It's true: you can surf in Canada. And Tofino, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, is where you'll find exceptional surfing, Canadian-style. Busiest in summer, Tofino also fills up in winter when storm watchers descend upon this tiny town. Stay at an upscale inn and enjoy the town that affectionately calls itself The Tree Loving Capital of the World.

Hotel Zed Tofino is a hotel experience that completely rebels against the ordinary. You may be used to our retro-chic motel feel in our other Hotel Zed locations, but Hotel Zed Tofino is a whole new vibe. Think: totally gorgeous, swanky 70's pad. But this isn't your Granny's crib (unless your Granny was a very stylish rebel!) Our rooms and public areas are groovy and chilled out. The style is deluxe and you'll never get bored here with our sunken living room, retro office, psychic's den and...what's that? A bike path that runs through the middle of the lobby? Yeah, you've never seen anything like this before. Plus, we’ve got an on-site bird sanctuary for you nature lovers. World-famous Chesterman Beach and the Inlet are both a short stroll from the hotel, and if you wanna roll into town we’re right on the bike path. Quick note: There are still some old photos on here from travellers before we built this new hotel so ignore those. This hotel is brand new! Peace and love, rebels!
This hotel is a fun blast from the past to add a little character to your vacation. The pros are the hotel has a unique character and the covered outdoor hot tub in the rainforest is really cool. I also appreciated the incredibly spacious shower in the room. Besides the really unique brand of this hotel, the rooms aren't anything special. Take away the dial phone, door handles, paint and light covers, it really is just like any other hotel. The amenities add character but for example a 200 sq ft disco isn't very practical and really just something most people walk into and say "cool," right before walking out of. I'm not sure why most hotels haven't done this yet, but I would really appreciate a yoga and meditation area. This is something that is hard to do in a hotel room with another person in there and I think it would be used for example in this case much more than a small disco room or psychic room. On a final note I did want to emphasize how phenomenal the in house restaurant Roar isl. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, take an evening to check this place out. I'm celiac, with an egg and dairy allergy. They had ZERO issues with accommodating me. I even had the opportunity to enjoy a vegan, gluten free cheese cake- I couldn't believe it! I even had the server check twice to make sure it was gluten free. Honestly, besides them accommodating me, the food was unbelievable and under-promoted by the pictures on the internet. My wife, who has no food issues raved about how glad she was that we went there.

Horrible place. Do not stay here. Super expensive with ZERO basics. Rude customer service, floorboards were coming up off of the floor, dirty, etc. Save yourself from writing the same complaint as me.

Tofino’s first new campground in over twenty years, Surf Grove is camping, first-class. What does that mean? It means an easy and seamless online booking process. It means warm, attentive service—real humans, here to welcome you, then help you with anything you might need during your stay. It means high-quality, carefully considered amenities—designed with surfers, hikers, and adventurers of all kinds in mind. Not to mention our best amenity, Cox Bay—but we can’t exactly take credit for that, can we? Enjoy one of our 135 full service RV Sites, 64 semi-service sites and over 800 feet of oceanfront on Canada’s favourite surf beach. Better yet, we are open for year-round camping! We’ve also got an onsite Pacific Surf Co. Surf Shack for lessons and rentals, plus beachside surf showers—so you don’t end up with too much beach in your sleeping bag. Visit our website to book your Tofino camping vacation today!
Surf Grove is a beautiful campground with clean amenities geared towards surfers and their families. Hot outdoor showers for post-surf, clean bathrooms, wifi, and the beauty of Cox Bay make for an awesome camping experience. It rained the entire time we were there but it was still a wonderful time. The other campers were friendly and it was sweet seeing families all surfing and camping together. Although the salmon berry bushes separating the campsites are still low we had no issues being "too close" to anyone, all the neighbors were friendly and quiet. It is a bit more expensive than campgrounds we are used to but the amenities (can I say hot outdoor showers again?) and the proximity to Cox Bay make the extra money worth it!
