Basically a La Quinta Motel

Reviewed By Hilary B

I was excited to stay at the La Quinta resort with my friend this Memorial Day weekend. Even though my last visit was subpar, I had high expectations for this stay since they had a little more time post Covid for their reopening. This resort is supposed to be high end but basically is a La Quinta motel at this point. Last time there was a broken AC unit and a four hour check in process and this time the experience was akin to a camping trip. When going to check in, the only front parking is valet, so you have to fend for a spot on the street and walk. Check in was a line of 10 other people that are about to all be have a disappointing weekend. This should have been obvious with front desk manned my one employee that I know was overworked and I’m assuming underpaid. Once you check in, you then have to repark in another location that is hopefully close to your actual room. Palm Springs is hot and almost unbearable in the summer, so if you aren’t lucky to get a spot close to your room, at best you’re a sweaty nightmare before you get to your room and at worst, you die of heat exhaustion Upon arrival to my $600/night roof top casita, the patio furniture was worn and very dirty (my own patio furniture is cleaner), the room is dated, and for entertainment they might as well had a sign outside that said “Color TV/Free HBO.” Notice I didn’t say free wifi, because the service was so spotty, i ended up using my own phone’s hotspot. Now, let’s get into the bigger issues. The mini fridge was broken and the temperature was mildly colder than the room itself which was already warm. We brought food and alcohol with us and this mini fridge was not up to task. “Engineering” came to the room to “fix” the fridge and by “fix” I mean they filled it with ice. Thank you? Instead we decided to rely on our cooler to keep our food out of food bourne levels of illness. We also filled our bathroom sink with ice, which was also colder than the mini fridge. It didn’t help the nearest ice machine was a trek through the desert (again risking heat stroke). When simmering in Palm Spring, the only thing to do is relax in the pool. While the temperature was nice, it’s hard to relax when the pool is cloudy and filled with dirt and even dirtier children running around, screaming and taking over all the pools. We thought maybe we could at least have a nice dinner, but this also was a disappointment. The Mexican restaurant had no reservations until long after we checked out, so we opted for bar seating which there was a 2 hour wait. Wait staff were friendly, but clearly understaffed and again underpaid. In conclusion- I was very disappointed in my stay and felt my money was not well spent. I had a better stay at the La Quinta off the strip in Las Vegas. I had high hopes for the beautiful property, because it really is a beautiful property to stay but at some point the owner must have passed away and bequeathed it some random carneys. Won’t return again.

Website is inaccurate

Reviewed By stayceeee

If you book this hotel with the expectation that their website/app is accurate, don’t. They state that they have their evening social Monday - Thursday but the website is lying as they already have a permanent sign stating it’s only on Wednesdays. They’ve had plenty of time to change their website and have had complaints and won’t change it. Hotel itself is fine, breakfast is fine, pool is pretty well taken care of. I would not stay here again based on the fact that you can’t really trust them. It’s a decent place to stay but if you come into town thinking they have an evening social as their website/app promises, you’ll be disappointed.

Convenient location

Reviewed By HImommy

My family stayed here to visit Joshua Tree National Park and attend a tennis tournament in Indian Wells. Prices of hotels and resorts in the area were crazy high due to the tennis tournament. This Residence Inn provided a more reasonably priced option with breakfast included (though I wish they offered a fuller pre-covid type of hot breakfast instead of just prepackaged hot items) and free parking. This is a new hotel with easy access to Hwy 111 and close to shopping and eateries (including a Trader Joe's and In N Out) in the immediate and nearby areas. Costco gas is conveniently located next door too. The clean and modern rooms provided a lot of space for our family to spread out. The fitness room and laundry facility came in handy during our stay. Pets are allowed on the ground floor. Although we could hear dogs barking as we walked down the hallway, we couldn't hear them from our room. This was a convenient and comfortable home base for activities in the area and we would definitely stay here again.

Dirty rooms, stains everywhere, holes in sheets

Reviewed By NomadicView

Should've believed the reviews. This hotel room was shockingly dirty: surfaces everywhere were sticky and covered in hair. The bureau had some kind of green, chunky substance all over it; couldn't tell if it was from food or a human body. The carpets and drapes had stains all over them. I pulled back the sheets and saw that they were full of holes. As everyone else has mentioned, the beds and pillows are noticeably old and used. If you mention anything to staff and ask for housekeeping, you'll be ignored. When you check in, they give you a letter that blames COVID and says they only do housekeeping periodically (???).
