Set in the delightful Cotswold market town of Tetbury, The Close Hotel and Restaurant holds the enviable reputation of being one of the finest 16th century town houses in the Cotswolds. Originally built in 1535 during the reign of King Henry VIII for John Steede a local Yeoman, the house has had many owners including Sir Thomas Estcourt, a wealthy wool merchant of the period. Since becoming a hotel in 1974, the Close Hotel has developed a reputation for excellence in hospitality by creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with the efficiency demanded by today's business world.
Had an overnight stay while my wife visited Highgrove. Proved to be a great choice. Could not fault the hotel. Staff were excellent, particularly Davd in the restaurant, who was very knowledgeable on the dishes on offer. Would definitely stay again.

Following the sympathetic restoration of a 17th-century Cotswold inn, The Royal Oak in Tetbury reopened in August 2013 as a fun, creative and friendly free house. There's an intimate saloon vibe in the bar, informal dining upstairs and six lovely en suite rooms sit on the other side of the cobbled courtyard in the former skittle alley. A short walk up the hill and the delights of Tetbury await!
We visit Tetbury for two nights during a holiday in England, there was no taxi available and we really want to visit the city next to Tetbury, Neil the manager took his car and gave us a ride, really nice from him! The waitress from breakfast also lovely woman!! The service was excellent, the people working there amazing! The room was very clean and cozy! We truly recommend to stay at the Royal Oak?

A charming hotel set in beautiful gardens and woodland - ideally located with excellent road links to M4 and M5 motorways. The hotel offers 44 individually furnished bedrooms and suites. There are two spacious lounges plus a choice of dining. The elegant Westonbirt Restaurant offers a fine selection of dishes utilising seasonal and local produce wherever possible. The informal menus in Jack Hare's are also seasonal and are served in traditional pub surroundings.
We needed a hotel near to Tetbury for a wedding at Kingscote (Matara) so although a little pricey we booked in here. We were allocated ‘Mulberry’ room which was in the courtyard . We found our room to be ultra stylish and relaxing ( could’ve done with a few more teabags and mini bar perhaps ). Nice Molton Brown products . Heated towel rail could do with a switch as I felt a waste of currently expensive energy and mae the room hot overnight . Maybe the same for public areas and bar, Breakfast was good, service great. The bar/ pub was closed to non residents, so very quiet as weddings were on - food good, although a little pricey ( but you get what you pay for). Special thank you to the lovely young girl with glasses in Jack Hares who was chatty and attentive. Overall lovely country hotel not too formal, a little pricey. Ps Tetbury could do with a taxi firm for a Sunday night as we were unable to get to the wedding 5 miles away, thankfully I had my car but it meant no champagne for me ;(

‘Famous coaching inn at the heart of Tetbury’ ‘The Snooty’ is all that a quintessential English inn should be. Its 12 bedrooms are intimate and stylish, while its ground floor boasts a very popular bar and restaurant. British food and an excellent wine list complete the picture. Feel free to make a fuss of Fred, the resident Great Dane as you pass by. Tetbury with its royal heritage, is ideal for browsing for antiques and exploring the local area. ‘The Snooty’ is located at the heart of this bustling market town and is a popular destination for many locals and day visitors to the area. The bar offers a tempting range of real ales, local ciders and a selection of Ports, Cognacs, Calvados and Armagnac’s all personally selected by the manager. The hotel is renowned locally for the quality and variety of its food offer, from coffee and cakes in the morning, leisurely lunches, traditional afternoon teas to candlelit dinners and wholesome bar snacks. The Grafton Room located towards the rear of the hotel is an ideal venue for private dining, family celebrations and small discreet meetings.Yet one reason why The Snooty Fox is a great favourite with visitors to this most Royal part of Gloucestershire is the intimacy and style of the bedrooms. All different in shape and size they have been dedicatedly refurbished to allow you to be refreshed from a good night’s sleep and enjoy another great day in the Cotswolds.
The hotel is situated in a central area of Tetbury, no on-site parking but plenty within a few yards of the hotel, some free. The room was comfortable and clean. My wife and I are at the restaurant for the 3 days of our stay, dinner and breakfast and we cannot fault the food in any way... It was excellent. The main accolade I can give is to the staff... They are some of the best we have come across, nothing is too much trouble for them. It was my wife's birthday during our stay and Kris went the extra mile to make it a special occasion. Would definitely stay there again.

