Clean and very close to the beach
Reviewed By VanessaMunYeeA quite 4 rooms motel situation right in front of the beach. Walking distance to the beach is less than one minute. The room was super clean, came with electrical kettle, cups and coffee. Clean bathroom with water heater, towels, shampoo, toothpaste and shower gel. You just need to bring your toothbrush and some clothes. For the rate we paid. That was a super deal There are a few restaurants around the motel with walking distance however the closest town is 3km away. If you decided to take a grab, the chances were very low. The host noticed we didn’t drive a car to his place hence he offered two bikes for us to ride for free. The host was exceptionally kind and nice! He lives in the property with his family. One evening his daughter knocked on our door and offered the butter cake she baked! One of the morning his wife brought us Terengganu delicacy as our breakfast. ( our room rate did not include meals plan ) I would come back to this motel and the next thing I might do is to rent a car. Just in case I need to go to the town. I was very pleased and did nothing except watching the waves washed ashore and listened to the soothing sound of wave. It was a perfect place for my meditation and yoga practice. Oh we could watch the sunrise from the property. About 7:20-30am every morning

Worth it for a stop-over stay
Reviewed By zimbajamuHad to make a rest stop in Marang after a long drive and stayed in Hotel Pelangi. Marang is a very small cowboy town and Hotel Pelangi is located centrally. It is a small, basic hotel. Furnitures have seen better days. But, the room is clean. That is more than enough for me. Front desk staff is very accommodating and personable (a rare commodity in the east coast). I would stay here again if I need a rest pit stop.

I went so you don't have to
Reviewed By superscottythe positives are that the lads who run the place are personable and helpful. just up the road us a decent selection of restaurants and a decent stretch of beach. if you are british this is the equivalent of visiting billy Butlins in the 70s. outdated chalets and worn out facilities. in addition the place is pretty filthy. . much better off going i to the nice town of Marang about 6 km north of here. generous 2 stars for the lads. even the palm trees have thrown the towel in.

The resort have 45 sea frontage villas, comprising of 2 suites, 4 hideaway Villas, 4 Premier Villas and 35 water villas. All villas are equipped with air conditioning and king sized beds with aside lounger. All villas have a balcony with a swing chair for your convenience. Villas are all ensuite with a toilet and shower room. The resort is built on the ridges of the coastline, thus preserving the hills and its natural physical formation. There is a main beach and 2 other smaller beach for your private use. There is a restaurant where all meals are served there. Seaport facilities like kayaking and snorkelling are also available. Guided snorkelling is also available upon request with minimum of 4 pax. Airport transfer can be arrange upon request with some charges. Thank you and hope to see you in Gem Island soon.

Reviewed By 322juliettecIt was really quick and easy to get over to Gem island. The rooms are simple but all with beautiful views over the sea and you can relax and watch blacktip reef sharks swim by from your balcony! You can hire kayaks and paddle around the island or across to Kapas. The corals around the island are not the best but there are lots of fish and often blacktip reef sharks if you swim across the channel. A perfect spot to chill out for a few days. The food is ok but not amazing. They need to improve their vegetarian options.

clean n spacious
Reviewed By panjisemarang1what else can I be more thankful for other than a clean n convenient room? no smelly odour or a hot airconditioner in the house! the bed is big, rugs all around, hot shower availb and a nice looking design of that toilet wall.. tv just okay but of course the channels are just awkward. each room are differently arranged in their own sytle so you wont get bored with one stereotype.The parking area do have shades for several cars, as addition to open one.Owner also provides place for cooking at the courtyard with roof and seating table etc. nice place to stay overnight. but one thing to be sure, please ask a room with effective cool aircond, rather than being given with the one that need to wait for hours buy yet still cant cool you off. owh my... thats cruel.

I would give thumbs up for the staff because they handling the matter well. The location is good for family day they have lot of facilities for family day and beach is infront of the resort.

Reviewed By Ann_SedaiWe stayed here because of its location. It is situated 400m away from Marang Jetty. It is more like a pitstop before you take a boat into the beautiful islands of Terengganu. Very quiet. However, the room and toilet are a little bit outdated. Overall, the place is decent to stay.

Amazing view but terrible experience
Reviewed By Jessica CWe booked a 2 room accommodation because we want the view . No amenities given such as toilet paper, shower gel or shampoo, just a hand wash. That is fine ... There was ants on the the dinning chair and table even though we didnt bring any food in, it will slowly crawl out . The biggest prob;em was the bed, I thought it was the mosquito biting me but to my horror , I woke up with both my legs n hand with red marks , half my face is also with bites. The comforter is without a cover, rough bed sheet (I tried to ignore n lower my expectation). My partner also has bites marks on her legs. Not sure how some don't have the same experience... I will never go back there again even with a million dollar view... I have to go to see a DR for a jap as the itch was very bad....
