Kono Kono Beach Resort is located on the south eastern coast of Zanzibar; these 21 luxurious villas are only an hour's drive away from the Zanzibar International Airport. The breathtaking beauty of this side of the Island offers arguably the best beaches in Zanzibar. The property covers 48000m² and more than 40% is under the resort’s conservation program and has the rarest fauna and flora including wildlife such as monkeys, local deer and endemic bird species
- Luxury Over Water Villas are amazing - The design of the resort combines natural beauty with elegance. - The sea is not the best to swim compared to other places in Zanzibar like Nungwi. - We had a romantic dinner. The setup was wonderful. - Food (A la Carte ) was great

Set on the banks of the shores of Michamvi Peninsula, overlooking the glistening blue waters, Le Mersenne Beach Resort Zanzibar is a true haven of luxury and relaxation. This lavish resort is home to an extensive range of rooms and suites designed to ensure a comfortable stay with elegant interiors and modern amenities. Guests can look forward to enjoying delicious meals at the restaurant, relaxing with a refreshing drink at the bar, and soaking up the sun while lounging around the swimming pool during their stay.
We had our wedding at Le Mersenne and it was honestly a wedding for the books. The team at Le Mersenne were super accommodating. We had 95 guests checking in, and so they had a process set in place to ensure everyone had a smooth check in and check out, and also had people available to attend to guests requests throughout their stay. We basically had the entire hotel for ourselves, and it couldn't have been any better than what it was. The food was delicious, the cocktails were great, the room service was available when we needed it (after midnight). Overall the resort is beautiful, and not one to be missed:

Pearl Beach Resort and Spa (formally Michamvi Beach Resort) is a sprawling boutique resort with 37 bungalows divided into garden, ocean and beach views. The road leading up to the hotel is not well paved which is common in Zanzibar due to the red tape in paving it. There is a spa which isn't very luxurious, an open air gym, and 2 pools- a smaller one located in the lobby and the main one. The resort is also connected to 2 beaches- one small one next to the pool and another bigger one which is a 3 minute walk from the reception area. Baboa Beach, the bigger one has many lounge chairs and a bar. Like many beaches in Zanzibar, you can only swim in them during high tide which is late afternoon to early evening. The open air lobby is good size and has a pool connected ( great for pictures but not swimming). Check in was very personable as they did it whilst you were sitting in the lobby sipping on your welcome drink. There is a tour representative to book any tours that you need. The lobby is the only area where there is free Wi-Fi ( not available in your bungalow) My ocean view balcony bungalow was spacious but simple. They still use a key for the room and the safe deposit box . There is no TV in the room. The bathroom is big with a shower (you need to switch on the hot water first). The bed was extremely comfortable. There wasn't a master power switch nor any outlets to charge your devices near the bed. A 1,5 L bottle of water is provided/day which can be kept in the refrigerator. The sprawling grounds are kept up well and are full of flowers and trees. Since there are only 37 bungalows- it is never crowded. The yoga center which overlooks the water is such a tranquil place for meditation. The pool also has a great view of the ocean and serves coconut juice. During the day there are many activities like water aerobics. The daily activity schedule is posted on the lobby bulletin board along with the nightly themed dinners ( White Dinner, Cultural Show on the beach) There is one restaurant which is in the lobby. Most of the guests are on full board and the meals are buffet ( $20 for dinner if you aren't on full board) but there is a limited a la carte menu. Besides this, your options are limited. I had the dinner buffet and the quality was at best mediocre. The best was the made to order pasta. The limited overpriced a la carte menu wasn't very good either. The breakfast buffet was the same- mediocre quality. There were made to order eggs but I waited over 30 minutes for mine. The other options is to take a taxi (USD 10-one way) to The Rock , Kae Beach or their sister hotel Kae Beach Resort. Kae Beach Resort has delicious food at a reasonable price. It was one of the best meals I had and I would definitely recommend it. Their is also a restaurant on Kae Beach- around a 10 minute beach walk from the hotel. This place is hopping at sunset with an acrobatic show and live music with dancing after sunset, Zanzibar pizza is available here after sunset. All in all, I enjoyed myself. The food was the most disappointing part. If they improve the quality and selection of the food and have internet available in the bungalows, then it would be a perfect place to relax in a beautiful setting.

