Our stay was booked online and there was some communication problems as we did not understand chinese in the email. We ended up using Google translate and this led to some miscommunication (i.e. they thought we had cancelled therefore constantly having to reconfirm our booking). The location is in the countryside of Taiwan and was accessible by the close by Fuyuan or Guangfu stations. Which the hotel provided complimentary pick-up and drop-off. We quickly learnt that the resort mainly caters to Chinese speaking guests as there were very few English speaking staff, and signs were not translated. The villas are situated separately to the main reception, and there was golf carts that could take you there if needed. We had booked the Japanese suite and it was amazing. The room was spacious and sectioned off like a typical Japanese living space (entrance, main bed area, elevates floor seating, bathroom with spa). The highlight was definitely the private hot spring water spa. It was excellent quality mineral water as we had never felt so relaxed. The only negative was the drainage in the bathroom, as it could've been better since it was an open shower and the water never dried up. The mattress was comfortable but firm. We booked this mainly to see the Long Ying waterfall which is only a short hike from the resort. Unfortunately this trail was closed off due to a recent Hualien earthquake. There were many short walks throughout the grounds and up to the bridge. In general the place is run down and really needs a refresher. The butterfly house was dead. The plants were not looked after and this meant limited types of butterflies. Even the deers looked depressed. The butterfly exhibition was dusty and neglected. The outdoor public spas looked unappealing. Many areas were permanently closed and abandoned. They did not have any private spa options available when asked, even though there was a sign pointing upstairs for this. Note that you need to wear a one piece bathing suite to use these facilities. Dinner and breakfast were a mediocre buffet with limited options. There was a very lively indigenous show during dinner which asked for crowd participation. Seeing kids join in on the dancing and dessert making was heart-warming. After dinner we joined the night walk to see the fireflies. It was crowded and we were loss due to not understanding the tour guide especially in complete darkness. But we enjoyed it anyway as there were many fireflies to see. Overall, the staff were friendly and tried their hardest to make us feel welcomed. Our villa was amazing but the underlying issue still remains. The resort needs an update.

Be prepared for your kids to scream hysterically in delight. we stayed at their famous family room with bunk beds and a slide (google it). It didn't disappoint. The room was very clean despite there being an arsenal of toys in there. A lot of thoughtful touches were provided such as a toddler toilet seat and a step so that the kids can get into the bath etc. The best thing about this place is Mr and Mrs Lin who own and run the hotel (it's named after their son, his sister didn't get featured in the hotel name lol). Mr Lin picked us up from Ruisui train station and took our luggage back to the hotel whilst we hired bikes which we rode back to the hotel. Later on when we finished our stay she then took all our luggage back to the bike store (which is next to the train station) so that we could do a half day trip to JJ Valley Ranch. She also recommended the fireflies tour at DanongDafu which was fantastic. It was raining but we could still send plenty of fireflies and everybody got to choose a souvenir from the tour organisers (the kids got tie dyed handkerchiefs whilst we chose to take home bags of five coloured rice which incidentally is delicious) Whilst we were there Mrs Lin made sure that we were enjoying ourselves and her kids are just adorable. Mr Lin made our breakfasts and he would adjust bits and pieces of it based on our feedback and what's in season (in our time, was guavas). The kids were very sad when they left but I'm sure we'd be back again sometime in the not too distant future.

A delightful place to stay in Ruisui. Our room was huge and spotlessly clean. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. We had a sofa to sit on to watch tv! The ensuite was great, with a superb shower and ample hot water. We had a thoroughly restful and peaceful night here.

Great getaway for family/kids. Easily one of the best hotels on the eastern coast of Taiwan. Has a lot of pools (including hot springs) outside and indoor that are super clean and well maintained. Also has a bunch of kid-friendly activities and facilities including race-cars, mini-trains, playgrounds and slides. Price not as expensive as it seems as it includes dinner/breakfast. Agree with other reviews dinner times felt a bit restrictive and rushed, especially for family with kids. Food in building outside pool area could use improvement, in selection and taste. But other than that, hotel property, facilities, and service were excellent!
