What can I say. What a fantastic hotel, food was 5 star. Staff were excellent and very accommodating. Literally nothing was too much. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat. Thank you to everyone at hotel Daniel for making the experience perfect. Jamie & Corinne Pudney.

The staff at the Ritzlerhof were all pleasant and helpful, and the mountainous location striking, with some beautiful walks starting right at the hotel entrance. The building is modern and in excellent condition, although generally agreed to be lacking somewhat in 'gemütlichkeit'. Whilst the “a la carte” restaurant was attractive (although this did not actually serve an a la carte menu) the main restaurant was not dis-similar to that found in the better class of motorway service station. Regarding our stay, there were issues that we and others experienced that made us feel both uncomfortable and unwelcome. The cold reality is that this hotel appears to be run solely for the benefit of the owner and his family, regularly reserving the best table in the restaurant and the best seats in the bar, whilst guests are seemingly little more than an annoying necessity. The hotel is rated as 4-Star Superior, but this did not appear to reflect the actual facilities or levels of service during our (curtailed) stay, which were distinctly sub-standard. Other concerns included, but were not limited to, unruly and noisy children in what is supposedly an adult-only hotel including several children clearly under the age of sixteen in the spa and sauna, contrary to the establishments own rules, the placing of us in a room inferior to that reserved and agreed to with no option to remedy, the attempt to forbid dogs from the restaurant on certain days when such access was agreed at the time of booking, the outright non-availability of any food at lunchtime, the limited availability of reception (or, indeed, of any type of assistance out of hours) and, perhaps most seriously, the constant demands of the owner’s family to the obvious determent of paying guests. Indeed, what shocked us and others most was the apparent support by the owner for the actions of one specific family member, who, whilst openly admitting they had no involvement in the ownership or management of the establishment, was repeatedly officious, rude and arrogant towards hotel guests, seemingly with the intention of making them feel intruders in her own personal domain. The result of this was that many guests (us included) felt genuinely intimidated and consequently left the hotel prematurely. As far as we are aware, no attempt was made to dissuade the individual concerned from such offensive behaviour, nor was any attempt made to persuade those electing to leave prematurely as a consequence to remain. Additionally, one couple’s elderly mother was not permitted to remain in the hotel with her son and daughter-in-law over the Christmas period on the pretext that the house was full, which it quite clearly was not. We, nor any of the other guests we spoke to, would ever return to such a place (on the assumption that it is able to continue as a sustainable business, which, under the current ownership, seems most unlikely) and would counsel anyone considering staying at the Ritzlerhof to deliberate carefully before committing. The quote at the head of this review was taken from a Swiss newspaper article about the hotel’s owner, who is some sort of IT consultant. I rather suspect he will soon be reverting to his previous role.

Great accommodation! Everything is in a typical Austrian style refugee. Wood everywhere and a very clean fitted carpet on the floor. Comfortable beds and new baths. In every room you can find a free bottle of water and many delicious welcome treats!!! Great continental breakfast (best speck ever!!!! ). Always feel like home when you run into the owners of the accommodation, their children are very nice, polite and funny! Special mention for the owners of the hotel:very kind, nice and helpful people! They always put you at ease, giving advices on what is best to do. It has been a wonderful stay that I really suggest to everyone.

The room was way above expectations, very clean (cleaner than a 4star hotel we stayed at in Vienna), well organized and comfortable. The owners are very friendly, they maintain a very good communication and accommodate all requests for information and help. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. There was a smell of new wood that we loved, the furniture, flooring, doors, etc were like new. The room had a big terrace with an awesome view. I definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants to spend the vacation in the Tirol area! There is a children playground, free parking at the location with plenty of space

We staid here for 1 night on our way to italy... The people are really friendly, breakfast was good, there is a nice garden with pool and it's not too expensive... If we are going back to italy we will stay there again

Our 4 nights at Gästehaus Edelweiss was restful and comfortable. The booking process was smooth and Rosi & Roland were great at replying to emails (pre-payment was by way of a bank transfer). We were kindly picked up on arrival and dropped off to Öztal train station on departure. Our room was clean, a good size with a small table and chairs, ensuite and a balcony. The ski / boot room had heated boot storage. There is a games room with pool table and foosball table, books & toys for children. Breakfast was continental (muesli, bread, cheese, juice, yoghurt etc.). The ski-express bus stops directly outside and goes to Hochoetz (morning and afternoon). The main bus stop (Sautens Dorf) is a 10-15 minute walk and from there, buses go to Sölden, Obergurgl etc. Bus rides were free with a guest card issued by the accommodation. There is a convenience store along the way for fresh fruit, bread etc. There are 3 good restaurants (varying in price) within walking distance for dinner. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.
