Lovely place and charming host
Reviewed By r-vazquez-villSomeone recommended me La Maison de Karen Chocolat as a great place to stay and I'll be always grateful. The property is located in wonderful spot, it has a beautiful mature garden and the building is beautiful as well. Karen was very attentive and welcoming and being a gifted chocolatier, provided me with samples of her work. WOW! She makes great chocolate!!!. The room was great, clean and well decorated with all the amenities that I needed. The breakfast was great as well (hot chocolate was great). Overall, highly recommended

Reviewed By Captain-KirkDAfter a long travel day, I just needed a cool, quiet, dark room with a comfortable bed to help put some jet lag behind me. After checking in, I went to my assigned room to find that is was rather warm. I visited a colleague’s room to see if perhaps all the rooms were warm or if it was just mine, and my colleague’s room was cooler. I reported to the front desk and asked for assistance. The front desk was attentive and responsive, but suggested I give it a few hours to cool down. We ate dinner in the on-site restaurant (which was fantastic) before returning to the room. After two hours, the room was still hot (24-25C) so I asked for a different room. I was given a different room but on the same sunny side of the hotel. The room may have been a little cooler, but not much. Perhaps the A/C is not adequate to overcome the heat transfer through the aluminum window frames or perhaps ok just tried two different hot rooms, but I’d urge caution if staying here on a warm day. I stayed in March (when it was much cooler) and had a very pleasant stay. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, the amenities are nice. If staying on a warm day, I’d suggest a room on the back of the hotel. Perhaps it would be cooler.

Le petit déjeuner : parfait. A volonté et un choix gourmand. Un très léger bémol : vue de notre terrasse sur la chaufferie…dommage car le balcon donnait envie.

Lovely boutique hotel
Reviewed By Juli BThis is not your usual run of the mill French hotel. It is a charming little boutique hotel with quirky style, comfy beds and modern bathrooms. The terrace rooms on the first floor are lovely and breakfast was delightful. There is good attention to detail here and the staff were very helpful. A lovely large courtyard garden where you can eat outside or inside in the restaurant. We were travelling back up to the tunnel so just used it as an overnight stop on the way home arriving late so sadly didn’t have the opportunity to try the restaurant, but the menu looked good. We also didn’t try the spa. Will definitely revisit and eat next time! Also took our dog which worked well.

Reviewed By jcepenboxRarely have I stayed in accommodation which is so spot-on in every respect. Hosts Reginé and Michel could not be more welcoming, friendlier, or more accommodating. The house is located on a ridge overlooking a picturesque valley in hills immediately north of Lyon. Bedrooms and bathrooms are very spacious and well equipped. Breakfast is excellent, much of it prepared with home-made and local produce. In short, this accommodation is excellent.

Reviewed By jenniferellen36We stayed at le Caborne for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. While the rooms are small they are comfortable and well appointed. What really makes this hotel stand out is the hospitality of the owners and staff. We arrived hungry and tired and without our baggage. Even though the restaurant was closed they sat us and provided us friendly and un-rushed service. What had become of our bags was questionable and since we arrived on a Friday late afternoon we were being told that we could expect our bags to be delivered on Monday. That would have left us without clothes etc for 3 full days, plus likely a wasted day on Monday waiting for the delivery. The owner spent time communicating with the lost baggage office at the Lyon airport and arranged for the manager to personally hold our bags on Saturday morning for pick up. It all worked out because he took the time to find the right person and follow up so we didn't make a wasted trip to the airport. This level of concern and service, combined with the comfortable and tasteful design, excellent food, friendly service and beautiful terrace gets a 5 star review from us. Quiet, comfortable, and walking distance to everything in charming Limonest and quickly accessible by car or Uber to Lyon, Beaujolais, Macon, etc. If you want great service, a comfortable bed, and a quite hotel Le Caborne is a great option if you don't want to be in the city (Lyon) or far off the beaten path with no services or restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended!