I recently spent 5 nights here with my family. We loved it! It’s a lovely spot on the beach. small and quiet with a pool. I can’t say enough about the food- it was delicious with 2 or three options for dinner, including vegetarian. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While there we took a sunset cruise on a traditional boat, went snorkeling, scuba diving, walked to mangroves. We were also very happy just hanging out there. It was a very comfortable and happy place to be.

Qambani is set on the tip of a secluded peninsula, with a seasonal beach, on Zanzibar’s eastern shores. For a tropical island, Zanzibar is very accessible, and from Europe, you wont have to deal with jet-lag, as there’s only 2/3 hours time difference . A direct eight-hour night flight delivers you direct from Europe to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Then there’s a 15-minute flight to Zanzibar. From the airport, the drive to Qambani is an hour and a half, across the island. Qambani’s generous proportions provide seven bedroom villas, living spaces, two pools and lush tropical garden, a promise of complete relaxation and indulgence. A fusion of ancient Swahili crafts – perfected in the palaces of the sultans along the East African shores – and modern coastal design, it gives shady sanctuary, while turning the inside out, so every space takes great gulps of the sea and the balmy tropical air.
A wonderful secluded hotel that used to be a home to a rich European family, comprised of 8 individual spacious villas and tasteful decorated with antique and modern pieces of both African flair and European touches. It is a true gem and the service is customized to your every need at the 5 star standard that you would expect! They take care of everything and submit your menus to you ahead of time to make sure it fits your dietary restrictions and preferences and that you are eating to your liking - all served by a professional chef and served in an idyllic setting. The staff and the hotel concept is very discreet, you have their contact and you communicate via messages, Priscilla was literally at my finger tips. Maite was very welcoming and managed to organize everything for me so my stay is as smooth as possible and it was!

The hotel is in a perfect location and the beach is very beautiful!! The Wi-Fi worked well and the room was very clean. Here is the perfect place to relax and connect with the nature. The hotel team was amazing!! Also, Kassim, the exceptional guide-driver that the hotel connected us with, went above and beyond expectations! He showed us the best local spots and culture, was very fun, respectful, and had a lot of knowledge about Zanzibar’s history. We absolutely loved it and recommend it!

Welcome to Michamvi and our lodge - a peaceful hideaway situated at the eastern coast of Zanzibar Island. You will find yourself in a beautiful and friendly environment only a stone's throw from the coral white beach and the warm waves of the Indian Ocean. You can look forward to lazy and sunny days, with the adventure awaiting just around the corner! Milele Lodge has seven rooms, we offer en suite, rooms with shared bathroom and a dorm. Each bedroom is equipped with fan, bed linen and mosquito nets.
I stayed at Milele Lodge four nights. The worst place in this price range so far (around $ 35). No information in the notice of no hot water, very dirty, torn towels, high humidity, cockroaches and very modest breakfasts (scrambled eggs from one egg). Nice service after all. The rest of the photos say it all.

The setting of this guesthouse is lovely, very chilled with covered beds, seating areas and bar, pleasant garden and walking distance from the beach and a short boda boda ride from Pingwe, probably the best beach in the world. The food is good both dinner and breakfast. Palm trees waving in the breeze as you sip a cocktail on your balcony - the setting is paradisiacal. However: there are significant issues with running water - there often wasn’t any. Not sure what the cleaning regime is but our room was not cleaned during the 3 days of our stay. There were mushrooms growing in the shower (no hot water, but that doesn’t really matter as it’s warm outside). Rubbish in the room from previous guests. Some of the staff are helpful and attentive but the manager seems disinterested. He says there are no issues with water which is bizarre, because he was watching the tap On with no water coming out. 1 hand towel between 2 people for 3 days is not sufficient. I know this is a cheap hotel, but it wouldn’t take much to clean the rooms, sort the water out and make it a bit nicer.
