The Rock Shelter is unique in it's natural construction of sustainable, artisanal and consistent eco architecture, this technique follows the flow of the landscape by using primal material, orange earth, which is used in building walls made from adobe bricks, rammed earth, super adobe and bareque. We respect the local landscape and therefore adapt the big rocks of the land into the natural construction of walls, stone floors and furniture. Our natural construction includes recycling rainwater and greywater, our roofs have live vegeted gardens, we have rainwater collectors with natural filters and we water the gardens and fruit trees with a natural gravel filtration that collects the water from sinks, showers and laundry. We Catalina, Rodrigo and our daughter Antonia, live and work on our little guest farm in “La Mesa de los Santos”. This is close by to the famous outdoors sport and tracking destinations of San Gil, Panachi and Barichara. Our Beautiful farm is only 30 minutes away from the world famous rock climbing destinations of La Mojarra and La Roca in the Chicamocha Canyon. Before you go trackking, horse riding, rock climbing or rafting or to the close by local Market you will enjoy our rich and variable breakfast, you will sit outdoors in the mostly stable and sunny weather, the hummingbirds will play in the trees right next to you, and with a freshly made cup of organic local coffee in your hand you will enjoy the breathtaking view over the Mesa de los Santos.
