The River Arts Club B&B is at Oldfield, a Victorian riverside mansion nestled on the banks of the river Thames, with landscaped gardens sweeping down to its private river frontage and moorings. Accommodation varies from large suites with open wood fireplaces to a single occupancy room all in keeping with the fabric of the building. All our rooms are equipped to the highest standards.
We were made to feel instantly at home in this quirky, glamorous grade 1 listed Victorian mansion, filled with art. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, and the location - right on the banks of the Thames - is simply stunning. The peaceful garden goes down to the river, where you can sit out (weather permitting - we were very lucky!) with a wonderful view of passing boats, canoes and waterbirds. Great riverside walks in both directions. Our rooms were stylishly decorated, comfortable and clean. Continental breakfast was fresh, delicious and plentiful. This was a quick break for my sister and me, as we live in different countries and hadn't seen each other since before Covid. Our stay here was a magical couple of days that we will remember always.

Fantastic travelodge situated in the perfect spot for all of Windsors attractions. In walking distance for the castle, shops and restaurants. Parking is discounted and a fair rate for 24 hours. We visited Legoland when we stayed, very short car journey. Staff were helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was good for the price and the hotel was very clean. We were lucky to get a room with a beautiful view. Thank you will definitely return!

Upon checking and entering a room we found the window hanging off the hinges, Called receptionist who called maintenance, together they managed to put the window back on the hinges and then used a bolt lock to hold it in place. we was not offered another room we were just instructed not to touch the window or to attempt to open it (we was on the ground floor) The room it’s self is very old-fashioned a lot of dark wooden features, couldn’t get the Aircon to work. The morning of my stay I went at 8am to have a shower and found there was no hot water. I went to the receptionist who advised they were fully aware of the issue and no one on my floor had hot water, she advised she had called maintenance earlier but they still had not arrived and is nothing more she can do. (She didn’t care) At this point I asked the receptionist what time checkout was? she advised 11 am. We dressed and packed up our bags and made our way to breakfast, Breakfast is not worth the money that you pay. sausages and bacon were burnt, scrambled egg was cold so, unless you’re happy to have cereal or beans on toast just don’t bother. We left the restaurant to return to our room to collect our bags as it was 10:50 am I was then instructed by the receptionist that the hot water was back on if I would like to go back to my room and shower she would allow us to check out late. No one in their right mind would go to their room to undress, unpack just to have a shower to then dress and re-pack. By this point I wanted out of this appalling Hotel. Once I returned home I sent an email with all of the issues raised above, I received a response by Natasha Trier who advised she is front office manager. Natasha apologised but Took no responsibility or further action acknowledging my complaint. Clearly Natasha nor any other employee at this hotel are concerned regarding a health and safety issue within their rooms or to acknowledge a standard of simply providing hot water. So please refer back to the title of this review “ DO NOT stay in this hotel it’s not worth the money or the attitude you receive by its staff.

I was impressed by the tasteful furnishings of the Bird in Hand, and there were thoughtful touches in our room. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We just ate breakfast there, but it was one of the best breakfast menus I have seen. It was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I had the scrambled eggs and chalk stream trout on sourdough. They must have an excellent chef.

There is also a Tithe Barn which can be used for Weddings up to 120 people or larger meetings. There is private parking for 100 cars, a restaurant and bar and an outdoor summer kitchen at weekends set in our private garden. This area is ideal for children as it is set behind the main building off road and secure. We serve lunch and dinner 7 days a week and are open all day Saturday and Sunday.
The place looks amazing. And for clarity, to battle the comment below, I also had a ‘road’ facing room. And the country Lane was a delightful sight with next to no traffic all day and night. I also had a wedding party. And didn’t hear a thing nor struggle to get fed. The staff were very close knit and all super helpful. The young man on the desk was a real delight. Well mannered. Pro active and clearly wanting to please. The negatives, the heating was on full blast. It was roasting everywhere. But each to their own I suppose. Windows opened fully so battled through. I ate in the bar area on night one. Wasn’t great. Wasn’t bad. But didn’t match the surroundings. Didn’t choose to eat on night 2. Overall a very charming place with amazing land and views all around you.

I'd driven past many times and then when looking online one day for hotels saw the pictures of the garden, which is outstanding. I had to book a stay here just based on that. Norfolk House is run by a very welcoming family, who couldn't do enough for you. I stayed in a room in the coach house next to the main hotel, which was ideal. The room had everything you needed and I particularly appreciated the fact there were proper windows to open. Plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. A nice desk and chair to work at in the room and very reliable Wi-Fi, so ideal for folk like me who are working away from home. Proximity to the a4 and M4 is excellent. I'd also highly recommend staying here if visiting Windsor because the drive is really not that far plus Maidenhead is a great town to spend time in too. The garden at Norfolk House is definitely one of the perks of staying. It's a perfect place to enjoy a drink and some late afternoon sun after a day's work. I'd recommend the full English breakfast too. Freshly cooked and piping hot. I'll be looking forward to staying again.

NICE TO MEET YOU The incredible team that has won awards for their work with The Sussex Arms in Twickenham, The Cornerhouse in Windsor and The Express Tavern in Kew is now behind the Lord Grenfell in Maidenhead. We have worked hard to develop a refined but contemporary character, building on our wealth of British pub culture and dining experience. We focus on providing quality food and drink at great prices in a relaxed and comfortable setting with great service, and we cannot wait to introduce ourselves
We travelled south for the pub in the park festival on Saturday from Liverpool which was FA cup final day Liverpool v Chelsea and came into the Grenfell to watch the match, we couldn’t of been made to feel more welcome by the staff and locals which many were Chelsea fans, they continued their friendliness and kindness through the evening even when Liverpool won, we ate there and the food was delicious and the main barman Ben was such a lovely guy, we can’t recommend this place highly enough and would certainly revisit if down that way again
