Adventure Hotel. More specifically... A historic hotel/hostel with a kitchen, deck, beer garden, movie theater/live music venue, and cozy wood stove. Recently rehabilitated and brought back to life with the stated purpose of providing a home base for the majestic San Juan Mountains. Travelers, adventurers, outdoor-enthusiasts, musicians, and artists will find themselves at home. Bring your pup as dogs are encouraged! A red-brick building set in the town center on the corner of 10th and Blair. Several restaurants, bars, and gift shops are within a couple blocks walk. It's a half-mile from Highway 550, 15 minutes from Silverton Mountain, and 30 minutes from Purgatory Resort. Amenities include free WiFi, free coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and daily housekeeping. One-of-a-kind style with mesmerizing ambiance and charm. There are 3 tiers of rooms: private rooms w/ private baths, private rooms w/ shared baths, and hostel-style bunks (shared rooms w/ shared baths). The shared baths are recently renovated and comfortable. There's a women's room and a men's room. They both have 2 private showers, 2 private toilets, and 2 sinks. At most, 5 rooms utilize the shared baths so crowding is rare. A unique and memorable experience in a unique and memorable town.
The experience was wonderful. Dan was able to get us an affordable room pretty late at night. We were given a tour of the historic hotel and it was a lot of fun. One could tell there was a lot of work done to the hotel and they have big plans for the future. Can't wait to return when more is completed. We appreciated it as a family.

Adventure by day. Luxury by night. A taste of history and opulence in the heart of the rugged San Juan Mountains... For 134 years, the Grand Imperial Hotel has been a beacon of Victorian luxury, elegance, charm, sophistication, and service throughout the Four Corners region and across the Southwest. Often referred to as “The Grand Lady of the San Juans,” “The Crown Jewel of Silverton,” or simply “The Grand,” the Grand Imperial Hotel is a recently-renovated, 40-room historic Victorian hotel on Silverton’s Golden Block in the heart of the city’s business district. The hotel serves as the gateway to the San Juan National Forest and all of its adventure and outdoor recreational offerings. Originally constructed and opened in 1883 by New York perfume and lumber magnate W.S. Thompson, the Grand Imperial Hotel offers guests the unique opportunity to luxuriously step back in time to the days of the Old West when Colorado had just joined the Union and when Silverton was a thriving, bustling mining mecca. The Social Center of the San Juans, this beautiful, fully renovated Victorian Era hotel is the center piece of Silverton, Colorado. All 32 of our rooms have private bathrooms and 42" flat screen TVs with DirecTV

Silverton’s only 3 Diamond AAA Lodging. Recommended by the New York Times, the Guardian newspaper of London, and our many wonderful guests. The Historic Alma House Inn is the absolute best value in luxury accommodations you will find anywhere in the Colorado Rockies. We offer comfy beds, free wi-fi, 32 inch televisions, parlors to relax in, books to read, a large outdoor hot tub, a fully served wonderful hot breakfast, personal attention, beautiful grounds and gracious hospitality, all within the historic home Bridget Hughes built more than 115 years ago. While you may book online at various sites, we would prefer to hear from you personally to insure a relaxed and peaceful visit. Pet friendly! The Historic Alma House Inn, graceful elegance in the heart of Silverton’s Historic District.
My mom and I had the pleasure of staying at the Alma House for three nights this spring. What a treat! Thanks to the hosts, Betty and Albert, it felt like we were visiting old friends, rather than staying at an impersonal hotel. My favorite part was probably the amazing, gourmet breakfasts which Albert creates and Betty serves each morning! He pays special attention to any dietary needs and made mine vegetarian. Every day we had something different, tasty, and beautiful! Not only is Albert a great chef, he's also a writer and a poet--just ask him to recite something for you..or even just read the creative guide that's left in your room, your can hear Albert's voice in that. Also, don't miss the coffee and fresh muffins that Betty places in the hallway each morning as a little treat even before you come down for breakfast! Each room was unique and lovely, decorated with an old victorian flair. The private back garden with hot tub (will have to try next time!), gazebo and seating areas is a sweet and tranquil oasis under the trees. I highly recommend a stay here--a place that is well taken care of and that truly takes care of its guests thanks to the owners and hosts! We'll be back for sure!

Booked online and confirmed with credit card information. Called and confirmed with staff 2 days before arrival. The next morning received an email that the hotel is booked. When we spoke to Naomi she said the hotel was closed and we could pay $110 more at another establishment. Is the hotel booked or is it closed? I guess we will find out when we arrive in town tomorrow.

We weren’t real happy with this hotel. First we booked our room at The Prospector and they were being renovated so they moved us to the Triangle, I booked this room in April, we were only notified if the change about an hour before our arrival. The room was nice and clean, however, we had big black ants in the room. We went to the office to let them know. The manager did come right over and she ran to the store to get some glue traps. They didn’t help and the ants were crawling on us, In the bed!! They never checked on us again or offered any compensation for the inconvenience. They wanted to move us to a room with a Queen bed, well, it was my husband and I and our 12 year old 5’6” son. No way would we fit in that bed. Also, we stayed for 4 nights and had several bags due to traveling for a total of 9 nights. If it was my hotel I would have definitely checked on my customers and compensated them.

Just like staying @ home. With full kitchens and living rooms. Bring the family and stay with us. Come down & have a drink in the Pickle Barrel and chat with Paul and Sharon, your host.
We booked the Anvil Room, 2 to 3 months in advance. I can't believe it gets good reviews, I had to clean all the solid surfaces in the room and disinfect everything, because it had been months since it was cleaned. The mattress was from the early 70's, I can tell because it had green stripes and a picture of a motel on it. Owner told me it was 8 years old, uh, no, not a chance. There were valleys in it that were 3 inches deep, I'm not kidding, wish I had taken pictures. The first night my hip joints were hurting so bad I had to sleep on the day bed, which wasn't too bad. The oven hadn't been cleaned in forever, the coffee pot was nasty and had old coffee caked on it. I asked after the second night if they had a topper to put on the mattress, he said it had one, yes it did but it was about an inch thick. It didn't do any good. He made excuses about why the room was dirty, that the window is open, and he had been working long hours, uh, no again, that filth had been there a while. He offered us a full refund for our 4 nights, I called and found another place. So disappointing, as we've never had any issue in any of the other places we have stayed in Silverton. I worked for 15 months to get a vacation, so excuses aren't acceptable. The picture is the wipes I used to wipe things down, filthy. We aren't high maintenance people either.

Prospector is the bare minimalist in accommodations in Silverton in summer and over priced for what you get. We won't be back. Including the wifi which has very limited bandwidth. I tried joining a zoom call and constantly got dropped. Eventually gave up. It's barely good enough to check your email and that's it. The bath towels are thin, rough and small, barely good enough to dry you off. We didn't get any soap. Fortunately we had our own. On the plus side it was a good sized room and had a good size refrigerator. The beds were ok but not great. They were a bit unevenly worn.
