Set in the dramatically beautiful Magoebaskloof area, this charming country hotel offers guests a chance to enjoy an idyllic and relaxing break in the countryside. Arriving guests are welcomed by an attractive entrance square with a magnificent mural and bronze bust of King Makgoba. Beyond the square lies the expansive view of the legendary leader's famous valley. The Coffee Bean coffee shop has outdoor seating, as well as a comfortable indoor lounge with cosy fireplace. It serves all-day light snacks and meals, tempting cakes, gourmet coffees and freshly squeezed juice (in season). Walk through to the impressive Tlou Restaurant, where an extensive à la Carte menu will whet your appetite. The expansive balconies offer al fresco dining, with views over the fertile valley. The Phoenix & Fireman Pub has an impressively long cedar bar, and huge fireplace for those chilly winter evenings. Relax and enjoy the warm and inviting ambiance.
Apart from having the most awe-inspiring view anywhere on "the Mountain", the hotel definitely places itself in the upper-end of it's 3-star rating. Rooms are exactly what you'd expect and staff are more than willing to assist with any extra's you may need. Given the unpredictable nature of the weather system in the mountain, pack for all-seasons. It can go from sunny to rain and back to full sunshine in a matter of hours. The Phoenix & Fireman Bar is a treat, with plenty to drink and eat, warm and friendly staff with a few locals dropping by for a cold one or three. The coffee shop is generally open when the guest count is low, do do not expect the full dining-hall experience every evening. The same applies for breakfasts: The hotel is known for its immense breakfast spread, but is also subject to the number of guests staying. The Menu has been considerably reduced and does not offer a wide variety of choice, even compared to local eateries. Long-stay guests will quickly get tired of the menu. Unless you're a bookworm, long-stay guests will need to find something to do outside of the hotel. Rooms are neat and cleaned daily, and relatively large. Double-suites are exceptional and offer a full kitchen, full lounge and wash-up area: A Home-away-from-home for families. All Hotel amenities are also room-deliverable, so the recluse can enjoy some peace and quiet. Power does seem to be an issue as it is an isolated part of the mountain, however a full generator is on-premise. Parking is mostly under-tree, but more than sufficient for even the largest groups. The staff are what make the Hotel, and this should not be discounted. They will bend over backwards to accommodate even the toughest or most whimsical guest. No request is off limits! The gardens are all well-maintained without going overboard with neatness (this is after all, a Mountain hotel) . The Red Postbox is a historical pub with a bit of a dark history and is recommended that, should you arrive, take your first drink within it. Be advised that the Hotel is located within a Samango Monkey sanctuary as well as being home to a number of critically endangered butterflies and moths. Bird watchers can expect a treat as there is plenty going on in the expansive Hotel gardens! The waterfall-hike is considered a medium-to-advanced hike and should not be taken lightly.

Glenogle Farm has 2 luxury self catering suites, The Stables and The Loft. The Stables is positioned between the horse stables and paddock. It has 2 bedrooms,1 bathroom, kitchen, dining area and lounge with a fireplace. The Loft is an exclusive romantic hideaway in the forest with exquisite views. It has a bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen, living area with fireplace and private deck.
I think I left my heart in The Loft at Glenogle Farm. We didn't want to leave!! The hosts are amazing, patient and very welcoming. The farm is everything calm, romantic, serene and beautiful. The kitchen in The Loft has everything, we cooked homemade burgers on our first night! The area around the property has great activities and picturesque roads but the most fun we had was on the Farm within the trees, on the little boat ride we took in the little dam and walks we took on the property. We are certainly going back soon!!

Good day Team Stanford Lake Lodge, Diana, Gavin and Colleen, We would like to thank you for affording us the opportunity to rest, relax and have a wonderful time at your beautiful 4 Bedroom Cabin It needs to be said, that the cabin was in immaculate condition and really clean. It was such a pleasure to walk into such a well-equipped cabin, smell the fresh mountain air and enjoy a wonderfully laid out home. Your linen and beds are top of the range, and our entire party commented on what good nights' sleep we all had. I would also like to give a hearty thank you to Salome and Esther, your cleaning team; as they were so non-invasive, cleaned beautifully and were so friendly. We tried two of your recommended activities: In The Company of Horses (Equine Adventures) and the beautiful and delightful lady, Colleen who did my Reflexology. I have never in my life been to such a through (treatment) and thoroughly delightful lady, Colleen. Her passion for Stanford's history shone through. What made our stay at your beautiful lodge even more special, is the fact that both my mom, and my hubbys' parents, alongside our daughter, joined us for the week. It was honestly a good, relaxing break for our souls to re-coup. You will most certainly be seeing us, as well as our friends and family, soon!

