Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Empire Lakeshore Inn. Thanks to the staff member who helped me with my reservation on very short notice. Very satisfied with the attractive room. The bed was quite comfortable and we rested well. The linens and toiletries were a notch above the norm. Every convenience is nearby for food and gasoline. This was my first post-lockdown stay and Empire Lakeshore Inn was a really nice re-introduction to travel.

Beautiful historic 14 room Inn in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park. Walk to charming downtown Glen Arbor for boutique shopping, art galleries, restaurants and more. 2 Blocks to beach!
Very nice bad and breakfast. The couple who own it are attentive to every need. I had requests for heat, a warm blanket, tech support, and even the offer of super glue to repair an earring. It is a lovely, quiet and relaxing establishment. I hope to return.

Situated on a hill overlooking Lake Leelanau only 1 mile south of Leland, the Whaleback Inn is the perfect home base for exploring all that Leelanau County has to offer. Pristine beaches, hiking and biking trails, wineries, quaint towns with unique shops and restaurants, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are all within a short drive. With over 200 feet of private, sandy frontage and 2 docks on Lake Leelanau, you can enjoy sunbathing, swimming and boating right from our property. There are 14 rooms with incredible lake views and your own sliding glass doors out to a sitting area. We have 3 cottage suites (2 with fireplaces) overlooking the woods that include kitchen and living area with a private bedroom. Our Maple House Cottage is a stand-alone home that sleeps 6. Memorial Day to Labor Day we offer free hearty continental breakfast on our beautiful wrap-around porch that includes local coffee, tea, juices, breads, muffins, fruit and more to get your day started.
We really loved our stay at the Whaleback! With only a dozen or so rooms, it gives the feel of a quaint inn but with modern amenities and privacy. Rooms are spacious and come with a slider overlooking the grounds, and in our case, the lake. It is perfectly located only a mile away from downtown Leland and legendary Fishtown. It’s also very close to several wineries and restaurants. It’s a quick drive to Glen Arbor, Suttons Bay and Traverse City. However you’ll love the Whaleback so much that you’ll have difficulty leaving! We can’t wait for a future stay. We are glad to have found this hidden gem!

Felt a bit misled as this was really a motel. Most of the rooms are in the motel portion, not the main house as I assumed. Room was mediocre. The bed was fine. One of the towel racks in the bathroom was covered in mildew. We didn't notice until we left. Gross. Problem is that the air conditioning in the room never actually removes the humidity - towels and bathing suits never dry. Thus mildew on the towel bar. Shower was also VERY cramped, even for someone short. There is coffee each morning in the office for everyone, but they don't let you know this, so the first morning we went out to get some. The property has a sand volleyball court in back, kayaks to use, and areas to sit outside, which was nice. Way overpriced for what you get. I know they are able to charge this price due to many of the current circumstances, but it's a ripoff.

As M22 winds through Leelanau county mi, past the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan and sleeping bear dunes, you'll find Northport. A quiet town offering beautiful scenic beaches Take a step back in time at the Wauban Cottage and relax
This is a pretty old house sitting above town, nice rooms filled with antique furniture - my room had a huge bathroom. Many areas to sit and relax, including a screened in porch wrapping the side. Breakfast pleasant. Walking distance to town.

Enjoy the "Up North" feel of the M22 Inn-Suttons Bay! Nestled on scenic M22 sits the rustic and quaint inn - just 4 miles south of the Village Suttons Bay's local shopping, restaurants, wineries, Hop Lot, golf courses, parks, and beaches! If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of downtown Traverse City, then look no further!
I knew before arriving that the M-22 was more of a throwback motel. Parking is right outside the door. Surprisingly the room is very large. Loved the picture windows on both sides of the room as well as a door on each side. Pet friendly ($10!). Full size refrigerator, sink, utensils, and dishes. Right across the road from the Bay. Benches to relax and look at the water; steps down to a little beach. Great location to visit Traverse City and explore the Leelanau Peninsula. Overall a very nice surprise and sorry I didn't make plans to stay longer

Family of 3, two nights. Pay $516, $546.96 with tax. We really looking forward to a comfy stay and full, good breakfast. Disappointed. I have traveled extensively for the past 30 years. This was in the ‘I made a mistake booking this one’ category. Bed: 1. Many decorative pillows on the bed. 80% saturated with other people’s odor. Yes, I smell each of them. I put them outside the room, leave two that were covered with fresh pillow case. They smell marginal tolerable; 2. Squeaky sound from the mattress even with small movement. My husband and I did not want to wake each other. So we both did not sleep well. Bathroom: 1. Too much fabric softeners, towels were waxy. I used my own Bounty (yes, the paper towel) to dry my face; 2. Very small bathroom, with one small sink, about an inch bigger than an A4 paper. Water splashed all around on the floor every single time using it. 3. No floor mat, meaning no way to keep the floor of the small bathroom dry; 4. No hook, no bar, no usable shelving. One small box shape thing high up on the toilet bowl. Could not pass the toilet bowl to reach it, unless using the toilet as stepping tool. Breakfast: Hard boil eggs (no selection), sausage, yogurt (no selection), fresh fruit, cereal and one creative thing each morning. They were ‘Continental breakfast’. NOT Bed and Breakfast quality. The Inn: It’s a rusty cottage. For people who like rusty and country feel, this may be OK. For me, this is just too ‘rusty’ and uncomfortable. Plus we are not allowed to use the kitchen. There is no way to get hot drinking water at night because there is no service people on site. Security: None. Most of the doors stayed unlocked (Required by the host). You only allowed to lock your room. May be it’s just my problem. Therefore I did not factor this in my rating. But people have to know this.

Stayed here 4 nights, pre booked by family. Pros: free parking, bed linens clean, close to main street, and the market. Nice little court yard out front. Happiness ends there! Cons: carpet very dirty, didn't want to take my shoes off. The shower curtain had mold all over the bottom, door to bathroom didn't close. If you closed the bath door, you had to kick it to open. Stairs so scary felt unsafe. White towels were GRAY and old. No service, due to covid, which we understood, so had to flag someone down to exchange towels. Furniture old and dated. Lighting was horrible, need bigger wattage. In need of outside update. The key entry very hard to open and operate. We saw one man actually sitting in a chair trying to open his door.
