Photos and description are misleading, the hotel is unsafe, everything is old and smells of damps. If you use the lift, make sure it's there before entering, or you'll fall to your death. Emergency exits are used as storage. Moreover, put your email once on their 'contact' form, and not only you won't get any response, but you can be guaranteed to be spammed straight away with no option whatsoever to make it stop. Their email address ([email protected]) bounces back all the time, so don't expect any response there either. Stay away, it's a scam!

Barreal is a one horse town, we didn't see any other places but suspect that this place is a solid choice. It's hard to find the hotel. The best bet is to stop at the tourist office in the main street and they will give you a map and mark the place on it as it is out in the suburbs (if one horse towns have suburbs). The place doesn't have many rooms, they are more like cabins, but ours was fine. It had a kitchen and was very clean. It even had a small balcony. No air con but there was a breeze (this is a hot part of the world in summer). We asked for dinner and the food was fine, steak if I remember and a bottle of wine. We ate outside as it is still warm after dark and there were no bugs or anything. Breakfast was fine and the bill for supper seemed reasonable. Cash only but takes dollars. Wifi was very good near main house.

The hostel is very comfortable. The beds have their own lights and there is even a curtain for every dorm bed. The people who run the place are very friendly and helpful, however their English is not very good, so brush up on Spanish.

Stayed at the hostel for a night. Staff have limited English except for owner who was very helpful in arranging transport taxis. Basic accomadation. I was in top bunk though no ladders to climb. Ok going up but in darkness at night trying to him to toilet without stepping on bottom bunkee was tricky!!! Toilet was basic as had to pull the cistern handle through wall to flush and paper went in bin beside the toilet. Clean and tidy though 1960s feel!!! Internet hit and miss so not reliable. Lockers in room were wooden cupboards so pick the right ones as some have no partition from each other!!! Breakfast basic tea, coffee, crackers, spreads. But hey you pay for what you get. Basic accomadation but good for the price. Would I stay there again?? Yes but would bag a two bed room as they are twin beds not bunks.
