast basket to your reservation or if you prefer to do the grocery shopping yourself in the nearby grocery store. Coffee and tea is always in the room. In our quiet courtyard you will find the Greenhouse. A place for lazy breakfast, relaxing after a day full of archipelago adventures or just to chill in front of the fire a rainy day. Wednesdays to Fridays during spring and summer we also open up for drop in soup lunches and coffee with waffles and home baked cakes for any one in that’s in the neighbourhood. We also arrange different events and dinners for booked groups. Welcome to the archipelago, and feel at home!
My daughter and I couldn’t have had a better time. The apartment was immaculate and beautiful with thoughtful details, fresh flowers, beautiful decor and a very pretty garden. The green house living room was a huge treat. The highlight of our stay was the soup lunch Linda serves on Fridays. Linda and Velma were very kind and gracious hosts and were quick to help with recommendations, advice and ferry schedules. We are so grateful we found this little slice of heaven!

UnfortunaTly i booked this place by phone call as a package with three course meal and one night stay. When we got to our room we were shocked to see that the door wasnt even possible to open bacause the bed was in the way. There wasnt anything apart from the bed. You can imagine out surprise when we realized that there was no bathroom. No staff on site. We were greeted by a man that was walking around the corridors in just his boxers (?) Not sure if he was another guest, someone that lives there. We don’t know. We tried to call the number but they havent responded my calls since. I ve tried email but nothing. We left straight away and we lost all the money. We had to book another room in another hotel.. the whole thing costed us around 5000kr for a night in Vaxholm. So disappointed ! Im hoping to get my money back seeing as we left straight away. I will make a report to Konsumentvärket and hopefully that will avoid other people from getting ripped off from this scam.