Really Beautifully designed, elegant interiors - Curated contemporary art collection and hand designed furniture. Really shows South Africa at its creative best. The owners have perfect taste Yet it is entirely off grid powered by solar power and spring water The chalets offer breathtaking views across the Kudu River Valley and the estate is populated by resident giraffes (all named after the Presley family!) as well as Kudu and other buck who wander around unafraid. You can self cater and the kitchens are Scandinavian style contemporary but we chose (correctly) to do the incredible tasting menu available that weekend - celebrating locally produced ingredients - think salmon trout, venison, avocado, blueberry, Macadamia, Dragon fruit, quail... designed with Fusion panache by the European chef. Really astonishing An absolute must for any Limpopo itinerary

At Bramasole, you can do as much or as little as you like. If you feel like unwinding, you can curl up next to a crackling fireplace and lose yourself in a novel. Explore the magnificent forest or try out the many hikes in the area. If you feel like tussling with 'the big one', trout fishing is also an option. Situated at the very edge of a lake, Bramasole cuts an imposing figure complete with an indigenous forest halo. The precarious approach along the narrow dam wall adds to the drama of the approach as the full extent of the building reveals itself. The interior has a surprise of its own, as this fairly simple shed exterior makes way for a luxurious interior with an enormous double volume space bathed in natural sunlight from the skylights. No attempt was made to hide the trusses which form part of this very unusual interior space which is dominated by a central fireplace. The rooms are themed from regions around the world from the luxurious Paris apartment to the cosy "Delft" room spinning around the world to Venice, Morocco, Egypt, Africa and the east - Jade. The Paris apartment is a luxurious room with views into the forest and over the lake with an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area and a braai patio. The views into the forest are awesome with trees overhead lapping at the eaves. We tried to be extremely subtle with the décor, avoiding corny memorabilia. Bramasole has used colour and texture to blend an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture and décor in the house, as well as the guesthouse. Reclaimed parquet flooring (from the old Schul in Polokwane) has been re-used as wall cladding and counter surfaces giving a warm textured look to most of the rooms.
Bramasole Guest House **** in the Magoebaskloof Mountains is an incredibly beautiful and supremely comfortable stop to or from the Kruger Park. Start your Kruger holiday with a touch of luxury or wash off the Kruger dust on your way home. Vuyi, the manager, Katy the chef and all the other staff are so friendly, helpful and willing to please. Right from the first greeting, by a gentle dappled dachshund to the final farewell, we loved our stay. Everything is beautiful. Each room thoughtfully designed to fit it’s theme. And not only beautiful but every possible need is addressed. Breakfast was delicious and although dinner is not usually served, Katy whipped up a yummy meal for us so that we did not have to brave the pea-soup-mist to go out again. Of course the mist only added to the charm of a beautiful setting. We can’t wait to come back.

Magoebaskloof Getaway Cottages, Log Cabins, Camping & Caravan Sites provide a welcome stopover for business, travelers, sales executives and holiday makers. It's an oasis of peace and tranquility where one is able to unwind and enjoy the lush subtropical vegetation. The magic of fresh spring running water is a taste of heaven, as is the chance to breathe some clean, fresh air.
There was NO Dstv as advertised. I took it up with the property. They say they have contacted Booking.com multiple times to get them to correct, but without success. It was raining and without satellite tv that I specifically had as a filter, there was nothing to do and we left 2 days before we were supposed to. Not nice and a disappointment

Lots of bird life and we were also lucky to see the Samango Monkeys. The tent is well equipped with the basic requirements . Really enjoyed using the hot tub on a chilly evening. The property is in a good location as it is central to most of the places we visited during our stay. Read less

One rarely finds a place that you can fall in love with at first glance, but Haenertsburg is one of those places! The Pennefather's cottages are extremely comfortable, well-equipped, and oh so peaceful! The beds are fabulous (I have a very fussy spine), the staff are most helpful and go out of their way to do more than is required. Martha washed our dirty walking shoes without being asked - what a darling! The Coffee shop has the most divine cakes and quiche, and it is like being dropped into a warm cocoon of old friends. The people in this town are lovely.

We so enjoyed the Gallery room that we've stayed there twice, and will probably stay there every time we head to Haenertsburg. The location is conveniently close to the main road, but far enough for some peace and quiet. Lovely view, fireplace and bathtub.
