Eko Hotel is now a shadow of its former self, if it has any good history in the past. 1. The activated door entrance card don't open the door. 2. You call for assistance, no motivated staff to meet your needs. 3. Den someone appears with a manual key and unapologetically tell you dat the problem had been there and mgt refused to listen. 4. The staff even advise you to escalate on social media as they too are fed up. 5. The hotel charges a lot per room per night but no value for money. 6. Buyers beware

The Hotel is strategically located in the heart of Ikeja, the capital of Nigeria's commercial city - Lagos. It is 10 minutes drive to the Lagos Domestic and International Airports and set amidst a busy neighborhood featuring shops, restaurants and bars.
I booked here to stay for 5 nights on a business trip. When I arrived to check in they couldn't take payment from my credit card. They tried 2 USD POS machines and 2 Naira ones but all of them declined my card even though my bank told me that no request had been made. I was very close to having to leave the hotel to find somewhere else which is not great late at night just arriving in the country. The lady checking me in - Elizabeth - was very courteous and polite throughout and eventually agreed to let me check in anyway with a view to trying the card again in the morning. Very kind of her really. The same card worked first time the next morning - obviously a problem with the hotel POS which just isn't acceptable with this standard of hotel. The rooms and food in the hotel are of a very high standard. I ate at the Asian Restaurant and although the food was very good the service was strange and the waiting staff didn't have great English. Lots of confusion when taking my order and bringing my food. Considering the alternatives on the mainland (Sheraton is very old and dilapidated, Radisson has very limited food options) I'll probably stay here again but hopefully with fewer problems at Check-In

This hotel has deteriorated since my husband and I stayed there ten years ago. During this stay we ended up changing rooms three times. First, we were allegedly upgraded to a suite based on my husband’s status in the Marriott Rewards program. When we arrived at our room, it was certainly not a suite. We called down and were told they did not have any available suites but persuaded to stay in the “nice” room we were given. We agreed. Within the first day, the ceiling developed a leak, which was attributed to a faulty air conditioning duct system. Their maintenance crew could not fix it so we were moved to a second room. The minute we walked into the second room we knew we couldn’t stay there - the air smelled horribly musty and the dead bolt on the door was broken. We were then moved to a third room, which seemed to be an improvement. The air smelled better. The bathroom was not great - there was mildew all over the tile and the bathtub was stained and dirty-looking and didn’t drain well. We asked housekeeping to come by with bleach and scrub it. The pictures I posted are the “after” pictures. Also, by the next day, the room had developed two leaks, and was dripping water from the ceiling! We called maintenance who gave the same lame explanation about air conditioning - they claimed they’d fixed it but when we woke up the next day, one of the leaks was back. We had to keep a towel on the floor to soak up the water. Also, the air quality changed and the room also began smelling musty and mildewy toward the end of our stay. We were never given washcloths and had to ask repeatedly - it actually became a joke because we would wait to see whether housekeeping would leave us any washcloths each day. It never happened despite us leaving nice tips each morning. We called a few times and, once, someone came up with one washcloth. One washcloth! We ended up buying bath sponges from a nearby store. You can tell that the company managing this hotel doesn’t care about maintenance - which is a larger symptom of the state of affairs in Nigeria. It is disappointing that a Marriott-branded property is this horrible - we felt as though we were staying at a motel. The only good thing about the hotel was the food.

I stayed here as a last resort as the hotel I was stay was fully booked. The service was professional. Neat rooms and the staff were polite. Onome and the others made my two day stay comfortable. The food was tasty. However their complimentary breakfast was non existent. They need to work on it. To call the spread they had as spartan would not be an understatement. It was that insignificant! I stayed in the suite and the bathroom was top notch. One of the best I have used.It had a steam bath. I will give them an A+ for the bathroom. Will be returning

My overall impression about the hotel is beyond average and I would love to come back. Please add pap and akara to your breakfast menu. It should also be noted that the towels supplied to my room 337 were old. I complained and new ones were supplied as replacements.

I have returned to this hotel since 2006. Its a beautiful place and most importantly the team or people who have continued to make my stay memorable. Ekene at the concierge is a dream, very polite, welcoming and helpful. Mathew and Andrew at the check in desk makes our check-in smooth and easy. Peace at the pool wearing a huge smile, polite and playful. Bukola knows everyone at breakfast. She is very friendly, knows her returning guests and still extends the same courtesy to new guests. The cleaners do an amazing job with cleaning the rooms. Flower pots well tendered to. You have the best team and a lot of them have been working here for years, tells a lot about the management. A good job and the best hotel in Lagos. Don't stay anywhere else.
