A full home cooked breakfast is served daily, including local specialties from the region. Hosts are happy to share their love of the North Country and send you on a variety of adventures. The B&B is comfortable and allows for relaxation either inside or on the upper and lower porches. A short walk to downtown shops, cafes, and St. Lawrence University.
I enjoyed my stay here and had the place to myself for three nights as the only guest. The Rouse Room was comfortable and roomy. The bath towels were thick and awesome. Tasty breakfasts were made to order and I enjoyed the conversation with Julia and Kate, who prepared my breakfast each day. I also had a nice chat upon arrival with Charles; he was engaging and a nice guy though I never saw him again after that. I also met his two adorable kids a couple mornings during breakfast. The was delicious coffee cake and cookies on offer at any time. There weren't any specific beverages available that I was aware of outside of breakfast and I didn't want to raid the fridge so I helped myself to water from the faucet. There was no cup or glass in the bathroom which I thought was odd. Also, my room had a balcony but no chair to sit on. No one asked if i wanted the room refreshed each day and it was not. I did not have a problem with this but it would have been good to have been asked. These are all minor quibbles from a great stay and I recommend 24 East Main when staying in Canton.

With a hectic schedule of events in May in the North Country, we reserved our stay at the Hampton Inn a year in advance for college graduation weekend. With a full house of guests, the General Manager, Paul, Office Manager, Kathy, and Jami in Executive Housekeeping worked tirelessly with their staff to graciously accommodate the needs of all and ensure a positive and memorable experience. Check-in and check-out was prompt and efficient, rooms were clean and fresh with various toiletries, and a complimentary breakfast of freshly stocked items was well-prepared and a great way to begin each day. Although our "college years" in Potsdam have come to an end, we will highly recommend the Hampton Inn, Potsdam to all who follow.

I wanted to write a review here with situation that happened to my husband. I am so very upset. I wrote this to Clarkson Inn on May 24, 2022 and they have never responded: Dear Clarkson Inn, I just want you all to know that I am very upset with your customer service and your unwillingness to change a reservation. My husband who booked an overnight room with you a few days ago through Engencia. However, he did not sleep well last evening and unfortunately is not able to travel today. My husband, myself and Engencia consultant contacted you to request that the reservation be changed to tomorrow night. The gentleman on the phone would not make this change. Your hotel was not loosing any money just an update for the next night. There are rooms available tomorrow night as well. My husband and I are so upset about this. When my husband was told that no changes can be made, he did attempt to make the drive to Pottsdam from Geneva, NY. He traveled about 50 miles and did not feel comfortable to travel the remainder of the trip as he was getting tired at the wheel. My husband does a lot traveling with his job and so for him to make that executive decision to come back home was not made lightly. He did not want to take the risk of a possible accident. Your hotel did not have the compassion for his situation and would not help us out and make a small change. We will now be charged full amount for this reservation ($143). This is not fair and a hotel your size should be able to accommodate unplanned situations. The way the economy is today and the way the world is today, you would think that we would all be trying to help each other out. I will be posting a very negative review on trip advisor as I am so very upset. To date, I have not received any response from the Inn. Poor Poor Customer service. No one cares anymore. Makes me sad.

Sherman Inn is a luxurious bed & breakfast that once served as one of the region's oldest elementary schools. The Inn's distinctive style, combined with its unique sense of North Country history, creates an unforgettable experience consistently exceeding expectations. With spacious guest suites, superb service, and an excellent breakfast, Sherman Inn is an ideal place to stay for any occasion. Discover a side of historic Ogdensburg, NY as you've never seen it before while enjoying a luxurious stay that you'll always remember. Sherman Inn's common areas include a 1) galley kitchen with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave, 2) downstairs parlor for relaxation, featuring several sitting areas, dining table, and piano, and 3) first floor library including breakfast area, sitting area with TV, board games, eclectic selection of books featuring Ogdensburg, NY history, yearbooks, and some local family scrapbooks.
The Sherman Inn, a B&B in the wonderfully refurbished former Sherman Elementary School, easily rates an A+ or a 100 or any other top grade that springs to mind. The beds are luxurious and the breakfasts are to die for. The credit goes to Donna and James Reagen who bought the unique B&B two years ago and turned an already good place into something extra special. Donna is a wonderful cook with a real flair for interior decoration. Jim used to run the local newspaper, is an elected county legislator and a top aide to a New York state senator. He is also a historian. The two are wonderful conversationalists and more than willing to share their vast knowledge of the Ogdensburg/St. Lawrence County region and neighboring Canada. The rooms (really the old classrooms) are huge and spotless, as are the bathrooms. Each room is named after a U.S. president who visited Ogdensburg. Want to brush up on Teddy Roosevelt? Stay in his Adirondack-themed room. You'll find the it filled with TR memorabilia, including a mounted copy of a speech he gave here. The vast collection of books even includes one authored by Roosevelt and illustrated by his pal, artist Frederick Remington. The wonderful Remington Art museum is a short walk away. The rooms even have black (green) boards. Unfortunately, our room came without chalk. I guess we'll have to lower that grade to a 99!

"We became a destination for many and hope to restore our facilities and trust to where it once again exceeds our customers' expectations.
I wish I could say the hotel was quaint, but it wasn't. The website made it look like it was going to be, but photos deceive. At least in the house, which I just think needs a complete renovation, it doesn't appear the owners have put hardly any of their profits back into their property, and it sorely needs it. The room I stayed in, 207, was sorely tired. The "century house" had broken and worn areas throughout. It just made you feel depressed. The beds were not comfortable, the toilet ran all night long, the air-conditioning unit didn't run for very long without switching off (and it was unseasonably warm). The breakfast was nothing special and consisted of bananas, apples, or tangerines, plus an assortment or packaged donuts or pop tarts, bread and bagels, coffee juice, and tea. The price for the stay should not have been $130.

We were delayed being able to drive home after going to the Eisenhower lock to watch theViking Octantis go through the seaway for the first time. We decided to find some place on the way home to spend the night. We booked at the last minute with no problem and arrived about 11:30 pm. Easy check-in, plenty of parking, well light area, very safe and quiet! The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable, I even had a pillow I liked (this is unusual for me). The shower was nice. I liked that they had a Keurig coffee maker. There was also a microwave and a fridge. We left before breakfast, which was at 6:00, so I can’t comment on that. In the morning we realized just how beautiful the location was! It was right on the St. Lawrence river. What a beautiful view! We would love to return sometime and just enjoy hanging out at this beautiful place! We left at about 6:00 and checkout was just as easy as the check-in!!

As we arrived into the lobby my 90 year old mother said maybe you should asked to see the room before we check in. I had good reviews so I checked in. As we arrived to the elevator I started to notice the rug was stained and pulling up. When we got to the room there were so many stains on one the rug that we didn’t dare put anything on the floor. After looking around decide to check right out. The place is filthy.
