Quietly nested on the rolling slopes of the gentle Umbrian hills, Gattogiallo offers a fashinating view of the nearby Medioeval villages. At ten minutes' drive from the motorway (A1 fabro Exit) it is ideally situated for eploring the small towns as well as the major centres of an area where everything seems to be steeped in history. A former farm-house, Gattogiallo is characterized by the friendly ambience of a traditional homestead and it also offers all the modern comforts which can make your stay enjoyable, as well as the traditional savour of a particularly accurate cuisine. A large swimming pool (14x6 mt)is exclusively available for the guests of Agriturismo Gattogiallo.
We stayed at this agroturismo for 2 weeks at the end of July with two teenagers (19 and 15). We had the two connecting apartments (green and blue) which gave us plenty of space and privacy for the teenagers. The (hidden) kitchen unit in one of the apartments was sufficient to prepare lunch, but it would probably be a bit of a challenge to cook a full meal. The private bit of garden with sunbeds and shade canopy was lovely to relax and just a quick walk to the swimming pool (with sunbeds and chairs) which was never busy - you can swim anytime you want, it never closes. Breakfast is included and always included a freshly baked croissant, fresh fruit juice, biscuits/toast, yoghurt and fruit and Guisy serves your choice of hot drinks. It was served between 8.30-9am, which was early for the teenagers, but it meant that we had a full day to explore the many villages, towns and countryside. We also had many delicious meals in the restaurant - they serve a 4-course set meal, with the option of an alternative if you do not like the sound of a particular course, which is great for kids or teenagers. The kids loved the simple pasta pomodoro. Renato is an amazing cook, taking obvious pride and great care in the preparation of classic and regional Italian dishes, all home-made and served with their own Pinot Nero red wine if you prefer. Guisy is the perfect host, making sure everything is in order. We had a fanstastic stay with Renato and Guisy, who made us feel very much at home. We will definitely recommend this place to family and friends who are looking for a relaxing play to stay.

I just returned from 10 days at Il Colombaio. I am homesick! I miss my beautiful room and the friendly atmosphere. It is the perfect spot to base yourself for visiting southern Tuscany and Umbria. Many agriturismos are owned by non-Italians, they are nice, but this is the real deal. A local family that knows their business and their how to treat guests. Spotless, great food, scenic walking trails, cute animals, I can't wait to go back!

We were expecting a secluded farm stay, with warm Italian hospitality that we have always received in this wonderful country. There was a shop and restaurant with cooking lessons advertised, so this met all of our needs. The reality couldn’t have been more different. From the minute we arrived, everything we asked for was too much trouble and we felt like a burden. There was a problem with the car hire and after finally arriving by taxi, the host asked “well what are you going to do about dinner” we said we would eat at the restaurant and we’re told it was closed, something we were not told in advance. This was always made even stranger by the arrival of 2 new guests who told us they had cooking lessons booked and that they had a wonderful meal cooked for them in the restaurant .....!!! There is a long list of things wrong with place but I will summarise: - no fridge in room and no option to use the hosts fridge (apparently they sell drinks but only told us this as we were leaving, after telling us the shop is closed??). There is nothing close by - Sun beds very uncomfortable and just old and worn foam toppers without any coverings. - No shade at pool area - Property covered in dog poo including communal and pool areas, - No drinks offered from breakfast onwards in a secluded location. Not even a water cooler in a communal area. - One of the hosts totally ignored us throughout our stay and made us feel very uncomfortable, a very strange experience. - Shower is poor, really bad water pressure, it completely went off one day mid hair wash. I tried to find the host and when I did she was very annoyed that I had interrupted her cooking and just shouted that she already knew it was off - After receiving a negative review from my husband the host decided to try and charge us extra after leaving for towel use (that she asked us if we wanted) and laundry charge (we asked to use the washing machine which she said yes to and we did our own hanging out and collecting back in etc). Luckily the card failed and when we questioned this she said she wouldn’t normally charge for these but as we obviously didn’t like her hospitality she would make an example of us. - She also said we tried to leave without paying which is very odd as we told her we were leaving early the next day and after 4 trips back and forth to the car with luggage that morning, I don’t think there was any way we could have been “sneaking” off! - She also said we left without leaving valid card details being provided but this was all done with booking.com as per all of our other booking without issue. I think she was just frustrated her extra charges plan backfired (NOTE: all of the leaving without paying lies, no valid card etc were brought up after we gave negative feedback, we paid with no problems at the property) - The host also claims that we requested a refund for a taxi we privately arranged to get to the property. Completely baffled by this as no such conversation or anything close ever took place. - It appears this host turns to inventing the truth to cover up the negative reviews she receives on her poor and sometimes non existent service. Don’t waste your money staying here, read some of the other poor reviews and the hosts replies and you will see a theme - they do not like to receive constructive feedback and respond in a sarcastic manner. You are playing roulette with your money and holiday time, if she doesn’t like your face then you can expect the bare minimum and a sarcastic attitude.
