We stayed 2 nights at the lovely guesthouse Skorrahestar. Thea and Doddi were so kind with us. Thea shared her knowledge of the local area and more distant places, of Iceland and also her own stories. We really felt like at home and as we were friends. Thank you so very much for the very warm welcome and your kindness.

Hildibrand Hotel is apartment hotel in the center of Neskaupstadur, a charming fishing village in East Iceland. The hotel offers apartments and suites, a restaurant, bar, conference rooms, event spaces, activities coordination, shuttle service and more. We also have a pier restaurant just a few meters away, The Bait Shack.
The hotel is well located right across the street from the harbor with all rooms having harbor views and some having generously sized balconies. Room 303 was a studio apartment with a full kitchen, living area, bedroom, bathroom, and a large balcony good for watching both the sunrise and sunset. Dinner at the hotel was perfectly fine. Breakfast on the other hand was the worst I've had in 20 hotels in Iceland. It was in a box in the room's refrigerator - but the contents including a boiled egg looked like they were a couple of days old. The refrigerator was also too cold so the veggies were frozen and the cheese was quite hard. As business picks up post Covid, hopefully the hotel will re-open its fresh breakfast buffet in the restaurant but until then, be wary of what breakfast you'll get. Overall despite the mediocre breakfast, I would stay here again because it's comfortable, well located, and has great views.

Best of all, Hotel Capitano makes it easy to experience some great Neskaupstadur attractions like Vitapollurinn, which is a popular lighthouse. Hotel Capitano puts the best of Neskaupstadur at your fingertips, making your stay both relaxing and enjoyable.
We arrived in the midst of the heavy metal festival. Kata the friendly manager had worried that it would be noisy however it wasn't and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Interesting history to this hotel which has been renovated internally and external renovations are being completed. We could park the hire car at the rear of the hotel. Room was comfortable and clean with bathroom. Breakfast was good and all the staff we met were very friendly and interesting to speak to.

We were there as a group of 4 friends. Location is more than amazing. There are two little wooden houses, each one fully equipped, they have even BBQ outside the house! And big terrace with the perfect view on Mjóifjörður. The owner - nice lady living near the houses. The place is so remote that you can think of it almost as your own. I would like to come back there someday. You're just gonna need good car, SUV or something, because there is only gravel road - like 30km from ring road.

Luckily having seen prior reviews we did not expect much and thus could not get disappointed. The Location is actually quite nice with views over the water and from the outside the hotel looks at least as Good as other hotels in town. Inside the best thing I could say, it was reasonably clean, otherwise a hostel feel with old cheap furniture, no class, no style and a mini bathroom. There was no receptionist when we arrived (just after 8pm), but there were envelopes for all guests at the door with the room key. Summing up, if you just expect a clean bed and no charm, then this is acceptable and more comfortable than a tent.

When we arrived at Siggi Nobb Guesthouse we had to call the owner to retrieve the key from him at a different hotel 200m away from there. Once we unlocked the guesthouse and got inside, we went to check out our room. There were no towels for drying hands or showering. Luckily, we had brought our own quick drying towels and proceeded to have a shower. The shower itself was one panel with no base, only a slight incline in the floor with a drain at the bottom of the incline against the wall. After not even one minute of showering we noticed water pooling up and starting to flood the bathroom. Immediately, we had to use the water squeegee to prevent any water from going too far. The owner also had open food and mouldy oranges out in the common area. It was messy and there boxes piled high a in a bin. The next morning, we called the owner to check out as he was not at the Guesthouse or at the other hotel 200m away. He did not answer. We were forced to leave the guesthouse unlocked with the jets inside the lock of our room. He also failed to tell us that there would be no breakfast the next morning even though there was a sign posted saying that there would be. The lack of safety, cleanliness, and hospitality made for an uncomfortable stay.
