I came here in November 2019. I do understand that there was a big storm a couple of month ago and that it might have caused severe damage to the hotel. But in that case the high rate was not justified. There were no windows in the floors and it was wet everywhere, the wind was blowhing through the hallways and the entire building was just run down. The staff was also kind of awkward... but this might have been because as a gayjin your ususally not treated "normally" in Japan. Anyhow, i chose the hotel because it was close to the dive location i wanted to see. But the hotel itself was rather not so good. Also the food was not really recommendable. If your not into (fishy tasting) fish, then its a no-go for you! But to be fair the rooms were big. For japanese standard. But as said: pretty rund donw.

This is a lovely pension at Tateyama city, overlooking to a garden and further to the blue ocean, and even further to Izu Oshima island. Sleeping quality is excellent as the place is quiet, and beds are comfortable. We had toilets and shower at the room, but there is also an open-air hot bath in the yard (for a small additional fee). Free parking, free wifi. Just sitting in the garden is relaxing. Breakfast is western style but with Japanese touch. The owner catered for our breakfast requests, and also suggested places around for sightseeing and dinner.

My wife and I wanted to go somewhere closeby to Tokyo, last minute and were fortunate to find this place. It's located on the tip of the Boso peninsula with great Pacific ocean views. If you don't have a car, this might not be the place for you as it is remote. The room was a very nice mix of western and modern Japanese with focus on the amazing view of the ocean. The massage chair was a nice touch. The service was ten out ten, being very accommodating to every need and request. I've been to many onsens ryoken, and this is the best hands down. I usually don't like Kai-seki, traditional Japanese course meals, but this was amazing. A perfect balance of flavors, textures and seasonal foods. In the morning, there is a falcon feeding which is interesting. But be warned though, its not cheap!

A small hot-spring inn built on the beachfront Boasting fresh ground fish arriving from the company's own business network It also features delicate creative Japanese cuisine making use of experience and pottery expressing the seasons Hospitality unique to a small ryokan feels comfortable, I hope you enjoy the heart-warming atmosphere
Stayed one night with parents. They have special car for handicapped person. So if you have problem with walking should better request before hand. Hotel is located close to beach. Looks old but room is well renovated so no problem. When you arrived you can order additional dishes for dinner. Dinner Sashimi is very fresh. Also they provided Nanko pig and Kanbe lettuce this is special in Tateyama. Breakfast They provide fish, baked egg and buffet(Salad, natto, milk) also very good. Hot spring Not so big. They have 2 hot spring in side and out side. Also they have another Private hot spring. Good for people who don't like commercialized area and want to experience traditional Japanese Ryokan.

This hotel supposed can tailor the meal to you. That's a lie. My Japanese wife talked to them by phone three times- making sure I got a cooked prawn and they failed to supply us a full prawn as per the menu and they eventually after she complain, the owner snickered at her by phone and finally sent a refund in cash- no letter at all . The hotel has no lift so enjoy walking up to three storeys. Terrible toiletries and rough as old bags hotel clothing irritated my skin. The food is simply carried upstairs to your room so the cold food and hot food are both room temperature. The outside bath has no over-hang so it bad if it rains. The electrical controls are a pain and look like they are put together by an amateur. Only good things are an adjustable shower and that you can see Kites (birds). They also have the cheek to insist you take off your shoes when they have wooden floors. Way below the standard for a high class hotel.

Tarobe is hidden away on a promontory on the outskirts of sleepy Tateyama, but really is a slice of old Japan. The room was equipped with all the usual amenities and was exceptionally clean and well-kept. The real highlight of the stay was dinner in the old private dining room - I'm not quite sure how old, but it very atmospheric and the sashimi set dinner was out of this world. The outdoor natural hot spring baths (there is a private one too) are a must, and the English-speaking owners had lots of recommendations for sightseeing and lunch spots. Overall, a very satisfying stay in a lovely old 'ryokan'.
