The best available hotels & places to stay near St-Paul-de-Vence

This small, relaxed town’s artsy side runs deep. Chagall lived here, and great art museums such as the Maeght and Saint-Paul’s Museum are in town or just outside it. Its Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs was one of the last commissions undertaken by the Belgian artist Folon. Walk along the ancient city walls for great views—and bring your own sketchbook. Maybe you’ll be inspired too.

Villa St Maxime

Villa St. Maxime was designed and built as an intimate, luxury Hotel - Villa d'Hotes. The Villa is a short walk from the village of St Paul and also the famous Maeght Foundation, it is in fact the closest hotel in St Paul to the village, with the convenience of not being within the walls for easy access and parking. The Villa is very much a modern work of art itself: it is constructed of albinic Provencal stone sculpted in bold sweeping lines. The Villa enjoys an airy modern feel, while retaining a comfortable and intimate ambience, with great views of the village and the sea. The suites and rooms have luxury appointments, ensuite facilities. A Champagne breakfast, including freshly cooked eggs, and evening aperitifs are included in the room rate.

Perfect as ever...

This is my third visit to this beautiful spot, which is my ideal of what a country inn should be. Everything - - from the kind and helpful staff to the location, just a short walk from St Paul, to the cleanliness of the pretty guest rooms, the glorious infinity pool, and the magnificent omlettes and buttery croissants at breakfast - - is relaxed perfection. Highly, highly recommended.

Not a 4 Star....Very disappointing

Reviewed By Ush2510

The hotel is advertised as an amazing boutique style hotel, there is a lot of emphasis on the marketing and work that has been undertaken to take this hotel to another level and offer a fantastic environment for their guests. However upon check in i was already very disappointed. The staff did not speak basic english, the information given to us was in french and not english, again this is basic check in information. we found communication very difficult. The room we were given had a strong odor of sewage we requested to change our room, this was accommodated which we appreciated however the rooms again are basic and not as expected as per the website and marketing materials. Again communication was difficult with staff, requesting basic facilities such as an iron took over 30 minutes as no one understood what an iron was. The hotel location was very inconvenient to us we were not aware that ubers did not travel to the hotel which meant us spending a lot of money on taxi's. This should be communicated to guests as this was a real disappoint to us in travelling to restaurants etc.. We wanted to try the spa, there was no one to greet us show us around or give us towels. The spa was VERY basic and not really a spa. We went to reception to ask for towels and the attitude we were presented with from one of the staff was horrendous. We also had breakfast and again for the price we found this very basic. Overall i would never return to this hotel, the location was not convenient, the hotel is not 4 star and the service certainly wasn't up to expectations. The staff require training and basic customer care training, what is advertised certainly is not what is actually delivered.

Toile Blanche

Run and owned by artists Leroy Brothers, Toile Blanche is hard to beat for its perfect mix of modern style, authenticity, comfort and art. Boutique hotel lovers will love this extraordinary place with extraordinary heart, just outside the center of picturesque Saint-Paul de Vence and near the glitz & glam of the French Riviera. It’s not a full-service hotel, more a home away from home. Pretty and pure, Toile Blanche hotel feels like a breath of fresh air in the South of France where ultra-classic luxury hotels dominate.

Rare gem, great team, great potential

I chose this hotel for its location in the heart of the charming village of St Paul, removed from the hords of Cannes with its ongoing film festival or other nearby towns like Antibes or Nice. I had stayed at the famed Colombe d’Or and wasn’t sure what to expect , i had booked a suite with a view. It was really well appointed plus a rooftop terrasse with an incredible view of the valley and the Mediterranean course, one of the best features is the central location in the heart of the village, you can walk off the door and meander around the many small alleys that house countless art galleries , bars and retail shops. No parking, no noise, just a lot of steps for exercise (burning calories with French food , always a good idea  The 16th century house that was built before the fortifications has an incredible charm but also presents many operational challenges (small rooms, cuisine & laundry amenities, only one elevator, tight stairwells, limited parking and access to car etc…) We were greeted personally by the GM Sebastien upon arrival and from that moment on, this hands-on manager made sure that everything we needed was provided. Sebastien works with a very limited but tight , professional and dedicated team: for what this small village compound doesn’t offer (big elevators, pool, Spa, valet, concierge etc..) this exceptionally warm and professional team makes up with attention to every detail and genuine hospitality. The youthful F&B manager Vincent manages the restaurant and bar with a wonderful team and the kitchen delivers a very simple yet fine cuisine. It is clear that the GM and his team share with the new ownership a great vision to develop this jewel beyond what it currently is: the new cellar/ wine tasting room, the new decorated lounge all point to a great direction to update /enhance this wonderful and unique property that we felt very happy to have discovered.

Hotel in the green

Reviewed By Buddha-ch

We totally enjoyed our 3 day stay at l’Hameau. The location is perfect in the green, immersed in a nice garden. The pool is quite large and fine. It is in walking distance to St. Paul village as well as Foundation Maeght. Rooms are very comfortable, excellent beds and a superb balcony. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing considering ist price: eggs etc were charged extra. Fresh fruits came cramped in a small bowl containing small pieces of melons, three greengages for each guest and half a kiwi for us two. An unwelcomed study of pedantry. We preferred to have dinner in Vence. It is easily reached by car and you find always a parking lot on the place „grand jardin“ just near the old town with its many restaurants. The atmosphere there is much better than in Saint Paul.

Excellent Hotel

We spent one night here. Booked directly via the hotel website as was cheaper than via the various search engines. Did not pay the extra for breakfast so just had a Deluxe Room (6). Great location on the edge of St Paul de Vence. Free parking at the hotel and less than 15 minutes walk to the edge of town (uphill climb on the way back!). Hotel is very nice and clean. Lovely lounge area to relax. Large pool area (water quite cold) with loads of seating). Room was good. Safe, TV and hair dryer. Free Wi-Fi. Bath/shower. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
