Heaven isn’t too far away from Obergurgl. Maybe because, at 6000 feet elevation, it’s the highest church parish in Austria. Or maybe it’s just the skiing. Take a guided tour with an expert mountaineer, explore the wintery dreamscape off-piste or get exclusive “early bird” slope access that ends with oysters and champagne. Or ditch the skis and go for a winter hike or thrilling toboggan ride. Ski huts and rest stops range from rustic to futuristic, all with panoramic views.

Lohmann is a very convenient rabbit warren of a hotel. Super close to the ski school meeting area. Staff are lovely, nice bar area, great food and an indoor slide and play area for the children. I mention that its a bit of a rabbit warren because there are corridors and stairs all over the place and it takes a little while to find your way around. Not a problem I should add but it is a feature. Rooms are fine and the staff superb. Super accommodating for any requests. All in all a great stay

I’m not sure of the low ratings given by some but our experience at the Laurin was excellent! This is worthy of more than the 3* rating by far. We were 2 adults + 10yr child all in one room. Stayed there 02/09April 2022 via CrystalSki and we were warmly greeted by the Lady of the House - Sandra - the room(Superior with balcony) and hotel is very clean and tidy with excellent views looking down the valley toward Obergurgl. The elevation of the hotel is 2000+ metres so almost guaranteed of snowy Christmassy views. The meals were very good - choice at breakfast was good but perhaps a bit repetitive but what else do you expect for breakfast - a good selection of cold meats, cheese, fruit, bacon, eggs, cereals, yoghurts, pastries and bread. The evening meal was really astounding with five courses every evening, the first being a salad buffet, followed by a further starter, then a soup, main course, and finished off with a dessert. I’m a big eater and dinner was enough for me! For R&R off the slopes, the Laurin has a gym and a petite but beautiful pool area with floor-ceiling windows and views down the Obergurgl valley! There’s a sauna and yoga area too. In the main part of the hotel, there is a central bar, well attended, and a lounge area that has smaller divided areas for chilling and a bit of privacy and never felt crowded. Again, here, the lounge areas all have floor-ceiling window views down the valley. We really loved the South-South West aspect as it gave lots of sun into the lounge whilst you’re sipping your drinks on a lounger or rocking chair. Bedrooms were very clean, modern, and very warm, and no complaints. Hot water always available during waking hours. Access to the main GrosseKarbahn chair lift is about an easy 8-10mins walk though it does include a flight of stairs to the upper level. Not found that an issue. On your way to the lifts, there are two ski shops where you can hire your equipment - we went with Scheiber Sports S6 which en route and they have ski depots(ski and boot storage) facilities there which is super handy and means you are not walking in your Frankenstein boots in and out of the hotel, trainers will do. Sander and Gregory at Scheiber were super helpful and nice to deal with. Once we had put on our warm and dry boots, it was a 30sec stroll to the chairlift. Super convenient! On return to the same spot, there is an outdoor rotunda belonging to the Top Hotel where you can a beer or something stronger! All in all, loved the location of the Alpenhotel Laurin and great value for money. Owing to our early departure at 6am on 09Apr, Sandra, the Lady of the House, made us a packed breakfast and some juices to take the night before - very sweet and kind of her! The Laurin is highly recommended!

This is what the cordiality of the host family Falkner with their "bergweltteam" stands for.
Family run hotel that has grown along the hillside over the years with the restaurant and bar at the heart of the hotel and a small sun terrace. The slopes are a five minute walk away or the hotel taxi that operates twice a day that stops in the village by the spa shop and hohemut gondola. . Hotel boasts a lovely spa with indoor /outdoor pool and saunas etc. Food is excellent with themed evenings that will challenge your waistline, also a great wine list and great staff . We would not hesitate to recommend and look forward to anther visit .

So glad we chose the Alpina for our first family ski holiday. We could not fault the hotel. Brilliant location, not far from ski school which both our boys loved (age 4 & 7.) Food was amazing, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were more than happy to make alternative food for fussy eaters. Spa area was lovely after a day on the slopes. Our boys loved the kids club in the evening and asked to go most nights, meaning the adults could enjoy their meal in peace. Clean, spacious and modern rooms. We were sad for this fabulous trip to come to an end.

