Drawing more pilgrims than tourists as a stop on northern Spain’s sacred Camino de Santiago, Leon is best known for its ancient history and magnificent Gothic cathedral. Convents and museums add to the architectural appeal, while tapas bars and clubs create a modern mix of nightlife.

everything about this heritage building is awesome. Guests are treated as if each one is personally important. Everything which one would expect (spotlessness; good linen; great food; great sound-proofing) and some things which are a bonus such as access to parts of the building restricted to guests only, such the fabulous cloisters, the old entrance; the old Library! On Saturdays, Sundays, festival days, there are also guided visits to other normally restricted parts of the original building. Not to be missed

The hotel NH Plaza Mayor is a four-star hotel in Leon, Spain, centrally located near the historical area and shopping district, close to many attractions, restaurants, and traditional tapas bars.
Perfect location for my trek on the Camino de Santiago. Located in a fairly quiet square (Plaza Mayor) and just around the corner from a stunning cathedral. A highlight for us was the potable water filling station just across the square! Lovely breakfast with large selection. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located on a small, beautiful and quiet plaza, easy walking distance from everything. Hotel staff were friendly and efficient. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and efficient. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, however this is a small complaint. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Opened in 1993 and located in the same building of the old Hotel Oliden. Building emblematic of the city with a relaxed atmosphere and daring. It offers classicism and modernity in a single formula. Conceived as a place of transit, invited to come and stay. Alfonso V Hotel is located in the heart of the city and in full commercial and business area, just a few steps from the historical center, the Cathedral and the Collegiate Church of St. Isidore. Furniture of modern comfort in its 62 rooms, 51 Doubles, 6 Singles and 5 junior suites, all soundproofed, air conditioning, parquet flooring, safe box, minibar, free Internet connection and separate bathrooms with toilets all supplements necessary. Non-smoking floors and area WI-FI. The hotel has implemented all the necessary hygienic-sanitary measures to guarantee the safety and hygiene of its clients (Disinfecting doormat, Hydroalcoholic Gel, Masks, gloves, temperature control point, etc ...) The Hotel has opening and access to the rooms by means of "bluetooth" through the mobile phone. For its use it is necessary to download and register in the APP "Directkey" before your arrival at the hotel.
This city centre hotel boasts a 4-star rating, which may entice the discerning traveller, but do not be fooled, for this is a 4-star hotel without any facilities. No bar, no restaurant, no concierge, and very few staff to provide a personal experience. Apart from the fact it is in the middle of town, there is nothing more to be said for hotel Alfonso V. There are subtle, elusive glimpses of a glorious past, in years gone by, before it was stripped of its staff and sole. However, the room was well decorated, if a tad squeezed. There were only a few inches between sitting on the toilet seat and the bidet in front. Breakfast was very basic, scant buffet, make your own tea or coffee and please use the toaster if you would like toast. I am not sure how the staring system work in Leon. – very disappointing!

Stayed for 4 nights as our friends were getting married (their reception was in the hotel). It was super clean, the most comfortable bed with the softest sheets ever! 10/10 free fast wifi. Right in the centre of town. Lovely staff who spoken English (we tried our Spanish out but sadly failed on some occasions). Would gladly stay again, keep up the good work!

As I had to be in the area I selected this hotel. Officially it is 4 star but I would rate it 3.5 star. Small details need to be taken care of in order to make it great. On the odder hand staff is really 5 star friendliness. So all in all thumbs up if you can get a great deal. They handled the Covid-19 restrictions very elegantly without major limitations for the guests. Breakfast buffet was not possible but choice was the same but brought to the table.

not great, but cheap, and located in the middle of old town. pros: location, price. cons: bad internet, old and smelly, VERY short bed (6' i guess). internet is almost non-existent - they have 254 IP addressees available for all hotel guests and spa patrons, so it definitely not enough. it's a shame in 2019 to have such issues.
