We both enjoyed our stay at the Apollo. Our room overlooking the bush was very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony listening to the birds, we even had a friendly kookaburra visit. We ate at Babbingtons both mornings for breakfast as they were delicious and very reasonably priced. We had room service one night and the burgers were very tasty. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Been will definately stay at Apollo next time we're visiting Newcastle.

Stayed 1 night in family room. Staff were amazing, so friendly. Room size was perfect for our needs, even once the portacot was set up there was still heaps of room to move around. The bathroom door in the family room is a sliding one and needs oiling - makes an almighty noise when opening. To avoid it waking up the baby overnight we had to find the right amount of open that would provide privacy but not result in the noise. Unfortunately I forgot to mention at checkout! We got dinner from the restaurant delivered to the room and it was really tasty and pretty quick. I had the meat pizza and it was delicious. Kids had no complaint about their meals. Sleep quality was reasonable - typical hotel room issues of pillows being either too low or too high and no bed is ever going to be as comfy as home. Buffet breakfast in the restaurant was great - first breakfast buffet I've ever been to where the pancakes and waffles weren't rock hard, they were lovely and fluffy still.

Absolute water frontage in the heart of Swansea. Walking distance to all facilities in Swansea/Caves Beach. Jetty for guests use. All ground floor units.
We spent a very wet and tough days on the ocean and needed to stay in Swansea and dry out for the night. Unfortunately I didn’t realise there was a jetty which would have been great. The couple who manage this motel couldn’t do enough to help us. We were obviously wet, cold and needing a good place to rest after beating into the weather all day in the yacht. Next morning Glen, the owner took us to our boat. What amazing hospitality. It was amazing to learn that we all had a similar background in health.

The staff are friendly but are unable to help us with any of our concerns. There was no tissues and no coat hangers in the room (they had to go and buy us coat hangers but they would NOT buy us tissues. They DO NOT provide you with fresh towels each day, the toilet seat was faulty, they would take our blankets from the room when we weren't there and wouldn't replace them. There is no telephone in the room to contact reception if you had any concerns and there was no reception so if you wanted to speak with reception, you had to leave your room and walk to reception each time. The restaurant food wasn't good value. The only good thing was its location - walking distance to the beach and caves. They do not provide breakfast and their gaming area is for smokers only which isn't suitable for the non smoking people. You were unable to completely close the curtain due to it being broken and hanging.

We will definitely be back! The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the room had a cosy feel to it, with arm chairs and an extra single bed. Bathroom had a rainwater shower head and was freshly renovated to a good standard. Didn't try the Tepanyaki restaurant upstairs, but the caravan cafe on the street had great coffee and light snacks for breakfast / lunch.

On arrival I was greeted with a locked reception office & a note attached to the door saying that the office was closed for 15 minutes & to ring 0484550249 for service. Whilst I was there 4 other customers turned up & they also had to wait. I tried to ring 5 times only for the phone to ring out, I tried the office number & it did not get answered. When I booked, I asked for 2 rooms together, & stated I was disabled & required a ground floor & is the room suitable for a disabled person. On arrival I was allocated 1 & our friends were given room 6 certainly not together. • Room 1, was the furthest from the office at the back of the motel. • On entering it smelt musty which hit us both straight away • Then we noticed the very poor condition of the furniture • The bathroom, is old & in poor condition • There was NO hot water – the best we could get was luke warm water. • The room only had 4 power points 2 in the kitchen & 2 in the bathroom • The kettle was covered inside with yellow sediment, it took 20 minutes to boil & the power cord test was out of date. • The chairs inside are missing the padding & are uncomfortable. • The bed was so hard it was like laying on a hard wooden plank. For $140p/n I did expect something more comfortable. Neither my wife nor myself were able to sleep under such poor conditions. • Parking within the Motel is restricted & poorly though out, because of lack of area for cars to park the longer vehicles take up 2 or 3 spaces where your car should be in the parking area. • It is a NON smoking motel, although it was not policed as the person in the next room was smoking just outside our door. • The TV did NOT work, there were only 3 stations & they spent all the time pixelating & saying no signal.

Squids Ink is set on the shores of the picturesque Lake Macquarie, a mere 90 minutes north of the Sydney CBD. Squids Ink has 10 Waterfront rooms, 14 Courtyard rooms, 2 Spa Suites and a Veranda Suite. Our gourmet restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday thru Saturday.
The smell of cigarettes in the reception office was not a great start. Very very basic and dated room. The arctic blast off the lake was whistling under the gap in the door way. We had to have the air con on heat for the entire night as the bed linen was very sparse. Air con was mouldy inside and gave the room that musty old smell. Bed was comfy, shower was hot but water was pouring out every which way. The photos definitely did not match the experience. Rubbish piled up in the grounds including what looks like an abandoned car. It served the purpose for a weekend stop over just not sure I could face that again.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom plus (or 3 bedroom) apartment, husband and I, our daughter and husband’s parents. Unit #7, which was at the back and away from the traffic. When we arrived it was easy to get in, was provided a PIN code by text so didn’t have to line up to check in. Instructions were to park in the single garage, but unfortunately our Ford Ranger Ute didn’t fit. We wouldn’t have been able to close the garage door. Grandparents parked their Mazda 3 and had plenty of room and we found street parking right out the front. Bedrooms were as described on the website. Grandparents and daughter took upstairs 2 bedrooms as we didn’t want our little one so far away from us during the night. Husband and I had the extra bedroom downstairs, which wasn’t a problem. Everyone had to walk through it on our way in and out but it was really no fuss. We all went to bed at the same time and it was quiet, despite there being no dedicated door to the ground floor. The stairs were a bit hard to get used to for people who aren’t used to them, but they were as described. Would not recommend for folks who may struggle. Ceilings appeared to be quite high, which meant lots of stairs! Would not recommend if you’d struggle with that. Baby gates were supplied, which would have been handy with little ones. The not so good: - when we arrived and opened the garage door, we saw a number of cockroaches scatter. There were a few around the apartment which I believe is fairly normal for the area - the place was very dusty, you could see quite a thick layer on the floors coming up the stairs. Lots of dust bunnies where it could gather, under the furniture and around the stair railings. - carpet didn’t appear to be vacuumed on the top floor when we arrived. - some dirty dishes, glasses, mugs and cutlery Would have expected cleaning staff pay a bit more attention to detail or be given more time to be thorough. All in all, good value as it was quite cheap.
