Vomit, long lines, and a sad fall of a once great place
Reviewed By bradcC178NCMaybe it's natural to take it easy when you are on top. Maybe that's the difference between good and great. Maybe COVID caused a shortage of decent help. I have no idea. There was vomit in the elevator when I checked in at around 7 PM and it was still there when I checked out the next morning. Every open restaurant had an hour wait and/or line out the door (so about a 45-minute wait at the Claim Jumper). It's a sad thing to experience and I hope that a competitor comes in to put everyone back on their game. I practically lived at the GN a few years ago when working in the area and it was fantastic. Those days are gone. I wish I had a good alternative, but I don't. I just hope somebody who can do something reads this and makes an effort to aim for excellence rather than try to edge out the next lowest denominator. For the record, the staff was extremely professional and polite...just outnumbered and overwhelmed by an aging property and limited staff, I'll spare you the photo of the vomit.

Reviewed By scootercusRooms are clean. On a street where there are a lot of stores and restaurants. Parking lot lights were aimed right at our windows so we used the black out curtains which worked fine. The thermostat was so lit up we had to use washcloths to darken the room a little bit more. Breakfast was fine and the staff was very friendly. We would stay here again.

Reviewed By 201allThis hotel was recently renovated because of hurricane damage. The lobby is beautiful. There is new carpeting throughout, including the stairs. The room was clean, nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The included hot breakfast was very good. The front desk was pleasant and efficient.

Free WiFi, a 55-inch TV and a mini-fridge create a synergy all their own while you rest on the comfortable mattress. Check out the large counter in the bathroom. It's OK to play with your food when you 'Build your Own' Breakfast. There are 30 different sweet, savory, and healthy toppings to choose from. Stop by the 24/7 Eat. & Sip. market for a single-serve beer or wine, local gourmet snacks, and light meals. Because it's great and useful. Always wanted to sink one into the corner pocket? The pool table is waiting. Do 10 reps in the fitness center, a little work in the semi-private alcove, and then you're good to go.

Reviewed By NolaJoe1957This hotel is only 5 years old. We could clearly hear conversations from the adjoining rooms and room above us. The room stayed cold due to poor window sealing. The bed comforter was thin; we had to get blankets from the front desk. There's no Tru Hotel sign on the street (it's behind the Holiday Inn). I sa a Roach in bathroom shower. Believe it or not, I rarely complain about hotels. I won't be staying in this one again. The staff was helpful and the location was good. The room prices were expensive for this level of quality.

Reviewed By cjmom923The front desk staff made us feel like celebrities during our stay, the hotel was very clean and smelt great. Our housekeeper was the sweetest also. My only issue was the the checkout housekeeper not nice at all. I had late checkout and she tried to make us leave before time; which I did not ?. The front desk apologized multiple times..... My new fav place.

I was very impressed with the delicious breakfast. There is also a complimentary shuttle to and from the nearby casinos. The price for a holiday weekend was most reasonable. The people of Lake Charles are very resilient and I was very happy to support them.
