The Shangri-La Country Hotel & Spa outside Bela Bela is a tranquil secluded hideaway nestled against the Waterberg Mountains. This peaceful gem just one hour north of Gauteng, offers the elegance of yesteryear, with beautiful antiques, homely pampering in 49 en-suite rooms surrounded by lush tropical gardens. What a joke! The worst hotel experience in my life. Unfriendly reception. Unacceptable rooms: smelly, leaking walls !?, stains on carpets and upholstery, plastic spoons for coffee, stinky pillows, no towels in bathroom. Didn’t stay for breakfast… couldn’t bear another minute.

Started our trip in South Africa here. What a beautiful place. Right away you feel very welcomed by all the staff members. The food was delicious, and the views were amazing. We went on bush walks and saw giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and much more. Would love to come back one day!

We were 2 couples who visited Zwahili from 19 to 21 March 2022. Charity and her staff spoiled us so much so that they arranged for a private dinner at the boma as a surprise. Piet at the restaurant always ensured that we had something cold to drink and Janke shared her vast knowledge of nature during the game drives. What an unforgettable stay! Well done!

Escape to the gorgeous Gecko Guesthouse in the heart of the malaria-free Waterberg Bushveld. Be our guests in this tranquil world of luxury and comfort just 90 minutes from Gauteng. Here, at last, you can forget the hustle and bustle of city life. The unique and extraordinary finishes provide a feeling of exclusivity, while the manicured garden allows you to relax with a book in secluded corners. You can sun yourself next to the splash pool or surrender to bubbles in the spa bath.
The service was great but can always be improved, it’s rude to remind your guests of the check out time over & over again. It almost felt as if we were not welcome to stay. That’s minimum things that can be improved

Abba Game Lodge is situated in the Waterberg Mountains, some 17 km north of Modimolle (Nylstroom) offering self catering accommodation in beautifully appointed thatched chalets as well as caravan and camping sites. Abba Game Lodge is a long established lodge, with beautiful surroundings and superior facilities, which includes a lovely dam adding to the tranquillity of the area, or try your skills at some amazing fishing. The 15km gravel road will make you hold your breath but the minute you get into the warm pools of ABBA Lodge, you realise that you are in the wilderness, with Bucks running wild next to you as you walk to your chalet. A true unique African experience

The dirt road was sturdy and moving in and out of the property was effortless. The view over the deck was incredible and there was a cute cat to keep us company. We would advise coffee condiments to be available since some guests may only use the accommodation for a night. Eitherway, thanks for the lovely stay.

Bateleur caters for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts like hikers, mountain bikers, stargazers, birders, butterfly and tree lovers and those who seek refuge from city life in the seclusion and tranquillity of the Waterberg. Our houses are fully equipped with linen (NO towels) crockery, cutlery and kitchen appliances. We have 10 different Hiking trails and also trails for Mountian Bike enthusiasts
Went to cycle and hike. Were told house next to "farm" pool - IT WAS EMPTY. Kitchen stocked with lot of unneeded items but NO TOASTER - THE OVEN was not working (apparently) never did. House did not lock? 4 ladies alone! Otherwise very quiet and pleasant NO CYCLING ROUTE.. HIking badly marked. Wouter and absolute GEM but never told us about actual swimming pool and we did ask.

One is always sceptical about pictures on a website and what you actually get. That was not a problem here, from the amazing communication from Laurene to arriving at one of the most picturesque places, beautiful lawns, beautifully decorated, to rooms that were absolutely perfect. When they say crisp white linen, that’s exactly what you get. A kitchen well stocked with every utensil, pot etc one would need. Braai areas are immaculate. All kinds of bird life and tranquility. One immediately relaxes. Would recommend them any time and we will certainly be back.
