Comfortable and clean, a lovely get-away in the mountains
Reviewed By summ3rI booked La Foret Fukiya online and the process was fairly painless. La Foret is deep in the mountains around Takahashi so a car with GPS is essential to getting there. There are just too many winding mountain roads to find the hotel without GPS, and it's too far from the nearest railway or bus station to take a taxi. Check in was fast and easy. We were given the choice of Japanese or Western style room at check in and chose a Japanese style room. This turned out to be a suite which was huge by Japanese standards. There was lots of room in the bedroom which held two futons on tatami mats, a television, and a sliding door overlooking the courtyard. A separate sitting room held two couches, coffee table, and a small refridgerator. There was also a regular sized (for Japan) 3 piece bathroom. Everything was as clean and comfortable as you could wish. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel as they were included in the room rate. Both dinner and breakfast were simply prepared yet delicious Japanese meals. I've included a picture of the table with the first courses that were laid out for us for dinner. Everything was prepared with care and beautifully presented. The waitress was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our meals very much. After dinner we visited the public baths. The baths were divided by gender, the facilities were clean, and the water was lovely. Note - most other onsens we have visited provide towels for guests to pick up at the baths, but La Foret does not. We hadn't noticed the towels in our rooms and had to go back to get them. Take your towels with you! I'd recommend La Foret Fukiya for a romantic get-away but you'll need a car with GPS to get there. Be sure to take the time to visit the hot spring bath!

電車で一人旅でも安心
Reviewed By d4iqui備中松山城の雲海を見たいと思い、高梁市付近で安く宿泊できるところを探していたところ、こちらを見つけました。旅行中は一人で電車移動だったので、中心街の備中高梁駅から二駅の備中川面駅から徒歩圏内にゲストハウスがあり、アクセスの面でも非常に助かりました。スタッフの方も親切でいろいろなお話を聞けて良い経験となりました。ありがとうございました！
