Schloss Lieser is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional castle hotel on the Moselle river bank. It reminds of bygone times while providing all modern hotel necessities and where guests are treated as royals.
Amazing Castle Hotel in a Beautiful Spot!
Reviewed By O7423JSmickeymThe renovated castle is an amazing spot for enjoying old world German charm in a great setting on the river, while getting pampered, world class service by a great staff! The front desk staff were warm and so helpful in suggesting places to eat and visit! We enjoyed everything they suggested us doing! We were there mostly during the weekdays (and the one evening we dined there it threatened rain) so dining options at the castle were a bit more limited. But wait staff was very attentive and good and food was good as well. We used Bonvoy suite night upgrades and the hotel gave us a big upgrade - to a large suite with balcony (don't think more than maybe 2 or 3 rooms have balconies in the main castle). It was a lovely space with an amazingly cloud-like bed! And we got to spend time relaxing on our balcony looking at the river and the slow pace of life in Lieser. Would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone!

Reviewed By Tony GFirstly the picture shown is soon to be opened Schloss Lieser 200 metres along the road from Schosshotel Raatz. We had an apartment in Raatz consisting of living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with double bed. Overall the apartment was very clean (there is a daily maid service) and overlooked a small courtyard. Being at the rear of the hotel it had no view but it was quiet. I would agree with other reviewers that it needs modernising, the kitchen would get considerable interest from those interested in late 1970's early 1980's designs as it was immaculate. The general furnishings were also dated but functional and reasonably comfortable, very much in the 'Bauhaus' style. Unfortunately the mattresses were also showing their age and not very comfortable, and for goodness sake get rid of the plastic mattress covers. Overall the hotel is well located and presented being on the main riverfront road and 500 metres from the village centre. We only had breakfasts there and the restaurant was very clean with a table always reserved for the guests, the food and coffee was very good for typical German breakfast fair. The staff are friendly and helpful though only one speaks English well. There is no wi-fi but we were told it should be there next year, not super-fast like in GB though. We were staying there for the local village Strassenfest and our regular accommodation was already fully booked. Being frequent travelers to this area, Schlosshotel Raatz was a reasonable fill in.

Nice but very basic accommodation
Reviewed By Henrik WOn our trip along river Mosel we stopped at this guesthouse for a night. It was a hot night and it was hence not very comfortable to stay in a small room without AC. However, the breakfast served in the morning was very nice and gave us a good start of the day.

Why don't I take my own advise?
Reviewed By JOHN RI have written before never to return to a happy memory. I last stayed at this establishment in 1959, it was called Hotel Mehn, with my parents and brother and had a most memorable experience. For 58 years I have dreamed of returning, what a mistake! I booked my room several months ago and explained that I have access problems and was told that I would be accommodated in a first floor room, lift available with a bath - perfect. On arrival I was shown a second floor room, lift available, but with a very low bed and a large shower. While disappointed I thought that with some adjustments I could manage. We had a very disappointing dinner and retired. When I sat on the edge of the bed I felt it move and looked under the mattress to reveal several broken slats and several that had already been repaired on previous occasions! When we decided to leave early the lady said that they knew of the problem and were awaiting delivery of a new bed! I am still mad with myself for paying for that nights non-accommodation!!

Bad experience!
Reviewed By 718laurecVery bad experience. We arrived at the BnB Friday night (after 4 hour drive). We were welkomed into the house for a drink, they showed us our parking spot, when suddenly they realize they have NO available rooms? We had to wait for 45mins before they found a solution: we could sleep on the floor for one night... our parents in the bed. But we were happy we could stay. Also we had paid €100 in advance and were tired from the drive, so we didn't want to leave any more. Breakfast the morning after wasn't ready until 9 o'clock even though everyone was waiting from 8:15. During this COVID-19 crisis, it’s apparently not necessary to wear a facemask, not in the kitchen when preparing food, and not when talking to your guests? So we didn't feel safe at all. Second night also a lot of noise from a party in their garden... When we were checking out it got even worse. We expected some compensation for sleeping on the floor, but they had the nerve to tell us we made a mistake with the booking haha what? So we would have to pay for sleeping on the floor? This is ridiculous. Also the reservation from €100 she suddenly forgot about and we would have to pay this again. Absolute scammers! Totally shameless. The owner tells us we didn't have to stay in the first place, come on... We can understand they made a mistake with the booking, but the way they handled the situation was very unprofessional and impolite! Luckely we had enough proof with emails and banknotes, otherwise they would make us pay I guess. We don't understand how you can handle your guests this way. The rooms where clean but that's about the only positive thing to say.

Urlaub im Gäste- und Weinhaus Rosenlay sehr speziell!
Reviewed By homomusicusAnkunft am 03.08.2020 war ok. Das Standardzimmer ist sehr klein. Wegen der Dachschräge ist wenig Stehhöhe vorhanden. Gestört hat ein starker modriger Geruch (Schimmel?) im Bad. Irritiert haben uns auch die Duftspender, die dort aufgestellt waren und das über der Toilette angebrachte Schild, wonach wir für evtl. Verstopfungen (auch der vorherigen Gäste?) die Kosten zu übernehmen hätten. Frühstück von 8 bis 10 – doch schon am ersten Morgen klopfte die Reinigungskraft um 9 Uhr, um sich zu erkundigen, wann wir das Zimmer verlassen würden. Am Abend wurden wir dann nicht besonders freundlich gebeten, am nächsten Morgen vor 9 Uhr zum Frühstück zu erscheinen. Wir machten die Gastgeber höflich auf den starken Modergeruch im Bad aufmerksam. Daraufhin wurden die Leitungen gespült und wir bekamen die Information „Alles ok“. Als wir auf’s Zimmer kamen, mischte sich zum Modergeruch ein penetranter Pfirsichduft, der aus den auf Höchstleistung gestellten Zerstäubern kam. Insgesamt gesundheitlich höchst bedenklich ja gefährdend. Wir reklamierten, dass wir keine chemischen Duftspender vertragen (Asthma). Als wir das nächste Mal ins Zimmer kamen, war unser Gepäck umgeräumt und einer der Duftspender entfernt. Es wurde uns ein anderes Zimmer in Aussicht gestellt, aber nach mehreren unfreundlichen Bemerkungen der Chefin über uns zu anderen Gästen zogen wir es vor, vorzeitig abzureisen. Unser Eindruck war, es wäre am besten gewesen, wir hätten das Geld überwiesen und wären gar nicht angereist. Lage: 3 Sterne Freundlichkeit: 1 Stern Weine: durch die Bank fruchtig und lieblich abgestimmt Frühstück: Standard Fazit: Für erholsamen Urlaub daher ungeeignet
