Nestled in the heart of downtown Roanoke, our historic hotel welcomes guests with modern luxury and the warmest traditions of southern hospitality. In the gateway to Virginia's Blue Ridge, our hotel places you steps away from downtown's burgeoning culinary scene and arts districts. You'll be just minutes from endless mountain adventures. After exploring, the hotel's AAA Four-Diamond food and beverage options await, including the newly renovated Pine Room & 1882 Lobby Bar.
Location was perfect. Hotel is connected to downtown Roanoke by an enclosed aerial walkway. However, it sits on its own plot of beautifully landscaped land which makes it much quieter than downtown and we were glad we choose to stay here instead of in the middle of downtown. Self-parking isn't free, but it is plentiful and gated (there were four reserved spots for Hilton Diamond members close to the entrance). The hospitality started in the parking lot; a little electric golf cart followed us in to the lot and offered to drive us with our luggage up to the front entrance which would otherwise have been a bit of a trek to walk uphill with luggage. The lobby is grand and has two restaurants and a bar attached to it. At check-in, as a Hilton Gold I was upgraded from a 2 queen standard to an executive level 2 queen room which ended up being a spacious corner room. As others have mentioned, it is a bit odd that the executive level rooms are on the first floor. (The pool was right outside our windows on one side.) The room was beautifully appointed and even had a small table with two chairs in addition to a chair for the desk. The shower / tub temperature and pressure were good, although the tub was a bit slow to drain (it could keep up with the shower but only if the tub hadn't accumulated any water from the tub faucet yet). The TV had a hotel channel playing a documentary on the history of the hotel which I enjoyed watching, too. The executive room came with a $10pp F&B voucher in addition to the $15pp credit for being a Gold member, which I think was because the executive lounge no longer offers food at least in the evening, although sodas and supposedly coffee were still available. (I saw a bunch of people go in the lounge in the morning but I don't think breakfast is available anymore either.) The service in the Regency Room was top notch and five star for dinner. It was appropriately more laidback for breakfast but still excellent. We ordered off the menu for breakfast; most items are priced around $15 (basic drinks included in the price). Portions were generously sized, and while some items overlapped with the buffet, others (mains or sides) were only available from the menu. The buffet appeared to offer a dangerously large selection of excellent hot and cold choices for those who prefer it.

Coming into town for my special needs grandson and required specific room accommodations. After several calls to local hotels, was advised they could accommodate me. Tyen they changed my ADA room at time of check-in. Room had no toilet paper and several long hairs in the tub. Will not stay again.

My room was located on the first floor directly by the office. I found it very convenient to access every amenity the hotel offered. I must brag on the breakfast prepared by the cook. It was real eggs, crispy bacon, rosemary potatoes. On another occasion, she made homemade biscuits and sausage gravy. It was probably one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had and she paid attention to presentation and cleanliness. I was very impressed.

The good: The staff was welcoming and friendly. We chose this hotel for its location and walkability to downtown restaurants, etc. Parking was convenient, although confusing. We validated daily at front desk but were still charged $8 per day. The not so good: The expensive rate: ($300 per night) and we are Honors member and AAA for a regular King room with no views was not equivalent to the value received. We found out this rate was due due to two local college graduations and Mother's Day. For that rate we didn't expect unclean bathrooms, especially floors and discolored grout, elevator issues that left guests who got off the floor after us stuck inside for several minutes. The parking lot view and stained furniture was also a negative. Room 748 had a loud swarming noise that would only stop if door was opened or if you stuffed a towel along bottom of door. Sadly the hotel is aware of this yet put us in this room anyway without mention, so our first night was sleepless. The second night starting around 11:30 PM, there were very loud banging and scraping noises that woke us. Our son in room 744 could hear this loud banging too. Maybe they were working on the broken elevator? Not planning to stay here on future visits to Roanoke.

The Blackburn Inn & Conference Center is a tranquil historic hotel in Virginia less than a 5-minute walk from the excitement of downtown Staunton and the Shenandoah Valley. Savor relaxation and rejuvenation while easily exploring the local area, accessing nearby event hubs, shopping, dining, and more. You won't find a better B&B in Staunton, VA!
My wife & I spent a few days at the Blackburn Inn so we could take in the sights in Staunton. The building has been restored in a sort of resto-mod fashion in order to make it appealing to the modern travelers. Our room was at the end of the 3rd floor, very quiet and relatively comfortable considering the age of the building Oddly enough, our suite had two rooms but no closet or wardrobe. We missed the breakfast but had an early lunch in town. If you love old historic properties, this is for you.