We stayed here for a skiing holiday. The hotel is on the edge of Obergurgl, so not great for apres-ski, but the centre is only a few minutes walk. The hotel is positioned right by a gondola, so practically ski in, ski out. As the gondola is out of the centre, that mean hardly any queues, so easy to get up the mountain. The boot room and ski storage is spacious, well-organised, and heated. The split- level room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with plenty of storage, and a balcony. A Nespresso coffee machine was provided with capsules, but no milk. It was impossible to get plain white coffee in the hotel(except at breakfast when it was self-service) without having to ask for milk at least twice. Small criticism, but it was irritating. Dressing gowns and slippers are provided. The staff are fantastic, without exception. Friendly, professional and very good at their jobs. The food is amazing. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want, with omelettes cooked freshly to order. Dinner was 5-8 courses, beautifully presented and with quantities calculated to leave you full but not uncomfortable. You could eat multiple desserts and however much cheese you wanted. All excellent quality. There is a good spa included, with indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and steam rooms-some for family use and others adults only. I would happily stay here again.

Ski hideaway in the Oetztal Alps The highest hotel in the Alps A world for you alone: the ski and wellness hotel Riml in Tyrol prides itself on its unique location. Built at an altitude of 2200m, the hotel is surrounded by 21 snow-covered 3000m-tall mountains – an unparalleled location for your next holiday in the Alps. Take your holiday in Tyrol to new heights at the Hotel Riml! Peace and quiet; mountain tops covered in sparkling white snow; and a touch of luxury in the fresh mountain air. It's no wonder that Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is known as the diamond of the Alps. Only five hotels call this impressive atmosphere in Hochgurgl home. The highest of these is the Hotel Riml.
This hotel is in a wonderful ski in ski out location in beautiful Hochgurgl. The swimming pools inside and out are fabulously appointed with gorgeous views and even the sauna has a view of the snow! The problems really start when it comes to eating and the Bar area. Firstly for any kind of romantic break the restaurant resembles more a canteen than a romantic mountain setting. It is very large. It lacks any atmosphere or indeed the attitude from the management that we will do our best for you. I hasten to add that the waiters and waitresses were charming but being led by an inflexible impolite restaurant manager. The view from the restaurant is superb - having said that the rigid seating policy meant that we were obliged to sit at the same table for every breakfast and supper. Despite the fact that at least one table was free by the window we were not allowed to sit in it. There was no please do sit at a table of your choice, even at breakfast, and no opportunity to reserve a better situated table for our whole stay. The hours were also very rigid. Breakfast 8-10. We were finishing our coffee on the second day around 10:20 when the manager rudely came up (he is easily recognised as dressed in Austrian traditional uniform and very angry looking) and said words to the effect that we obviously hadn’t changed our watches to local time. In case we didn’t get the point we were informed breakfast ‘ends’ at 10 and we had to leave. A gentler polite suggestion to finish coffee in the Bar area would have made the world of difference to us. We left, a mature couple, feeling ticked off not to mention a little upset. Our neighbours, for all meals, had two sweet very young children. He told us that when he asked about checking out that he would not be allowed a little leeway - 10 it was and no budging despite having young children to organise. This could not be more different to the TopHotel next door where we went afterwards for a further 8 wonderful days. They were flexible and warm about everything from meal times, to tables, with a longer breakfast time and checkout I think at 12 noon. The next thing which was strange was the speed of service of the four courses (or so) dinner. No sooner had you sat down the courses arrived at breakneck speed. It was like a race to get the diners in and out. Not a relaxed experience but rather more like a fast food one. As for the Bar, for a hotel which accommodates a large number of people, the Bar sat around 20. There was an additional lacking in atmosphere or views sitting area with a handful of chairs with little tables - think airport lounge. This meant that having a pre-dinner drink was tricky if you wanted to sit down which after skiing tends to be the case. Thankfully the guests were very accommodating in helping each other out. Room service was also rather hit and miss. As there was no kettle we ordered breakfast tea in the morning. The water arrived, more often than not, in a pre-used coffee pot, adding more than a hint of stale coffee flavour to tea. Not to be recommended. All in all Hochgurgl is a wonderful place to ski and with a few subtle changes this would be a great hotel to stay in. We would mostly like to thank the ordinary staff who were all very charming.

To make the hotel even more energy efficient, we will be installing new insulation and energy-saving roof elements.
Stayed here with a friend for a week's skiing. The hotel is very well appointed and in a perfect location for ski-in-out. I didn't have time to visit the spa area but heard very good reports from fellow guests. The staff are very helpful and the restaurant served very good breakfast and dinner. The ski room is the best I've ever used - plenty of space and very smart. My only quibble is that my single room was a bit small & dull, particularly for the premium paid through my tour operator. After this comment to the hotel they suggested it may be better to request single occupancy of a double room - but that wasn't offered by the tour operator.
