My girlfriend and i stayed here for 2 nights in the deluxe double room. with a private bathroom. We wanted to stay in Madeira, because then the San Jamon waterfalls are very close. On the island, we also went hiking on the Volcano Maderas aand the Ojo de Agua. The histel is quite nice and directly located at the lake/beach. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and well decorated. The bathroom as well just simple and towels were provided. We could use the kitchen of the hostel, which was mostly clean and just simple equipped. The trail to the hostel from the street is pretty tough with a scooter. By foot not really a problem, but because of the rocks and the conditions, the scooter has to driven quite confident. Otherwise you have to push the scooter the whole way. The staff was actually not really talkative and additionally, they didn’t tell us, what they actually offer. So for example, we didn’t know that they make a nice pancake breakfast or some dinner, if you wish, and also the opportunity to rent some kayaks from the hostel.

La Omaja is family operated and an active stakeholder in the local island community. Our specially trained staff and guides provide professional and friendly service.
La Omaja has the best location on the island. The views are really amazing; a sunset with a vulcano as dramatic backdrop cannot be found in many places... The gardens are lush and beatiful as well and the cabana's perfectly placed to give you the most of the views and lots of privacy. Food is good too and the freshly made juices are a real treat and very affordable. You are pretty close to nature and expect a spider or two, but also expect howler monkey's visting up in the trees now and then! It's an easy walk to a lovely pier in the lake where you can watch the birdlife or the stars at night; this is not a swimmimg location, but that can be done nearby. Staff is helpfull in arranging all kinds of activities if you don't have your own transportation. The pool is a bit smaller than it looks in the pictures but great to watch the sunset. There's excellent wifi at the restaurant, but not at the cabanas.

HOTEL CONGOS is a mountain hotel located in the biosphere reserve on the foothills of the Maderas volcano forest. It is located in a semi-rural area in which there are different natural areas, landscapes, beaches, rivers, islets, waterfalls, and the majestic Maderas volcano. Around the area you can also rent motorcycles, horses and bicycles and carry out different tourist recreational activities. CONGOS RESORT is surrounded by beautiful gardens with flowers, fruit trees, forest and different animal species native to the area. It has a spacious living room and sitting areas. We have 8 cabins available with different lodging capacities, from couples to large groups. In the common area is the CONGOS restaurant that offers fusion dishes and traditional a la carte cuisine and bar service. We have a large pool and sauna and different additional spa services and wellness practices.
We didn't stay here, but we had a marvellous meal! Best spaghetti bolognese I've ever had, and a double rum is only $2... a very nice break from Toña every night. Lovely server and a hip atmosphere! We tried to go back twice more, but they were closed two nights in a row.

Had a simple but tasty lunch in a gorgeous setting right on the edge of the lake. So many birds and wildlife. Typical Nica food. Grilled chicken was tasty and the Melon juice was on point. Friendly staff.

Saludos a tu familia. ¡No te olvidaremos!

Is a family-run hotel with a view of the beach surrounded by nature with tourist areas nearby
This is a great place to have a healthy and filling lunch after a hike up to the waterfall! The comida tipica is a heaping plate - perfect to combat lost energy. The owner is eager to converse, and the food is a good value. We left happy and educated!

To sleep in a round room is unique, but a large stone shower (with hot water) in Nicaragua, is a rare find. A lovely view ,with a host who will go out of their way, makes for a lovely stay. On the island, one must have transportation of some kind... thats what makes it fun!
