The Best!!! Amazing Location, Staff and Atmosphere

Reviewed By TravellingCoolCat

I came here with my family, 2 adults and 2 children (aged 10). We stayed in an apartment with garden view, this was two rooms, separate bathroom and mini kitchen area with fridge and hob. Outside we had our own garden and patio area. The room was basic but really spacious with plenty of storage. After a few days our electric went so we were moved to a room with a shared private pool. The room was similar but the addition of the pool was great. The reception staff were wonderful and really helpful when it came to us changing our rooms. The location is exceptional, it is right on the beach which is clean, clear and simply stunning. There are hundreds of loungers and when we visited there was so much space to move around. You can hire boats for a fee, we went on the jet ski and the sofa which was pulled by a speed boat. Both were lots of fun. The hotel resort itself is huge so nothing ever felt cramped or overcrowded. There are plenty of pools dotted about and the slide is great. The food was lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed eating in the restaurants which overlooked the sea. The fresh fruit is divine, the cherries and strawberries are unreal. The deserts were delicious - I don't normally eat deserts but I couldn't help myself with the ones at the buffet every evening. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all superb. The staff in the restaurants were polite, professional and friendly. My children loved their fist pumps as they arrived and left every day :) I must give a shout out to the Animation Team - Pink Positive. They really did make our stay very enjoyable. They work really hard to make sure guests have a great time from morning until evening. My family and I enjoyed playing boules on the beach, table tennis, darts, and engaging in the stretches, yoga and pilates. Then in the evening the team worked hard to entertain us with quizzes, shows, discos and games for the children. The shows are brilliant and really funny, and the team in general are really inclusive and positively bonkers (loved them!). I honestly think if they weren't there the holiday wouldn't have been as good. This is definitely one of my favourite holidays, none of us wanted to leave and are certainly keen to return. The location, staff, food, service and beautiful weather make this a truly great place to come.

Mare Dei Suites Hotel Ionian Resort

Mare Dei Suites Hotel is located in the beautiful Southern region of Peloponnese near the village of Skafidia and town of Pyrgos in the Elis region. The hotel has an eye-catching setting of nature offering a panorama of the Ionian Sea, the sea of the ancient Greek Gods, a fact to which it owes its name. The hotel overlooks a magical little bay while harmonically resting on a naturally green hillside. On the golden sandy beach our guests will come across by natural springs and beautiful rock formations as well as natural argyle. Most of our rooms enjoy unimpeded views of the daily journey of the Sun and the Moon until they disappear into the deep waters of the Ionian Sea. All that while listening to the soothing sound of the soft waves and the salty breeze touching the skin.In Mare Dei Suites Hotel each spot will give you the feeling of relaxation and quietness. A golden beach with your private sunbed, our beautiful swimming pools, the pool bar, the well-cared garden with herbs and flowers, our Traditional Mediterranean restaurant, our Spa Center and a conference room which can be transformed to one’s needs.

Stunning hotel with exceptional beach, pool and service; and with best-of-class practices during the covid-19 period.

