Reykjavik bears the distinction of being the world’s northernmost capital, and for many Icelandic visitors it also serves as a gateway to the rugged adventure options beyond. Recharge after outdoor pursuits in one of the many geothermal springs or luxurious indoor spas. We appreciate Reykjavik’s open-minded and energetic culture that includes a hip and internationally recognized music and arts scene, great food and notoriously "enthusiastic" nightlife.

We stayed for a week at Lindergata 11, and were so happy we did. While ideally central to absolutely EVERYTHING, still a nice couple of blocks removed from the weekend nightlife noise. Compact, quiet, comfortable and modern with a nice bay view. Comfy bed and nice shower. We opted for breakfast included which was verrrry generous with coffees and juice, fruit and cheeses, cereal and milk, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, warm fresh bread and on an on. Seriously only lovely, helpful, caring and warm people work there. They immediately helped us out with a couple of difficulties we had and really saved us! They could use more places to hang clothes but that’s our only constructive criticism. When we return we can’t wait to stay there again! Home away from home.

Good location within walking distance of the old city. Friendly staff. Nice beer pub that serves perfect fish & chips. Only car parking was a bit puzzling. All in all a good choice for visitors that wish to explore Reykjavik.

Stayed here in May. Nice hotel, the staff are really nice and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Good location as bus stop 9 for tours 30 seconds away and 20 min walk into the center. The only negatives were there not being any storage for clothes such as a wardrobe in our room and there was a strange intermittent mechanical noise in the bathroom, but only happened during the day so didn't bother us really! Would stay again.

This hotel is very conveniently located near the restaurants and activities. We stayed in the standard room and found it big enough for two people. We had been confirmed for an upgrade but did not get it on check in. The staff here are exceptional. They were friendly, knowledgeable and were a big help both before we arrived and while there and answered a wide variety of questions. The breakfast was extensive and good. The rooms tended to be warm and opening windows could be a challenge.

Hotel Reykjavík Centrum is located in the bustling city center within walking distance of some of Iceland's best museums, restaurants and bars. The hotel opened in 2005 and is stands in one of Reykjavik's oldest streets, Aðalstræti. The hotel has undergone extensive renovations while maintaining its original charm as the oldest parts of the building were built in 1764. The hotel spreads over three buildings and during its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found. Among the finds excavated at the site were Iceland’s oldest human remains, dating from approximately 870 AD. The hotel has 89 rooms, each fitted with modern amenities, such as satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, mini-bar, radio, iron and board, hair dryer, safe and tea & coffee set. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with either a shower or a bath.
We checked in on May 26th in the afternoon. The room was located on the sunny side of the hotel and with the curtains open the temperature had to easily be in the mid-80's. We drew the curtain and opened the window a few inches, even though on the first floor, then left to explore the city. On returning in the evening the room was still unbearably hot. Around midnight I attempted to call the front desk to see if I was overlooking a thermostat. there was no pick-up of the call so I went to the front desk and informed that the rooms were not air-conditioned. I was given a plastic electric fan, which was useless as well as rattling. The noise with people and cars moving by the room made the experience feel unsafe as well as hot. So we were glad to be out of the room in the morning. Horrible experience.

We had had an enjoyable 2 night stay prior to our Iceland road trip and were looking forward to our last night here. We were flying out early the next morning and knew we could both park near the hotel and knew where to eat nearby. We got our luggage out of the car and went to check in. We were greeted by a beaming receptionist who informed us that the hotel was fully booked, that there was no room for us and that we had been "upgraded" to a sister hotel in the centre of town. We were not happy and couldn't understand why we had been bumped as we had booked and paid 6 weeks in advance! She showed us the hotel on a map and explained that it was "just down the road " with parking that was free on the street after 6pm. What she failed to tell us was that the road was pedestrianised part way down and that the hotel was in a maze of one way streets. 30 minutes later and stressed we were able to park 300 metres from the hotel. We had planned a restful evening before our 4.30am checkout and as such had arrived in good time at 6pm to our booked hotel. We were very disappointed as we ended up in a noisy city centre hotel on a Friday night as a result of which we barely got any sleep. Beware of booking this hotel if you are a couple as they obviously favour tours over individuals.
