Reviewed By EAZELIFFI came to this city to re-visit the gorgeous Baroque cathedral that I saw on a college tour -50!years ago. The Hotel Dom served the purpose very well. It is a modern facility tastefully done. My room was on the top floor, which only had two rooms, reached by an additional flight of stairs from the elevator. Not elaborate accommodations , but perfectly satisfactory. Breakfast was OK but somewhat simpler than other places I’ve stayed. It is run by an organization that employs some of those with disabilities, a novel and laudable idea.

Good chain hotel
Reviewed By PanguinYou can expect a minimum standard when you book a chain hotel. The front desk is professionally manned, the room is clean, the amenities in place, and the sleep and work areas thoughtfully designed. That's what you get here. There are two lights for each side of the bed, the work area has multiple power sockets. Breakfast was adequate with a short menu for hot food such as oats and omelette. It's a little off from the main action of the town (17 minute walk) but on the other hand it is quiet and there are several excellent restaurants within walking distance. I also found a laundry up the road. The hotel gives a free pass to ride the city bus. I discovered that on the last day and took a bus (any bus) to the train station. It had cost 12 CHF to get to the hotel from the train station.

Reviewed By voyageuur1860Good hotel. Beds are really good and the hotel is well located in the city. Quality of in room products are good as well as there is enough tea and coffee in the room for a couple of days without room service. The breakfast is really good, it is a continental buffet with many choices. Staff is sympatic and friendly. Nothing bad to say about this hotel. Nice place, deserve its fair price. U recommend it.

Reviewed By adizh77Location: Safe neighborhood and in walking distance from St. Gallen Main station. There are also bus stops just about 4 min away in case the 7 min walk to the station is too far. Rooms: Very spacious rooms, clean, new and with all amenities that you could wish for (fridge, safe, iron board, umbrella for rainy days, yoga mat, a backpack, coffee machine, etc. The family room also comes with a mini kitchenette. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet. The hotel is not on a main road and also away from the busy city center, so the noise level is very low. Staff: Extremely friendly in all the interactions we had and they fulfil your wishes before you even asked for them. Always a smile on their face, they are making you feel truly welcome. Breakfast: Amazing variety of warm dishes (eggs, bacon, etc.), cold cut meat, cheese, bread, yoghurt, pastries, juices. All what you would expect from a decent buffet but with just another level of quality. Every single person in our group of six was amazed. In a nutshell: In over 30 years of travel experience, this hotel comes very very high in my ranking.

Perfect for us
Reviewed By FatNat04We have now used this hotel 3 times as our daughter studies at the St Gallen university. The hotel is good value for money, rooms are well appointed, modern and perfectly clean. Staff is always very friendly. Breakfast is top and the restaurant opens up on a green garden, despite the fact that it is located in a commercial area. Very importantly for St Gallen is that car park is free so we prefer staying there and driving 10 minutes into town than staying in a more typical area but having to pay a lot for parking.

Well, it´s next to the railway, could be better but if you don´t mind hearing the trains coming and going shouldn´t be a problem. Make sure that you are travelling light as there´s only a really small storage space in the room. The staff is friendly.

Reviewed By Sam_7BaselThe stay was for 4 nights. Check in and check out was simple and quick. Room was spacious and comfortable with nice lake view. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was big and modern. Spa has hamam, sauna, nice whirpool, and internal swimming pool, good variety! My experience with massage was very bad, the spa manager removed it from my bill. The restaurant served breakfast with many varieties and dinner was 4 courses. Grade: Starter (5/5), soup (4/5), main (4/5), dessert (2-3/5). Service in the restaurant can be improved for example on first day dinner, waiting for 5 min by entrance till someone came and although informed 4 days ahead to reserve table at 19.00, there was no available table and needed to wait 20-25 min. Another time, asking to wait for 5 min for dessert but waited for 25 min and needed to ask again to bring dessert although waitress kept asking during eating if everything was ok! Breakfast was always busy so if you miss ordering something, it will take longer till someone comes to you again , sometimes they brought orders that belong to other tables, another time they forgot to bring extra bread and another dish after asking them. However, staff were friendly in general.