Reviewed By SailingOm

This is our third review of the hotel since 2015. The superlatives remain: the hotel has the only properly secluded good size beach in the whole of Greece. It combines that with first class accommodation with top quality fixtures and fittings, generous balconies and views from almost all the rooms, a large swimming pool with infinity views and a breakfast which continues to delight every day. Service remains top-notch, with attention to detail which perhaps requires multiple visits to be noticed and appreciated: key staff at reception, at breakfast or in the cleaning crew have been with the hotel for many years; cleaners come in twos and do a truly impeccable job (our children's stuffed animals safely tucked in each time...) and with a very disciplined, reassuringly detailed approach to Covid-19 protocols. Breakfast is no longer buffet due to Covid-19 but the service is very fast, including when eggs are cooked to order: we are always 'complicated' and order fried egg, poached egg and omelets at the same time, always fast, always good, never a problem. Pastries often have a surprise side to them, in addition to the more predictable cakes and pies. The main attraction here remains the superb location and the secluded beach. The quality of the beach rivals that of any in the country. We often sail around Greece in our own boat and know all the deserted unpopulated islands from Rineia and Poliegos in the Aegean sea to Paxoi and Kastos in the Ionian: there is simply no beach better than this: the sandy seabed, the gentle child-friendly slope of the sea-bed, the sandy quality of the beach itself, the fascinating envelopment of the beach at its two extreme ends by rock formations in the sea, perfect for scuba-diving, that also create their own little beaches on the sides fed by argyle deposits (the children play in the argyle mud for hours on und) - all this with never more than 10-15 people to share it with even at the peak of the August holiday period: where else in Greece - or in the Med - can you find this quality of beach in such seclusion? And a word for the surroundings: the hotel is the destination in its own right and has a good restaurant with just breathtaking views. Outside the hotel, the nearby village of Leventochori has two simple but very good quality tavernas. Plenty of good places to eat and drink in nearby Katakolo but caution is required to avoid periods when enormous cruise ships are at anchor and inevitably dilute levels of service. Some of the Katakolo restaurants on the long and wide sandy beach are really worth trying out. Overall this is a truly exceptional hotel, in a privileged position with what is arguable the best secluded hotel beach in Greece. Superb rooms and top class service complement the picture. All in all, we still would not dream of going anywhere else for the beach holiday part of our summer holidays.

A retreat away from the noisy towns

Reviewed By Aqua_Uomo

This is a family operated business and owned with pride. The place is peaceful, the hotel is super clean and very well maintained. We, 6 people, stopped for a night on our way to Corfu from Napflio and Dimitsana. This place is a gem in the middle of nowhere, I am so glad I picked this place. My friends loved it! The rooms are not very large but roomy, extremely clean and comfortable. Large balconies with patio chairs. The grounds are manicured, gorgeous landscape, lots of plants and flowers, see my pictures. They water the grass and wash the alleys and the parking every day. Lobby and the Restaurant are also in top shape, we ate dinner and breakfast the next morning. It was not the full season and they didn’t have everything on the menu but whatever they had was plenty and delicious. Same for the breakfast, there were a few tourists and they didn’t run the buffed, we had French service but were a lot of plates with fresh cold cuts, cheese, butter, jam, eggs ….more than sufficiently. They were all friendly and very accommodating. We felt so good that in the night time we didn’t want to go to bed, we spent a lot of time outside on the terrace having drinks and enjoying the magic evening. The whole place felt like a place from a fairytale. I fully recommend this hotel if you are in the area. If not for the night just stop for a break, you will love it. Two thumbs up!

I've traveled to many cities in mainland Greece in the last 2 weeks and my experience here in this region (Patra and Pyrgos in general) was the worst yet. I had no choice but to stay since I arrived after the last bus out of Pyrgos had already left. This hotel was my 3rd try. I also looked at rooms in Ilada hotel (every room smelled like an ash tray) and hotel pantheon (every inch of that hotel is gross- don't let the pictures fool you). While hotel Marily was a step up as far as cleanliness, it was still pretty bad. None of the balcony doors in any of the rooms lock, wifi only works on first floor, I could barely maneuver in the bathroom. I had to sit sideways on the toilet to fit and the glow of the light on the air conditioner defeats the purpose of turning off lights. I probably would have been better off sleeping with lights on. I didn't sleep.... The next morning, the manager was very rude when I asked him why the wifi wasn't working in my room. I was planning to stay 2 nights but the conditions were so terrible that I went to the bus station to leave pyrgos all together after only one night. When I went to check out, the manager threw my passport at me. The whole area in general is digusting- full of abandoned, crumbling buildings and trash everywhere on the streets. I can still smell pyrgos and I am long gone. If I ever return it will be to take a ferry from Patra to one of the Ionian Sea islands timing it right so I don't have to spend the night anywhere near those two cities.
