Stunning overnight stay on our way back to Pretoria
Reviewed By Johan Christiaa... VMy wife and I was on our way back to Pretoria after a trip to Himeville, Umngazi, Hole in the Wall, Morgan Bay and Hogsback in the Amatola mountains. We drove on gravel roads to Cathcart and planned to sleep over at Aliwal North. Unfortunately the place we wanted to stay at was fully booked. We then decided to look at places in Smithfield, a small village that we normally would simply skip. The first place we contacted was Jasmine Cottages. Donald the owner was so nice and had a room for us . What a surprise when we arrived and our accommodation was actually a family unit with a lounge, dining area, kitchen, two separate bedrooms and two lovely bathrooms. As it was cold the aircon and the electric blankets were more than welcome. Donald also referred us to a nice restaurant for dinner. We will definitely stay over again if we are travelling in that area. Donald is a very interesting person who shared some incredible stories from his past. The accommodation compares well with hotels we stayed at during our trip. Absolutely special.

Reviewed By gailpension2015We stayed in one of the inside rooms with our own shower and toilet and had access to the kitchen if needed. The decor was quirky to say the least. Johan, the owner, was very welcoming and the breakfast he made us was delicious.

Reviewed By Andre CThe room that we stayed in is in need of filler and paint. We only had one bath towel for the two of us. Upon checking out on Sunday at 08:05, the establishment was deserted. We called the number on the door: no-one answered. We had to slide the keys underneath the door and had to leave without the included breakfast.Positives: the room and linen were clean and the accommodation offers fair value.

Authentic Farmhouse Charm
Reviewed By May vWell recieved by Amanda, a very attentive host. Had a superb stay over with lovely beds. This venue gives a real glimpse into a truly South African farm experience. Nice breakfast, pre-arranged. Lovely stoep for relaxing at sunset and having a cup of coffee in the morning. Supper can be arranged as well.
