So before the pros, the only Con. I will just say that literally no English is spoken, so a smattering of Restaurant Spanish is useful. Other than that we had dinner b&b, for 110 Euro in May. The breakfast was basic but all you would want, bread, meat, cheese etc, the evening meal was great if over large portions for us. The two evening waiters we had were so delightful as we all made attempts to understand each other, and there were little things on the house, including a sweet Ximenes wine which was fantastic. The room was clean and everything worked, the communal spaces were beautiful and tasteful. It was very quiet when we were there, as I think this maybe more of a winter hotel, but looks like the locals use the bar and the restaurant too which is always a good sign. Location is just off the A 92 motorway, a good stop for the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, and not far from the Western THeme Parks where the Clint Eastwood Spaghetti westerns were shot. Also near Guadix and the Cave Houses.

Our apartment was a cave built into the hillside. It was cool inside when it was around 30' outside, the atmosphere was great & the facilities good. The bathroom was lovely, very quaint but with everything you need. The little kitchen was functional & the sitting room cosy. Our hosts were really good, they suggested a fabulous restaurant for dinner and explained a little bit about the local agriculture, as we had been puzzling over what was being planted adjacent to their property. We were served a great breakfast of juice, yummy local bread, tomatoes, olive oil, sausage & good coffee, all for only €5 for 2. We highly recommend this property to anyone who likes a different experience.

Hotel Labella, a small family hotel. we have 11 rooms with wonderful views of the palace-fortress of La Calahorra and P.N.N. Sierra Nevada. Our hotel is located on the plateau of the Marquess of Zenete at the foot and on the north side of the National and Natural Park of Sierra Nevada and to little kilometers from the Sierra de Baza Natural Park. Perfectly connected, the town of La Calahorra, is 3 km. A-92-45 minutes from Granada and an hour from the coast of Almeria, besides being one of the doors of the region of the Alpujarras in the Puerto de la Ragua. I can't believe this establishment has so few reviews. First off, go to La Calahorra. The castle is amazing. My wife and I stayed here for one night during the Easter period. You can get here via Granada and Almeria but a far more dramatic journey is through the Alpujarras and the Sierra Nevada on the A-337. There are other options in La Calahorra but this has to be the best value. Free car parking too. Our room was on the first floor with a balcony and perfect view of the castle and Sierra Nevada. The room size is ample with on-suite bathroom. The hostal has a bar where breakfast is served. It also has a decent restaurant which is where we had an enjoyable, good value, meal. There aren't too many places to eat in La Calahorra but the meal here was good with some fine local dishes. The staff are friendly and helpful. We were told that the winter months are the busiest when the hostal plays host to the ski tourism from Granada. They can provide you with the name and phone number of the key-holder of the castle (He speaks Spanish only but will give you a tour for a modest fee). Highly recommended.

If you are truck driver the place is might be acceptable for you, however, you are looking for places to rest as couple, you should probably look for another option. Rooms are pretty dirty with the have smoke smell all over. Tv is connected by chains with the lock on the top and your should go into your room via bar full of other track drivers. Not very romantic isn't it? Having said that, this is cheap place to say and vdu similar to motels in Texas or Nevada. Kind of experience...
