One of the great Castle Mansion Houses of Scotland, Carberry Tower is a multi-award winning, luxury 4 star Castle hotel with an award-winning Bistro, situated just outside Edinburgh in beautiful East Lothian countryside. Standing regally in 40 acres of stunning, private Estate parkland and widely recognised as Edinburgh's 'Castle in the country,' Carberry Tower is a place of intimate grandeur and to arrive here, is to weave your own story into a history that goes back to 1480 when our first foundation stone was laid. Since then, we have been a gathering place for Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses and over the centuries, the great and the good have all come to warm themselves by our fires and feast from our banqueting tables. And with 30 en-suite bedrooms, ranging from elegant classic rooms to larger family rooms, well equipped executive rooms and luxurious Suites, we are able to accommodate up to 70 household guests in comfort and style.
Absolutely wonderful experience! Staff was lovely and very helpful (Lynne, Douglas, Chantelle, restaurant and breakfast staff). We stayed in the Princess Margaret room. It had two kings beds, a sitting area and dining area. We loved our room as it was spacious and stayed true to the charm of the property. We loved exploring all the common areas of the property - library, sitting rooms, bar, etc. Everywhere we went it seemed to have another cute sitting area to relax. We booked two nights for the end of our trip here and it was a relaxing after a very busy itinerary. The restaurant was delicious and had a good variety to choose from. The breakfast was a buffet breakfast and the staff was willing to accommodate requests. I would definitely stay here again. I only wish we had more time to explore the grounds.

Ravelston House is an excellent choice for travelers visiting Musselburgh, offering a charming environment alongside many helpful amenities designed to enhance your stay. Given the close proximity to St Michael's Parish Church (0.7 mi), guests of Ravelston House can easily experience one of Musselburgh's most popular landmarks. Guests have access to newspaper and baggage storage while staying at Ravelston House. In addition, Ravelston House offers free breakfast, which will help make your Musselburgh trip additionally gratifying. And, as an added convenience, there is free parking available to guests. While staying in Musselburgh, you can check out a popular Mediterranean restaurant like Dal Patino, which is serving up some great dishes. Should time allow, Newhailes and Fisherrow Harbour are some popular attractions that are within walking distance. Enjoy your stay in Musselburgh!
Been coming here for years, and so I thought it would be a good idea to bring friends here for lunch. Unfortunately the place seems to have gone badly downhill since my last visit. Very disappointing service, from a very unfriendly waitress. I’m afraid I won’t be back for a long time. Food was OK, otherwise it this would be a one star review, purely because of the miserable service.

Arden House is a lovely old Victorian home overlooking Musselburgh Old Links Golf Course and Musselburgh Racecourse. It is only a 10 min stroll from the town centre where there is a varied selection of places to eat. Both Princes St in central Edinburgh and North Berwick in East Lothian are a 35 min bus journey from outside the door of the house. It is 12 minutes by train into Waverley from Wallyford Rail Station which is less than 5 minutes drive and has plenty free parking. All the bedrooms are comfortably furnished and several have views over the golf course. There are twin, double and family rooms with en-suite or private shower rooms. For larger family or friend groups, there is an extra bedroom with 3 single beds which can be booked alongside both the Family Room for 3 or the one for 4, sharing a shower room. A varied continental breakfast is included in the price.
This is our second visit to this bed and breakfast, first a few years ago and again last week on way from dufftown to Northumberland. Seriously recommend this place , very clean , fantastic breakfast, the family room is amazing. Alice is a great host very friendly and helpfull. Our son Zac loves the resident dog scout. Will def return in future

Mackenzie bunks & more.. provides a unique holiday beach house and only a 20 minute bus ride into the centre of Edinburgh. Large parties of up to 16 can make use of the full house with a large lounge and kitchen. But of course, one of the 4 rooms can be booked separately, which are; The master bothy with two bunk beds and a private shower, this room has a fantastic sea view. The twin bothy, very cosy and with the sea view, this room has access to the bathroom next door with a bath and shower. Then there is the Garden bothy, private ensuite and has 2 rooms with a bunk bed in each room and with a big TV and access into the back garden which is a sun trap !, yes even in Scotland.. with BBQ, and fridge for the beveridges, and seating area with chiminea makes for a lovely evening after a day in the city. Then we have the kings size beach bot,hy, ensuite, dinning table fridge and good broadband available with netflix, so just chill in bed and watch something like breaking bad. You can also go onto the beach and have a beach fire and in the morning you can walk along the beach to the harbour with your cuppa, or pick up a bacon roll at the cafes at the harbour. There is also a tidy beach play area for our younger guests. The owner Alastair can provide transport if you require a wee tour. This holiday will be a truely memorable scottish experience. Aye !!
What a little treat... in a great location right on the beach. Alistair was really friendly and mentioned a wonderful pub in town (Volunteer Arms) which we spent a few happy, friendly hours in. The room was comfortable and excellent value - only minor issue was the fridge decided to have a moment about 4am which meant I had to get up and switch it off and on again in order to stop the noise... otherwise there is a kettle, toaster and some cutlery. The village is surprisingly dog "unfriendly" we thought the Ship was but on arrival it seems not. So we got take out fish and chips to bring back which were expensive but gorgeous. All in all would definately stay here again on our way up north
