Great family hotel that’s comfy with excellent service

Reviewed By Lstuckmo

THE GOOD: This hotel was great for our family of four in the Executive suite. It’s two stories, 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths! The beds were really comfy and we were all glad to have a bed to stretch out in after the flight. When we pulled up from the airport (note taxi is about $30 and takes 10+ mins), I was pretty wowed as it was much nicer than I expected based on reviews. The restaurant on site is really nice French food but the front desk helped us locate pizza/hamburger joint just 100 meters up the street and open later. The location is right downtown and close to ferry as others have pointed out. I’d 100% come back and glad we did our one night here vs Hilton or Intercontinental. The front desk man was beyond amazing, really sweet and not crowded. LESS GOOD: Not much here. Based on other reviews, it is dark in the hallways but not terrible if you have your phone flashlight. As for noise, we all crashed after big mamas food and slept great. The roosters early morning are definitely chatty; it didn’t wake me or my family up (I’m a light sleeper) but now that I’m awake I hear them. Overall I highly recommend this hotel!

Fine for 1 or 2 nights when passing through

Not the place to pick if you are looking for a romantic getaway. But if you want simple clean accommodations for a couple of nights, within easy walking distance to downtown, this is a good option. Free Wifi was fine. A/C worked great. Small flat screen TV (15" maybe? See photo) All channels in French. The hotel feels "budget" (e.g. in our room the bathroom door wouldn't close). But the room and the bathroom were larger than we expected, and the bathroom appeared to have been recently upgraded. And it was uniformly clean. Seemed like a decent place for the money

Enjoyed our stay

Reviewed By Cherdon

We arrived late and we’re welcomed by Martine. After a long day of travel her offer of fresh mango and cake was appreciated. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The continental breakfast was good. The garden area was very relaxing to sit in after a full day of walking around Papeete. We enjoyed seeing the owners pets relaxing in the yard, as well. Both hosts were friendly and helpful.

Good lodge in a poor neighborhood

Reviewed By Troy_in_CA

Ahitea Lodge is a decent place to stay if you're in Papeete for a night. If you're on Tahiti for an extended stay be warned that this place is in the middle of a bad neighborhood. I stayed at Ahitea Lodge because it was low cost and had decent reviews. The lodge itself lived up to expectations. The continental breakfast was enjoyable. It was basically half of a baguette with jam and butter, coffee, and juice. The rooms were clean and had AC, and the bed was comfortable enough. Having to use a shared bathroom was only a minor inconvenience once, but otherwise not a problem. The operators unfortunately do not speak much English. There is no place to park a rental car as far as I can tell. The neighborhood sucks. I wanted to experience Tahiti without breaking the bank. I figured I could walk around the closer parts of Papeete, enjoy whatever was nearby, and pay for excursions as necessary. The walking around part was not fun. Ahitea Lodge is buried deep in a residential zone, and the nearest intersection leading out is constantly occupied by groups of tough guys who I was later informed were "just" drug dealers. I had to leave the lodge to get food, and walking through that neighborhood made me nervous, especially with all the stares I got. I was never out after dark. When it came time to checkout I got a cab, even though the dock is only 4 blocks away. If you want to stay someplace where you are free to ramble about I recommend staying someplace else.

the most unsanitary and dangerous hotel I have ever stayed at

Reviewed By treasurepv

There is so much I could say, but my experience there was so horrible that if I go into great detail, you will think I am a crazy person. All I can say is: avoid at all costs. To say it is unsanitary is the understatement of the century. I am attaching a photo of how black my white socks became on the bottom after one day. And a photo of the one stained sheet they used on my bed. There are two more things I want to mention: 1) no one at reception speaks a word of english. Not one word. And if you try to speak to them in english they get hostile and angry and yell at you. I spoke enough french to almost communicate, but other Americans I met there were literally scared of the reception staff, who seemed as if they actively disliked foreigners. Although this was during a major covid shut down, the entire restaurant staff (if you can call what they serve "food") did not wear masks, although that is legally required. We could not wait to get out of there. Avoid like the plague.

Perfect Tahiti-Iti waterfront hideaway

Reviewed By vintagemaven

If you've ever flown into Tahiti and then driven through Papeete you know that you may be disappointed by the lack of scenery. But if you continue your drive to the very southern part of the island to the peninsula of Tahiti-Iti you will find the true meaning of French Polynesia. This little gem is very much off off-the-beaten-track but a perfect place to spend a few days. You can explore the entire Peninsula from this base. If you can, book yourself into one of the waterfront bungalows that has the perfect deck overlooking the ocean, a very comfortable bed with a mosquito net and doors that open all the way to give you a complete open front on to the ocean. There's no restaurant here but there is a community kitchen that you can put your supplies into in order to make yourself your own coffee tea or whatever you want for breakfast. Each room also has a small refrigerator and a kettle.

She informed me that she will cancel my booking, and I will receive no show information, so whe will save on booking fees paid to booking.com I understand if she gives me discount but nothing. I even lost my points because of that.
