I stayed for one night and would use again. All info, door codes etc were sent by email as I arrived after 5pm. (One code was in a separate email which I nearly missed.) The dormitory was small and basic but the kitchen was excellent with good equipment and space. Dining and sitting areas were nice too and the showers were good.

Originally built as a fishing lodge in 1898, the Richmond Arms has had a long history, but has remained a firm favorite of the fishing enthusiast. The Hotel has been empty for the last 3 years, but is now under new management and is a family run business. Due to neglect by previous owners, it has taken 6 months of hard work to get it back open again, and to meet current fire and safety legislation. We offer bed and breakfast for residence, along with bar meals in the evening, which can be eaten in the bars, or the dining room. We can cater for children from birth upwards, and have a number of family rooms. Pets are more than welcome to stay.We have specially designed rooms for the disabled or the elderly.By the end of the year we hope to have attained our Visit Scotland 3 star rating.Tomintoul is the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland, and is situated close to the Lecht Ski centre, and is on both the whisky and castle trails in this part of Scotland. With the opening of the new mountain bike trails in the area, we will be providing secure storage facilities for bikes.
This is a great place to stay, we were on our bikes after doing the NC500, and decided to do a loop of the cairngorms. This hotel was in the right price bracket, Martin and Karen made us most welcome, the food and beer were great, we'll be back in the summer

Situated in the centre of Tomintoul, on the Glenlivet estate, this quirky 17th Century cottage Bed & Breakfast in the heart of the Cairngorms offers comfortable rooms in a friendly, family run environment. We offer a "home from home" atmosphere, where guests can relax and converse with the owners and other guests around the communal dining table, or chill out in the snug that is well equipped with games, books and music. There are no televisions in the rooms or in the communal areas, but the wifi is free. Dinner is also available on request.
Our family of four just loved our stay at Gordon House. Genuine authentic Scottish food prepared by the lovely Les. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The fantastic conversation around the table made for good laughs and loads of fun. We were able to spread out in the family suite which was warm and comfortable. Truly a lovely couple! We were delighted to have found the house with the purple door and hope to return in the future. Highly recommended spot!

A Hotel set in the village of Tomintoul in the Highlands. Spacious warm rooms overlooking the village square. All our rooms are en-suite offering baths and showers. We have a restaurant and bar in the hotel with fabulous local fare.
Recently stayed with my father and son for a four night stay so that we could explore the region. We had a great time at this value hotel. If your expecting top-end luxury then don't stay here. If your after great value, clean airy rooms, good honest food and lovely service where nothing is to much trouble then stay here and you will not be disappointed. Breakfast is great. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh excellent coffee and a great hot selection of food all served by charming efficient staff. The location is great to set in a lovely quiet village amongst stunning scenery. The village even has its own superb community supported bird hide overlooking wetlands where we spent our evenings watching amazing wildlife well into the early hours (in summer the sun barely sets). We stayed in July

We are a small rustic Inn on the Main Square in Tomintoul. We offer homemade food, real ales, open log fire, beer garden and B&B accommodation within the Cairngorms National Park and the Glenlivet Estate. We welcome all customers including families, bikers, walkers and pets. Our food is freshly made and sourced from local ingredients wherever possible. Our chef also offers a number of specials and can accommodate most dietary requirements as well as children. Why not wash down your meal with one of our local, hand-pulled craft ales, or go for one of our other ales, lagers or ciders? If you fancy a dram instead, you can choose from a selection of local Scottish malt whiskies. We also have many spirits, soft drinks, teas and coffees available. B&B accommodation is available allowing you to relax in a simple, comfortable room and enjoy a hearty breakfast in the morning - a Continental buffet and/or a full Scottish. Why not join us and enjoy a truly Scottish Highlands welcome!
We spent a week staying at The Glenavon with our two older children and can highly recommend it. Having driven up from Edinburgh, we were looking for a country holiday far away from city distractions, and we certainly got it in Tomintoul. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, and the pub itself is beautiful, with a big open fire, great food and a cosy atmosphere. Just what we were looking for over winter. I cannot speak highly enough of the owners and staff, all of whom were very friendly and welcoming. And a special mention for Baileys the dog, who pretty much owns the bar! If you're looking for a quiet country holiday, close to castle ruins and with plenty of good walks, Tomintoul is the place, and The Glenavon is the place to stay.

Had a wonderful stay for a week in a well equipped and cosy cottage. Both owners Jane and John were very helpful and obliging, they also provided a much appreciated welcome pack on our arrival. Both especially prompt in sorting any queries or providing extra logs. Cottage was well positioned for exploring the beautiful Cairngorms.
