The Radisson Blu Resort offers both hotel rooms and apartments with a kitchen. The apartments can be booked through Skistar who also provide booking facilities for Ski passes and Snowboard / Ski rental. We took the skibus from the airport and it drops you directly at the front door of the hotel in Trysil. The hotel is modern and has a good feel to it. The staff are welcoming and we felt relaxed when we arrived as they handed out cookies and coffee. Even though we booked an apartment with Skistar the Radisson reception perform the check-in. Our apartment was spacious and bright with a kitchenette. We had pre-booked their main restaurant 2 weeks before we arrived and that proved to be a good plan as the restaurants were booked up with functions. We were able to dine at the Pizza restaurant one night without a booking but had to wait over an hour for a table. Most nights we ate in our own room as we didn't want to wait an hour or walk up to the restaurant area of the resort but we can recommend "Taste Mat & Vinhus" which is nice for a fine dining experience. The owner replies to emails for bookings. The ski-lockers in the lowest floor of the hotel are well setup and the skiing is generally good without being great. A slight wind can really freeze your face on the chairlifts (we went for the week starting 5 March) as they don't have any covers on the chairlifts and their is no Gondola so be prepared. We enjoyed our time skiing in Trysil and the apartment was a very good choice as it allowed us to eat in or out as we pleased. The hotel could do with another restaurant and a larger bar.

From its unique location, 800 metres above sea level, the Radisson Blu Mountain Resort & Residences Trysil, boasts stunning views of the alpine slopes and neighbouring mountains. From its opening in December 2011, the hotel has successfully hosted numerous events and vacationing families, giving them a taste of the magical winter wonderland of Trysil. Spanning an impressive 33 000 square metres it is amazing how the resort manages with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, to maintain the feel of a remote mountain chalet. Offering both comfortable guest rooms and apartments it's perfect for families or groups of friends, the resort is the perfect choice for adventure seekers and those pursuing a mountain oasis. The resort offers an impressive Spa including both indoor and outdoor pools, several saunas and a wonderful spa treatment selection. After a day in the slopes enjoy the tastes of Trysil in Restaurant Barken while taking in the majestic views of the mountain or enjoy a casual dinner in Stabben Afterski & Restaurant.
Poor communication about closing at end of season. Mixed messages from staff. Restaurants closed without prior warning and hotel end of season closing time not communicated until mid-way through the stay.

Sitting amongst miles of cross-country trails this three star hotel is ideally placed between Sweden and Norway’s great winter sports resorts. The bedrooms are spacious, modern and very Nordic in style. There is a delicious buffet breakfast to enjoy each morning and excellent food within the hotel restaurant. In the evenings you can relax in the comfort of the lovely Nordic style bar. With Scandinavian Mountains Airport (Sälen) Trysil just 20 minutes away and about 2 hours drive from Oslo Airport Gardermoen, the hotel is easily accessed both from Norway and abroad.
Very nice weekend at Kjølen hotel due to a "cross-country-ski-weekend". We arrived Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday. It was our first stay at both this hotel and in this area of Norway. We enjoyed the nice warm atmosphere in the hotel and the hotel was impressive through-out styled to reflect the history of the hotel and the place. The food was excellent at a very reasonable price (not expensive), and the hotel was exceptional clean! The bed was also excellent (which always is a big case due to disk-problems in my back). The ski-slope was just outside the door - so very easy! And with the app "skisporet" it was easy to see and choose the wanted ski-slopes for the day. So, the nice stay in this beautiful and peaceful environment gave us just the needed break from a busy everyday-life. The only thing missing was a hot-water-boiler in the room - it could have been nice to make a warm cup of tea when returning to the hotel after skiing.

Trysil hotel has been completely rebuild in 2017 and are re-opened with a new concept. The hotel now includes a cafe and artesian bakery, a microbrewery and a brewpub with a restaurant section. All rooms have a new interior design and furnishing. The new concept caters to active guests that enjoy good food and craft beer. It`s a biker friendly hotel with bike room, bike wash and a small service station for bike maintenance. Just inside the entrance is a shoe room for drying and storage.
We stayed in Trysil hotel and drove the 5 minutes up to the ski slopes for the last week of the ski season including the festival on the slopes and in town. This was agreat way to see some culture of Norway that staying in a ski apartment wouldn’t. We were a group of 5 fifty something British men. Trysil hotel is excellent for a group like this with the the bakery, craft beers and easy automated check in. It is cool without trying to be too flash/posh, it is simple and provides the basics in the room well, the staff are friendly and helped us make the most of our stay in the town. We ate in the hotel one evening and the food was excellent and everyone enjoyed the breakfasts each day.

In winter you can put on skis at your doorstep and take the ski lift to the top. The hotel is located by the Tourist Centre, just 50 meters from the nearest ski lift and Sport service ski school, and 100 meters from the Skitorget where you will find different shops and ski rental. In summer, we are a natural departure point for hikes in Trysil Mountain, on foot or bike. The new 18 holes Trysil Golf course lays at walking distance from the hotel. Trysilfjell Apartment Hotell is situated in the middle of picturesque Trysil Mountain. Summer or winter, nature is right outside, offering many possibilities no matter what condition or what age you are in.
On the positive side the apartments are literally next to the lift with parking and shops close by. The apartment was very efficient with kitchen, living, sleeping and bathroom in few square meters. You will appreciate having a kitchen since eating out is crazy expensive in Norway. If you want peace and quite this is not the place for you. The pub is across the street and they play loud music till late. Both cross country and downhill skiing is great. In summary location five dots, apartment three dots, peace and quite from 5pm to 1am no dots. Looking at the positives we end up at 4 dots. PS: April is great in Trysil.
