The General Tarleton is a re-established 18th century coaching inn with a ‘local and luxury’ personality. Step inside to greet open fires set on warm flag stone floors. The country chic decor creates your home from home where friends can meet for a bottle (…or two) and let lazy afternoons spill into evenings. Wander outside and enjoy walled herb gardens leading up to alfresco dining on the GT Terrace. Watch the sun go down on our comfy lounge chairs and put the world to right. Too far for a taxi? The GT also offers a luxurious nights rest in one of 15 Cosy Bedrooms with beds so insanely comfortable you might sleep through check out.
After a long road trip around Scotland this was the last place we stayed on our way home so it was good to stay in such a nice place. Our room was lovely - modern, tasteful furnishings and a lovely bathroom with spacious rain shower. Dinner was very good, with friendly and professional service. The same at breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Dower House & Spa is as full of character as it is convenience, when you're not enjoying a good nights sleep, you can relax in our recently refurbished Imagine Health & Spa with a swim, treatment or work out. Award winning Storm Restaurant offers a seasonally changing menu and daily specials that you can enjoy overlooking the terrace gardens. You'll not only enjoy the sights and sounds of the traditional market town of Knaresborough, but also the opportunity to take in beautiful river walks and historical landmarks such as Mother Shiptons Cave and the Castle ruins.
Lovelly staff in what should be a great hotel but slightly sad as staff wait for it to close in September for a full refurbishment. This will also mean the loss of the pool and spa which we both really enjoyed.

Stayed at this charming little cottage on 20th May with my partner for one night. It was the 2nd time we have stayed there, both times in the Chocolate Room, and I can honestly say it won't be the last. Mike is an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable as was the private bathroom. Breakfast was continental style, freshly prepared by Mike and was plentiful. If you are looking for somewhere to stay on a trip to Knaresborough, look no further, this place won't disappoint.

Check in was ok, we arrived early and went back at 3pm. The room was outside in the yard. A family room priced at £155 which was overpriced. Very dated and needs tidying and decorating . A fair amount of issues in the room which demonstrated lack of attention and could be easily fixed. Heating pipes bubbled on evening and early morning and water was extremely hot. The location is good but the absolute saving grace was the delicious breakfast, even though you had to select a time and pre order it was fabulous.

From the first steps, to the receptionist, to the last step back into the car, the total experience was magical. We started with a tour of the Hall, where we would eat breakfast and evening meal, by the very helpful and friendly receptionist, we where shown our suite, it was incredible, 8foot 4poster bed, sunken jacuzzi bath, separate shower and loo, a 3piece chesterfield suite, along with a 80inch (I think) tv, with the most stunning views. Breakfast was delicious. Then we had a 9 course taster menu on the second night. The waiters where impeccable. The gardens manicured to perfection and the kitchen garden, I think Monty would have been proud to own. Yes this was a truly magical experience for us both. Thank you to the all the staff.

As Knaresborough's premier pub, food and accommodation experience, The Mitre has four superbly appointed en-suite rooms available on a bed and breakfast basis. All have been furnished and equipped to the highest possible standard ensuring the most relaxing break possible!
Just returned today from a one night stay at The Mitre Inn and I can't praise it highly enough. The staff were friendly and very accommodating (the kitchen was about to close a little early as it had been more than usually busy - probably due to the fabulous weather we'd had and people were making the most of their day - but the young man who welcomed us (so sorry - didn't get his name) spoke to the kitchen staff and they fitted us in (the meal was gorgeous I might add). The rooms are incredibly nice - spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and the bathroom shower was one of the very best I've ever been to in a hotel. The toiletries and other little bathroom requirements that are provided are so nice and of good quality. The inn is so well situated as well, fairly quiet, at the bottom of Station Road overlooking the railway station. The breakfast was lovely - quality ingredients nicely cooked - and again the staff at breakfast were very friendly. The only fault (and after staying here - it wasn't as big a deal as I thought it would be) is that there is no dedicated parking for the inn. As I say though - not really a problem as I put the car on a car park less than a five minute walk away - and put four hours on it which took us into the next morning then before breakfast (I'm a very early riser) I moved it to one of the 'disc zone' spaces less than a hundred yards away. A word of warning though - don't park on the dedicated spaces reserved for the station users as you could get ticketed - but there a lots of signs in plain sight and the hotel does make you aware of it too. One more thing - the drinks are reasonably priced and they have a fantastic selection of beers and spirits. All in all - I would 100% recommend staying at the Mitre Inn - well worth every penny spent.

We stayed here for New Years Eve, what a lovely home. Karen & Rob make you feel very welcome from the start with an added bonus of Penny they’re beautiful dog? The rooms are lovely, clean & very comfortable. The location is perfect just been off the main street so very quiet but also close enough to restaurants, bars, shops & Knaresborough Castle. Our stay was topped off perfectly by a beautiful home cooked breakfast which set us up nicely for another day of exploring beautiful Knaresborough. Another lovely touch was Karen & Rob provided Prosecco for all the guests staying there that night. We would definitely recommend this guest house & we would definitely return here ourselves. Happy New Year! Karen & Simon
