Fantastically beautiful accomodations with the most amazing hosts. I am grateful to have experienced this exceptional place. The candle light dinner and wood burning fireplace was dreamy, not to mention the beautiful breakfast in the morning. I Will definitely be back one day.

Nestled between two small rice fields and surrounded by forest, Tepi Sawah Lodge & Retreat can truly be called a “hidden gem”. If you’re looking for a close-to-nature getaway, “Tepi Sawah” is a good choice. The rooms are rather unique. Are they rooms, bungalows, cabins or chalets? It’s not easy to say, but they all have a special character and rustic charm. Let’s emphasize the word “rustic”. The accommodations are definitely not modern and luxurious – the simple and rustic bungalows are a step back to nature and simplicity. We have a kitchen and small dining area for our guests. We prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which can be enjoyed in the dining area, or served at your bungalow. You may want to join one of our cooking sessions as well. Our property is ideal for meditation and yoga retreats, and we are happy to reserve the entire property for such events. A last thought: while sitting on your terrace in the evening, keep in mind that you are in the middle of a forest and rice fields. Enjoy the close sounds of the creatures of the night, and the possibility of a field mouse visit as well. These are part of the charm.
Tepi Sawah Lodge is a real gem. Adi, the owner, is building a small number of lovely bungalows surrounded by fruit trees and rice fields, high up on the slopes of Batukaru, where the nights are beautifully cool and you will sleep to the sounds of frogs and cicadas, with the occasional brilliant fire fly flashing past. It feels like a secluded place, but that is what makes it beautiful, and I was made to feel welcome from the second I arrived - and the local village is only about 10-minute walk away. The bungalow I stayed in was beautiful, comfy, with a lovely outdoor bathroom, a kettle for making tea or coffee, and a verandah / outdoor seating area where I could sit, drink tea, eat breakfast, and watch the butterflies and lizards go about their day. Best of all, a big mineral water dispenser and free-to-borrow reusable water bottles meant that I left behind zero plastic waste. The food prepared by Kadek and Komang was the best I had in Bali, and it was fun to help prepare it to learn a bit about Balinese cuisine. I recommend taking a tour with Kadek (who is a lovely person and a great guide). I also recommend getting up at dawn one morning and just walking through the local village and rice fields while the air is fresh and clear - within 20 minutes easy walk you can get gorgeous views of the 5 main peaks of Bali. The only thing I didn't like about Tepi Sawah Lodge was that I only booked 2 nights there - I should have stayed longer!

They only have two rooms, fairly spacious and clean. The area is very quiet at night, perfect for those who wants to take a break from the island's hype. No minimart around so be sure to have all your supplies (toiletries, water and snacks) before entering the area. They charge Rp 200,000/additional person. They have several private hot springs, so that's nice. And the river next to the resort is clean too. I enjoyed my stay overall.

We had originally booked one night and extended to three nights at the beautiful Ti Amo Bali. We were enthusiastically greeted by Wimda, the manageress who gave us lots of information about the hotel offerings, the local area and possible tour options - she also gave us advice on DIY options as we arrived with our own scooters which was really appreciated. She clearly has a passion for tourism and the local area. The setting is stunning - rice field and mountain views surround. The view from the main window in our lovely wooden joglo looked like a postcard. The view from the pool is equally lovely. We just loved the feeling of being surrounded by nature - beautiful butterflies hovered around the pool all afternoon - there is an ambience of pure peace. And the proximity to Jatihluwih was fantastic for a day trip on the motorbikes - just perfect. The food - we had breakfast and dinner in house daily - was not overly fancy but always very tasty. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely and friendly staff. I would note that Ti Amo is likely not for everyone. Being in nature offers butterflies but also some bugs. I did miss having a mini fridge in the room. It’s much cooler in Penebel so our joglo had neither air con nor fan but neither was needed. The pool was a little chilly for me. But for those seeking a little bit of Balinese paradise, I couldn’t recommend Ti Amo more highly.

This place was great! The bed in the tent was confortable and the camp grounds are beautiful, and there's a common area with a bar, a pool table, and bean bags with cats and dogs hanging around. Sam & Yolanda are amazing hosts and really went out of their way to help us organise our trips. Whether you're going to climb the nearby Batukaru mountain or visit the Jatiluwih rice terraces or want more suggestions of what to do and see in the are, they are more than willing to help you out! Would definitely recommend staying in this place if you want to enjoy the other Bali away from the tourist crowds

Buana Asti homestay located at batukaru Montain area about 20 minutes from jatiluwih and 90 minutes from airport Ngurah Rai
Traveling the world, especially Asia, I always tend to help native community by directly buying goods from them,or supporting some small business. Staying at Buana Asti home stay is one of these choices where you interact with locals, their family and really have authentic experience of every day life. Gede, the owner, speaks very good English as he was working in hospitality department for many years on the American Cruise lines. Far away from homeland and family he was making a plan how to work and at the same time enjoy family life. He opened his small home stay with his lovely wife, and his example became inspiration in the village. He is very good driver, friendly, lots of fun with him. Staying at Buana Asti not only you´ll get simple cheap accommodation and real picture of Balinese life, but more- you will contribute local community empowering people by supporting their family business. I was very happy to stay and share time with them.Highly recommended.
