Happy hour each day in our comfortable lounge area between 4pm and 6pm. Hotel Laugar offers its guests free parking and free high speed WiFi. An outdoor geothermal swimming pool and golf course is a minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is ideal for guests with a car rental and group visitors who use us as a base due to our close proximity to major attractions.
We stayed there on a drive through Iceland. The room was functional and breakfast was good. Didn't have enough time to see if there are other facilities for guests. There was a heated swimming pool nearby, but it's not part of the hotel and was closed by the time we checked in.

Guesthouse Storu Laugar was full of magic for us. From the gorgeous sunset views to the stars to the Northern Lights in our own private hot pool... we would've moved in here if we could. We spent our days exploring the Lake Myvatn area and going dog-sledding at the kennel nearby! (We booked a tour in advance.) Our host was lovely and prepared an outstanding breakfast for us, even though we were the only guests for the night! The room is clean and comfortable. We remember this guesthouse so fondly and highly recommend it for a beautiful stay near Myvatn!

What an absolutely wonderful place to stay! Very clean and spatious apartment with everything you need. Clear check in procedure. Fantastic location, both very private and close to ringroad 1. A good base to explore the area since this apartment is close to Mývatn, Húsavík, Akureyri,… and only a few minutes drive to Goðafoss. I enjoyed my stay to the fullest and would love to come back!

New modern cottages in a tranquil place in Iceland.
Highly recommended. The situation in Reykjadalur is perfect for all the the beautiful nature in the NorthEast area. The smaller cottages are indeed small but very compact and thoughtfully designed, neat, clean and equipped with all you need. The hot tub and the exterior area is great.

There are so many reasons to recommend this lovely little guesthouse - the hospitality of the host, the spacious rooms, the beautiful scenery, the horses (which we were allowed to pet!). But our favorite part of this stop was the food, which was amazing. Most guesthouses tend to provide you with small simple breakfasts - but this one provided us a FEAST. Eggs, waffles, "Happy Marriage Cake," and so so much more. Everything about our stay here was splendid, but the food was a highlight! Would go again in a heartbeat.

We are Cornelia and Adalsteinn Thorsteinsson and Hjalli is our home, our farm. We rent our 4 double rooms and we would like to offer guests a warm welcome.
While on a 10-day Ring Road drive around Iceland, three of us booked one night here. We were met by the owner, a friendly and helpful gentleman. Our room had three single beds, was pleasantly decorated, and had a nice view of the countryside. Everything in the room looked, felt, and smelled clean as a whistle. The bed was firm but very comfortable, and the small sink in a corner came in handy for nighttime sips of water. Everyone slept very well in this quiet, rural guest house. The shared bathroom was well-planned and spotless. The shower was completely separated from the rest of the bath, and featured a private modern shower with plenty of hot water. The two toilet stalls are super private, with walls and doors that completely protect the modesty of the occupants. Two sinks complete the shared bath. There is a shared living-dining room with large windows and comfortable furniture. A hot tub is available for guests, but we did not use it. Breakfast the following morning was great. Typical Icelandic foods such as an assortment of breads, fruit, cereal, and beverages. There are small kitchen appliances, including a refrigerator, and kitchen ware for guests to use too, a nice touch. While we ate, the owner chatted with us about Icelandic gardening, asked what our plans were, and offered suggestions for sightseeing along our route. We followed his sage advice and were very grateful that he suggested those places. If you're looking for a quiet, clean place with warm and welcoming hosts, you found it. If we're ever fortunate enough to return to this beautiful corner of Iceland, we will definitely stay here again.

Laugar Guesthouse is located by the road from Husavík to Lake Myvatn, two of the most popular destinations for travellers in North Iceland. We offer 4 rooms with made beds and and breakfast. Bathrooms are shared. All our guests have free access to the new Laugar swimming pool. From the guesthouse is just a 20 minute drive to Lake Myvatn and 30 minute drive to Husavík.
Just outside of Laugar is this small guesthouse with 4 rooms. There is a large common room with simple kitchen facilities. A great sofa provides for relaxed reading or so. The landlady is very friendly and helpful. The bedroom is simple but comfortable, bathroom and toilets are on a shared basis as is usual in this type of accomodation. Everything is very clean with a lot of attention to detail. Breakfast at 8.00 am is perfect with a lot of choice, more than you can manage.

Located in Reykjadalur valley within a short hop of Laugar, Narfastaðir is an old farm now converted into lodgings. Unnsteinn and his wife are the enthusiastic owners, always at the ready to assist their guests. The rooms are modest, but comfortable and clean. Dinner offerings are very good and there is an option for vegetarians/vegans. The place is within easy driving distance of Mývatn (20-25 mins), Akureyri (35-40 mins), and Húsavík.

We stayed at Hvítafell several times during the Summer and Fall of 2020, which coincided with the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Iceland and elsewhere. We have stayed here in the years past, and like the convenience of the location as well as the familiarity & comfort of the living space. These are not luxury digs but they are very comfortable. There is only one eatery nearby (Dalakofinn) but bring your own groceries as the rooms are equipped with a full kitchen. Kristjana, who owns and runs this operation, is always warm, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile to make your stay worthwhile.

Natura Apartments are ideally located in Laugar and offers you close proximity to all the major attractions of north Iceland, such as Lake Mývatn, Dettifoss and Goðafoss waterfalls, whale watching in Húsavík, Ásbyrgi and Jökulsárgljúfur Canyon. The three holiday apartments N1, N2 and N3 offer modern comfort and are ideally located for exploring north Iceland. All our apartments provide a fully equipped modern kitchen, comfortable double-bedrooms, private bathroom, smart TV, free, fast WiFi and parking.
We chose the apartment because of its location, booking a 3-night stay so we could travel to the various sites around North Iceland’s ‘Diamond Circle’. It was indeed well-placed for this purpose, with Husavik, Dettifoss and Lake Myvatn within relatively easy reach (though we unfortunately chose to approach Dettifoss from the North, and had a somewhat hair-raising journey along the icy, snowy road — south of Dettifoss was fine). The apartment had all the essentials, but seemed rather small and ‘ordinary’ after the night we had spent previously in a spacious, beautiful apartment in Blonduos. It was quite small, with the dining area looking out onto the space where the next-door apartment parked their car. Beyond that was a more rugged, rural view, and in between an industrial building of some sort in the valley — almost certainly a fish-processing plant, because there were a few occasions when a fishy odour carried to the apartment. The apartment wall adjoining the next apartment seemed quite thin, because at times we could hear the noise of next-door conversations. There is a small grocery store just 150 m down the street (which we used), and a restaurant (which we didn’t visit).
