We've stayed in a number of places in Italy, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg since we visited here in 2016. We like trying different areas but turned to this hotel at the very last moment after a problem with an apartment in another town we had booked. What we've come to realise is that this really does offer an exceptional level of cleanliness, comfort and space at a cost much less than many of the other hotels and apartments we have stayed in. If you have a car, its the perfect base for exploring the wine festival in Wiesbaden (as we were) or the Christmas markets in December.

We were hiking the Rheinsteig trail from Wiesbaden and this was our first overnight stop. We had reservations and the owner was on hand to greet us. Rooms are very quiet and large. Bathrooms clean and beds comfortable. The owner was helpful directing us to a restaurant for the evening meal that turned our to be a great choice. Breakfast was prepared earlier than normal for us as we wanted to hit the trail. Selection of foods were great. WiFi connectivity was good. Pleasant place to stay / appropriately priced.

Schlangenbad is a newly appointed spa town so all the hotels are caching in. The Hotel Schlangenbader Hof is a 60/70's legacy establishment trying to attract the new influx of Dutch tourists by offering family friendly accommodation. Internet speed was fantastic but other than that, I found the hotel uninspiring. Breakfast was a simple affair and the dinner menu was limited although the staff did their utmost to pander to guests every whim. Guests were either elderly couples or young families.

I had booked this hotel after seeing how nice it looked and admiring it's unique style. When I booked it said that check out is at 7 am. Confused about this I decided to call the hotel to inquire about the time. Since I was calling from London the call didn't have the best quality reception on my mobile. I asked about this and since it wasn't a clear connection I asked him to repeat what he said and that is when he rudely raised his voice in the most shocking way at me even though I was extremely nice and apologetic before he began treating me rudely. That hotel instantly lost its appeal to me and I decided to cancel my booking right away. I had booked their most premium suite for two nights but it is not worth going there and having to deal with such a disrespectful and despicable service.
