L'Oasis

Beautiful Location

Reviewed By Sue L

We only stayed here for one night on our return journey from UK to Spain, and we were delighted with our choice. There is plenty of off road parking in front of the beautiful old house, the rooms are spacious with superbly comfortable beds. We were made extremely welcome and offered refreshments immediately. The outside seating area is wonderful, we had brought our own food with us as dinner was not available at the house and we did not want to drive anywhere after our long journey, so we were encouraged to make use of the dining table on the patio. What a marvellous end to the day, sitting drinking the wine that our hosts provided, listening to the birdsong. The breakfast is plentiful, juices, cereals, various yoghurts, croissants, bread, homemade jams, fruits and some wonderful cheeses. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, this is a real gem.

We opted for the honeymoon suite - nicely located and a large comfortable room. Wonderful Hosts who were kind and efficient. Beds are large and comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Wonderful breakfast. Easy parking. We were 'en route' and only stayed for a night but i would be happy to stay here for a week as the surrounding areas are delightful. Thank you Mattieu x

Exceptional and special

The 5 star reviews speak for themselves, but Les Armateurs really is beyond excellent. It is an exceptional and special place where everything just has that extra wow factor. The property, the rooms, the pool and gardens, the fabulous riverside setting, wonderful home-made breakfasts and the warmth and charm of Patricia and Stephane. We travel a lot and this was a real stand out. Port d'Envaux is a find in itself too. Stephane has excellent English. Very highly recommended.

Beautiful, faded grandeur.

We felt very privileged to be able to stay in the chateau. There are only two guest rooms and ours was huge with beautiful views over the grounds and to the river. The bathroom was rather dated but this didn't spoil our stay, it rather added to the whole experience. We walked into the village at night for a meal. There are two good restaurants and a pizza place. Breakfast was fabulous and the most beautiful setting - in the original salon. It was like having breakfast in a National Trust property. We would definitely stay again as, even though we stayed at far more expensive and luxurious places on our trip, this was our favourite and certainly the most romantic and memorable.
