We loved our stay at Takatsuki work hotel! The staff couldn't do enough to help us. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The pillows were too hard for me, but that's about it. Location was perfect with shops right at the door.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel. First thing that "welcome" you was to remove your shoes at the doorstep - though was a bit inconvenient but got used to it later. Hotel is very clean. We got an upgraded room (with in-room spa). Staff was able to speak Mandarin. Hotel has coin operated washing machine & dryer. Breakfast (simple) is provided at 4F. Surrounding the hotel are many eateries and stores selling cheap staff (¥100 shop). These stores open way past 8pm (some until 11pm). Hotel is also a short walk and in between Takatsukishi Station (to Kawaramachi) and Takatsuki Station (to Kyoto). Can't ask for more.

Nice basic hotel for a short stay in the area. very near the metro/train station, restaurants, bars etc. The staff is very nice and friendly. There's a cool, chill izakaya right next to the hotel with a very friendly owner. Free coffee in the hotel lobby and in hotel laundry (coin operated).

Great cost performance compared to surrounding accommodation. Tiny loby and no public bath, but breakfast is provided at the Izakaya in front of it, and decent shower/bathroom. If you like better shampoo and conditioning, you can borrow those at front. No good view from window, instead small kitchen and fridge equipped. So for budget travellers can cook in the room. Additional plates and kitchen equipment are available for free. Microwave and washer/dryer are on the 2nd FL. Overall, great experience and enjoyed breakfast everyday!

I don’t understand the negative reviews in this listing, complaining about such minor things as not having instant hot tap water…this is one of the nicest most special ryokans I’v ever stayed at - which is why I have been here 5 or 6 times in the last 8 years. Similarly priced places in Kyoto cannot even compare to the clean quality of the accommodations, the amazing location, excellent food and, most of all the gracious and friendly staff.

I’ve stayed in hostels in the UK and Ireland and this is different in enough ways to make it interesting and very clean. Each guest is assigned a bunk, which is actually pretty much a box that you sleep in. However, it is big enough to be really comfortable and easy to get in and out. Outside of this, each person also has a space to store items and there is room between the boxes and a curtain, so there is space to change without having to go out into the full communal area (there are up to four sleeping pods in any one area, so this space isn’t totally private). The welcome upon arrival was extremely friendly and the girl who met us spoke excellent English. The facilities were spotless (two toilets, two showers and a row of sinks) and you can hire towels, but toothbrushes and use the laundry very reasonably. In terms of location, it is a very short walk from both Tonda Station and Settsu-Tonda (which is on the JR Line between Osaka and Kyoto - remember to get the local train if you want to get off here). In terms of security, although there is no overnight staff and it is not always manned during the day, we felt it was safe to leave our belongings when we headed out for the day. You need both a four digit code and your fingerprint to get in. One down side was that you need to climb a flight of stairs to get to the entrance. We had a large case among our luggage, though I’m fortunate that I am strong enough to lift it for that distance. All in all, a very convenient place to rest your head in comfort for a few nights at a very reasonable cost.
