This is a very pleasant small hotel, in a Rurel part of Germany, overlooking a massive lake which is used as a drinking water reservoir. It is a ‘Garni Hotel’ and so does not have a restaurant as such, but it is attached to the café run by the same family, which serves an excellent breakfast. However the café closes at 6 pm and so dining options are limited. There is a leaflet in the room giving some suggestions for dinner but unfortunately two or three of the local ones have closed down recently and the others, in the main town of Simmerath, or a fair drive away. The adjacent larger hotel, the Paulushof, is run by the same family and has a traditional German restaurant, which is fine for two or three nights, but I wouldn’t like to eat there every night for a week or so. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and comfortable, with excellent beds, and each room seems to have a good view over the lake. The staff are welcoming and friendly although have limited English, as this is not really an area where you see many British tourists. The only thing that stops it being a five star review is that they should spend a few more euros on some decent towels! The towels in our room were very small and thin. I would’ve said so on check out but unfortunately my “tourist German“ did not really run to that............ Overall a very pleasant hotel and I would certainly stay there again, but it’s probably more appropriate for a couple of nights whilst driving to and from the Hook ferry rather than somewhere to stay for a week’s holiday.

I felt I needed to provide a review as Tripadvisor rates this hotel really high and I am baffled as to why. The room was basic and dated. We were positioned facing the back of the hotel overlooking the backyards of the neighbors and the ventilation system for the kitchen. There was a glass fire door in the hallway that, unless propped open, would slam loudly whenever guests entering your half of the hotel passed. There was a shared balcony area with shared refrigerator that we did not use. The hotel staff wasn't very friendly and there were times entering the hotel where my greetings went unanswered. All the required covid sanitation was available. The restaurant was overpriced (most dishes for dinner were 19-26 Euros) for really, at best, slightly below average food. I ordered rinderbackchen, apfelrotkohl, and serviettenknodel. The beef was riddled with congealed fat which was terribly unappetizing and I chose to leave one of the two beef steaks rather than eat it. The potato cakes were microwaved and flavourless. The best was the red cabbage and that was likely out of a can. My partner fared better with the mushroom schnitzel which was the better choice. We had breakfast on the terrace which is really the best part of the hotel. It overlooks the reservoir and catches early morning sun. Overall, if you need a place to stay it's not terrible and after reading the reviews perhaps if we had a reservoir-side room with a terrace we would have enjoyed it more. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant for dinner but if you are absolutely starved order the basic schnitzel. Drinks on the terrace are also pleasant.

Stayed for a night in May for our trip to Monschau. The room, including the bathroom, is nice and clean. In fact it is a lot better than what it looks in pictures ! The only downside is that our room was facing the street and there was some noise of moving cars at night but since we were jet lagged we fell asleep immediately and didn't bother us much. The vinothek looks nice - sadly we didn't have the time to try it out due to time constraints. The breakfast spread was very good - even though we are vegetarians, there were enough options like cereals, different type of breads and jams, fruits, yoghurts, tomato and cheese, etc. to eat. The staff is very helpful. Highly recommend this hotel.

We stopped at this hotel for a coffee. We were warmly welcomed and the place was spotless. Coffee was a treat, not just an ordinary coffee, but a coffee served with whipped cream in a separate glass, plus milk and a nice chocolate by the side. Well worth a visit

We slept here 1 night when we were doing the Vehnbahn bicycle route. The hotel is at 750 m from the Vehnbahn, in the quiet village of Lammersdorf. The small hotel is very clean, with rooms with private bathroom and standard comfort and new flatscreen TV. Some rooms have balcony. The owner is a friendly man. Due to the Covid 19 crisis, reception is not always open, but you can always reach the owner by phone or Whatsapp. For the moment, the restaurant and biergarten are closed too, and there is no possibility to have breakfast. But there is a common fridge with fresh drinks, and a common waterboiler with tea and coffee, you may use. There is a box where you can put some money for the drinks. A bakery is just around the corner. They do luggage storage. There is free parking for cars and you can park the bicycles in a safe place. We can just recommend the hotel for its location when doing the Vehnbahn, and for the good price/quality, and the friendly owner! We hope that the restaurant can open again very soon!

This hotel is very nice. It is in a quiet little village and near some bigger cities. It's wonderful hiking area. The hotel is somewhat outdated, but it is very clean. The breakfast and dinner was very nice, and the kids had special kids menu. The only negative things were, there's no WIFI or public internet and the swimming pool was very cold! We like to come back sometime.

A hotel (next to the church) that we can absolutely recommend if you don’t mind the attention points here below. Plus: Small hotel (11 rooms). Our room (double comfort) and private bathroom were spacious and clean ; both had a window. The bedroom had a convenient clean wardrobe and a safe. Dominic and staff were very friendly and mostly helpful. Good breakfast buffet. Nice breakfast area with large windows (and view on the church). Electric bikes for rent. Good starting place for hiking and biking in the national park Eiffel (or for visiting Vogelsang IP). Attention points: The restaurant of the hotel was closed while we stayed there. (There are a couple of other restaurants in the small village of Einruhr but don’t expect refined cuisine). The hotel reception closes in the afternoon. Once the reception is closed, there is no accessible sitting area in the hotel (except in the room of course that had a well-sized flatscreen TV). However, the hotel offers easy self check-in for when the reception is closed.

We stayed for two nights here. First the Plus: very friendly owner (the daughter apparently took over the place just a few time ago) and the breakfast (as this is a small hotel the variety and the quality of the breakfast is very good, a lot of local products). The rooms are spacious and seemed to be renovated not long ago. Especially the bathroom is well modernized. As the price is not the cheapest I would still expect the hotel to pay more attention to the details as the wallpaper and the skirting board are loose at several spots in the room.
