Stayed at Motel for friends wedding. Having arrived and been impressed by the venue and surroundings for the wedding, we expected more of our room. Having read the reviews room 1 isn’t so popular! I found the room quite small, can only just open the door without hitting the bed. It being August and a warm day we tried to sleep with the windows open, finally at 6am having not yet gone to sleep, due to the constant whir of a ventilation fan ( now read that it is a refrigerator fan) and the traffic on the M6, I finally decided that to get any sleep I would have to shut the window and just boil. To then get up in the morning to have a shower and brush my teeth, to find that the water merely trickles out of the tap and shower, not enough pressure to wash, and was freezing cold. Then to leave the room, there is a notice (due fo Covid and wanting to restrict contact with customers) you are asked to strip your own beds (sorry but I’m not in the army) I don’t expect to have to change bed linen in a hotel, despite Covid restrictions now having been lifted. I find this a step too far. When we were checking out we found that you merely put your key into a postbox on the way out, and could not actually speak to a member of staff about our complaints. Despite asking in the restaurant part, for my partner fo be told that doesn’t have anything to do with them, and him searching round to find a “duty manager”. Enjoyed the wedding day, seriously let down with our stay.

Great hotel, it was clean and staff are friendly. Only issue I’d say is that I paid for breakfast and I got a box of cereal. Wasn’t happy with that at all. I wouldn’t advise no one to get the breakfast add on. Better off finding a cafe which serves hot food.

Despite my visit being unplanned due to my stairlift at home being out of order, I was made to feel welcome and comfortable. I felt that no request would be too much, both Derek and Jane were happy to help. My room was very roomy, and I was delighted to see the old wooden beams in place, the owner Derek told me mine was the only room with the beams still in place, dating from the building’s prior history as a smithy. The gardens at the back are a delightful surprise. I highly recommend a stay here.

I have been traveling to Leyland since 2006 and have stayed at this hotel many times. I wrote my last review for this hotel in 2015 which wasn't bad but I have to update it because the quality has gone down. The best times of the hotel are a few years back. Last week I was there the first time after the pandemic started and was disappointed of the actual situation in there. The rooms are okay, but not clean. There are loose parts in the bathrooms and mold in the corners. My room was not cleaned once during my 4 nights stay. Before the pandemic there was a leisure club with swimming pool, Jacuzzy sauna, steam room and gym available, which is all closed now. But prices haven't gone down... The quality of the breakfast has gone in the same direction as the rest of the hotel. The carpark is controlled via “Parking-Eye” now, which is annoying, can get the guest into expensive trouble and underlines the primitive standard. The service at the front desk was bad. Early check-out in the morning was not possible, nor the evening before, although I had asked for it.