My other half and I stayed here for one night after attending a wedding nearby. The staff were amazing - best I’ve come across in a long while. The front desk lady was extremely accommodating - sorting us out early check in to get ready for the wedding. The breakfast staff also equally friendly and very chatty. The cooked breakfast was AMAZING. Super quality and well presented. The building is beautiful - particularly the breakfast room and entrance. The rooms do need a bit of tlc - new bathrooms and a general paint job. However you can see this is in progress - great quality towels, bedding and toiletries. I understand the hotel has recently undertaken new management, with the receptionist commenting they were in progress of upgrading doors and the key fob system. The hotel is currently officially rated 3 stars but with just a few tweaks to the bedroom decor, I can easily see them being rated more than this.

No variation in food, wait staff very rude. Completely misadvertised themselves. When we advised we were not satisfied we’re advised that they would not provide refund. Buyer beware, visit before booking.

Three beautiful ensuite rooms in the barn at the back of the Queen Matilda Country Inn in the Cotswold Village of Avening just three miles from Tetbury, 3.9 miles from Westonbirth Arboretum and next to Gatcombe Park.
We traveled for a wedding and we’re so pleasantly surprised staying overnight with this place: recently refurbished room with large modern bathroom made it a lovely little bolthole after the wedding. However the best thing was the FOOD! World class this is more like a top London restaurant - seriously good and I’m a very picky person !

Slow things down and leave the daily grind behind you with a stay in one of our bedrooms. From the bright and spacious to the rustic and regal, each of the 5 rooms in our Cotswold Bed & Breakfast have their own country charm so you’ll be able to relax in pure countryside comfort.
We booked at short notice after having been let down elsewhere and it turned out to be far better than we could have hoped! Everything was great. Bed super comfy, room nice and toasty, very hot water and lovely bubble bath for a relaxing soak. Dinner was delicious and we had drinks in the bar, close to the wood burner. Breakfast was lovely, with a good range of cooked items. Peaceful setting, with private parking. Very handy for the Westonbirt Arboretum. Staff friendly and professional. We’d happily stay here again.

We stayed here as a family on the way to the Cotswolds Farm Park, my room was quite plain and basic but clean with the usual tea and coffee etc. Hair dryer and iron were both available too. Sash windows were a bit of a problem as the room was very warm and window would not stay open! We ate in their pub restaurant and the food was very good and service was also. Continental breakfast the next day was included. They also have camping and chalet facilities in their grounds.

What an absolutely incredible experience. I was kindly gifted vouchers for a few nights away at Calcot for my 30th birthday and my partner and I were excited to have our first trip away with our newborn son and we couldn’t have enjoyed it more. The reception team who arranged the vouchers with my family were superb, answering all their questions so my family knew that the hotel would be baby friendly and we’d be well looked after. On booking our stay, we exchanged several emails with the reservations team ensuring that the room would be big enough for a cot and they couldn’t have been more helpful, ensuring that the room was set up with the cot, a baby bath and microwave on our arrival, taking all the stress away from travelling with a baby. Check in was super speedy and informal as well. The customer service was exceptional, I’ve never known such a family friendly hotel, everything was thought of. We were always seated somewhere where we could have our son in his car seat next to us, they always made a fuss of him and we were consistently asked if we needed anything. On our final night we were even given complimentary Prosecco for my birthday (a really nice touch!) whilst having dinner in the conservatory, where the food was exceptional, both for dinner and breakfast. The indoor pool was warm enough for us to take our son for his first swim and the changing rooms are well equipped with baby change facilities making the whole thing super easy. I also had 2 spa treatments whilst there and both therapists were brilliant, I can’t wait to go back for more! The restaurants had ample amounts of childrens plates, cups etc and the playbarn looked fantastic. Overall a brilliant stay where lots of memories were created. Thank you for such a memorable stay and for the superb customer service, we’ll definitely be back!
