Our room was a bit of a shock. Very small disabled room. In that you could walk into the shower. The bed was against one wall so inconvenient for a couple. No toiletries as promised. No glasses. Cobwebs in the corners of the room. It appeared the room hadnt been used for a while. The chain lock was broken. A lot of miners stay at the hotel. They did allow us to have the miners' meal. At $300 per night we would never stay there again

Located right in the center of town, close to all amenities. The airport is located 12 km from town. Taxis are limited in Newman, and we are able to assist you in making a booking for you. Karijini National Park is a 2 hour drive from Newman, perfect for a day trip or to stay the night on your journey through Western Australia.
After travelling from Karratha, this was my overnight stop. Located pretty much in the centre of town. Reception staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. It's almost like a motel style of accommodation. Old fashioned key entry door. Venetians on the window. Bonus points for having wine glasses in the fridge. Bed seems comfy, air con works. TV is good. I guess the only thing I can say is that it is very dated and does require a makeover but it's what you expect in the middle of nowhere. It has all the amenities required for the night and the room is very clean.

Being a vegan working FIFO you get used to there not being a lot of food choices, so very used to living in veg and salad. I had given up asking and just except - after all it is my choice. After I unintentionally mentioned to the chef I was vegan he has gone out of his way to find me something new and a bit more exciting. I really appreciate it. ?

We’ve just celebrated Father’s Day with an amazing experience at the Newman Hotel. From the moment we stepped into the Garden Restaurant earlier today, wondering if we would dine there, we were met by the supervisor who was friendly and assuring without being at all pushy. The supervisor’s approach has filtered through to all of the staff and the chefs backed up the ‘front of house’ experience with exceptional food. What a great night out! We could have been anywhere in the world!

After looking at 5 rooms for one that was fit to sleep in, I discovered there was no shower rose, just a hole in the wall. The rooms are $150 a night, should be $50 at most. The meals were rubbish , I had a Steak salad and chips $42 another rip off rate it at 3 stars. I will never stay nor recommend staying at the Red Sands Tavern Newman.
